Wow! I am so impressed with this office. I came here after a coworker and friend also had a wonderful experience. When I called to set up a first visit, I was happy with the care the office staff took to get to know me, what I needed, and the best chiropractor for my cervical needs. I was seeing a different chiropractor (which was decent), but it was getting expensive because they didn't take my medical insurance. I was very curious to compare and contrast the two offices. I was much more impressed with New Mexico Chiropractic Center! Dr. Marcus is HIGHLY knowledgeable. He asked me several questions to get the full perspective of what my body had been through and what we needed to work on. He informed me of his background and expertise. He explained every little thing to me scientifically which was amazing. He adjusted me and each time, he charted specifically what manipulation he had performed. Then he would walk me through what else my neck, back, hip, and shoulder needed and then perform the next manipulation and chart again. He also sent me home with exercises, and recommended I continue with physical therapy at the same time as seeing him. I would definitely recommend New Mexico Chiropractic Center! Hands down! I went here for treatment through the VA's community care program and I enjoyed the atmosphere and peace there. Dr. Rion is skillful and knowledgeable, reassuring and kind. The office staff were great to be with. I'm sure they are probably not all there anymore, but from my time, I really enjoyed them. Dr. Rion doesn't just do a procedure and turn you loose; he talks and educates throughout the visit. It's been a few years since I went there (due to family care needs), but would not hesitate to return if needed again. After throwing baseballs for 30+ years my shoulder would hurt after practices in the present. In one session with Dr. Marcus the arm pain was gone. This is the most disorganized medical office I've ever encountered. Plus, the music that this office plays while callers are placed on hold, on the phone, is the worst music I've ever heard. It hurts my ears and makes me sick to my stomach. And I haven't even had my first appointment yet. I can hardly wait for that. And you know that New Patient forms that are supposed to be on their website? The forms aren't there -- and the office personnel don't know that the forms are not there. (Just fyi: the New Patient forms have to be emailed to you.) Also, the office is closed every other Friday (began in January 2024) but when you call, you never know what Friday it is. Their recorded message doesn't begin with, "We are closed today." Or whatever. When I called last Friday and left a message, I just assumed they were open. I left my message -- and waited for a call back. And waited. And waited. THEN it finally dawned on me that they were closed. smh //// Later: not one word of this review is a lie or even an exaggeration. However, The Office Manager "Jennifer" just called me and told me that after "reviewing my correspondence", the office refuses to see me, and my appointment had been cancelled. :-) I don't think this is a loss for me at all. LOL Seriously. //// And should you go to this office, be prepared for them not to know your name but to call you "Hon" and "My Dear". ONLY if you're old though. That is SO professional - right? Smh LOL //// Just one last thing: when you look at all the positive reviews, be sure to look at how old they are. Most are years old. No, this is last: not all that long ago alternative medicine practitioners were better than what Western Medicine had to offer (not for everything, of course, but for some things). Now -- they are equal: they look at patients and see dollar signs. Btw, Jennifer, you were so rude - and nervous - when you called me and told me that your office would not see me. Wow, that's a first for me. Yes, I definitely was irked when talking to your receptionists. But I never raised my voice, never called them names, and never used even one slight word of profanity. The BEST chiropractor in all of New Mexico!!!! We have been going to Dr. Marcus for years. He is awesome!!! Even my 5 year old (who has been seeing Dr. Marcus for 3 years now) loves to come see Dr. Marcus. (She thinks he can fix anything) He is gentle but gets the spots that are out of whack. If you have an injury or just need maintenance, this is your guy. He is so knowledgeable about trigger points and anything health related. My in laws come here as well and he has helped them so much! The office is very clean and modern looking. My daughter loves the toy section. She looks forward to coming and playing with the toys. The staff is wonderful. I have gone to many chiropractors and body workers over the years. Due to accidents and injuries in my life I have had to get a lot of bodywork. As I have a very sensitive body, most traditional chiropractic work is too severe for my body. After several sessions with him a couple of years ago, he was the only practitioner of several I had gone to, to realize I might need to go to an orthopedic surgeon. And he was correct. I am a nurse in my 30's and have only seen bad things happen with chiropractor's with the patients I have taken care of , but at the end of December I was desperate for relief, I was having severe nerve pain down both arms and was going to consult an orthopedic but couldn't wait for the next appointment. I went into New Mexico Chiropractic Center and sat down with Dr. Gutierrez on guard and asked many questions, which were met with intelligent, knowledgable, kind answers to the depth I needed. Xrays were taken and a step by step approach was given, within 2 adjustments there was a noticeable change, I had relief so I could continue the activities like yoga and climbing that I couldn't do. In one month the pain was completely gone. Recently I was climbing and fell really abruptly, it hurt to turn my neck and I thought the worse, I called and Angelica the receptionist, who is also very helpful got me in same day just a few hours later. I seriously will never go to another place!! Dr Rion Marcus is great. I live in Edgewood and come into Albuquerque just to be seen by him. He has been working with me since I shattered my jaw and had whip lash due to a motorcycle accident in 2014. He learned how to adjust my neck without putting pressure of any sort on my jaw or face. Dr Marcus and the wonderful ladies at the front desk have always fit me into the schedule if I needed to be seen. I now go for maintenance a few times a month and more when I need it. I have never felt pressure to go more then I needed to go by them. Dr Gutierrez is always a great doctor, and my daughter has seen him many times. I an in my 80s, and have gone to chiropractors since I was a teenager: Through falls, after numerous surgeries, a car wreck and whiplash at 18, and one horrific ski accident in my late 40s, I have seen chiropractic methods come and go and chiropractors come and go. I moved a lot when young so met many chiropractic doctors. One lady truly thought she could "fix" me with a few swipes of a feather from a very large, unidentifiable bird (and she was not even a Shaman). The worst chiropractor was in Oregon. The best one, before I met Dr Marcus, was in Lubbock, Texas. I told him when we were moving that I would kidnap him and always have someone handy and nearby who could do something for my aching back and neck.
