I was walking by this place and there were some cute things out front that I was taking pictures of. I went in and couldn't believe my eyes; the store is so fascinating that it is hard to explain and properly describe This is more like a super-cool art gallery than a store (tho, it IS a store with everything for sale). There were so many cute, beautiful, fascinating things to look at and buy. It is a fantastic place to buy a really unique gift for someone. Each item was more artistic than the next. I thought I was done, then noticed a stairway up. Well, up there are even more things to see. They have everything from full bedroom sets, furniture, cool desks, end tables, glasswares (the spaceman dishes were the BEST!) - everything you can imagine; I can't even name it all. And, the jewelry in the glass cases is beyond unique and gorgeous. Even if you are are not looking to buy something, I highly recommend this store. You will think you are in an amazing artists' colony. I really enjoyed browsing through this beautiful place. Oh, and the people who work there - they're super-nice! read more

We somehow always manage to stop in Biltmore Village whenever we're in Asheville, and this is a shop we always stop into. They have a wide variety of items from pricey furniture to more affordable crafts. We've made small purchases here (e.g., ceramic wall hanging) in the past, and purchased a Christmas ornament on our most recent visit. There is a little bit of covered parking but it can fill up fast. You can always drive around the Village until you see a space. If you like locally made crafts, you'll enjoy this gallery. read more

I love shopping at New Morning Gallery in Asheville, NC, and I have never had anything but wonderful experiences there! Their staff are always friendly and helpful, and they will wrap your gifts for free! I buy a lot of cool, handmade kitchen utensils and very useful pottery there. I especially love my ceramic bacon cooker. I was told that New Morning Gallery has sold over 20,000 of them, and I can see why. Crispy bacon in the microwave with no spattering, and no messy stove clean-up makes it even better! Just bought one as a gift last week, and one of their sales staff told me that they now have their bacon cookers online for sale! Lots of gorgeous pottery, glass and jewelry, and the furniture is amazing. I always say, "If I won the lottery, my entire house would be furnished from New Morning Gallery!" It's the first place I go to purchase special gifts for a loved one or myself, with a nice range of prices for everybody's budget. Oh, and the Thank You bowls are perfect if someone is taking care of your animals or your home, or you are going to a party. I have bought lots of those. It is right across from the Biltmore House in Biltmore Village. It's easy to find and is on the corner. There is a large parking lot right next to it or you can park on the little streets in the village. This is a large gallery with small gifts for your friends to beautiful jelwelry and the most creative furniture one could dream of. Please Don't Miss This!!!!!! It is Excellent! I tell any visitor I see, if you don't go anywhere, go to New Morning Gallery, you won't regret it. A little side note, the staff is classy and great too. I got a beautiful jewelry box from New Morning Gallery a couple of years ago as a X-mas present. So it was fun to check out this huge art gallery while exploring the charming Biltmore Village. The place is big, it spreads over 2 floors, full of local art created by many artists- paintings, pottery, jewelry, furniture, souvenirs, X-mas ornaments, home decor. Many styles, a bit of everything, prices are a bit high. Nice restrooms located on the 2nd floor. Fun place to explore, I enjoyed shopping here, but I wish I'd have had more time to browse. This is a gallery for people that appreciate art, and for those that aren't so artsy as well. I'd consider myself the latter. Creative sculptures made from all manner of things, from folky looking animals made from metal/auto parts/and more to beautifully crafted meticulous fish, and copper trees. High end furnishings -- beds, tables -- even large dinner tables, and more that are absolutely unique and something you just dont see elsewhere. So much "stuff" in here that appeals to a broad audience, not just art aficionados. It's not boring. Its very creative. And I'll be back, to decorate my new house! As others mentioned this is not a place for the faint of heart. Most items are pricey. At the very least it's a very fun place to window shop at. Only knock I have here ... staff could use some personality. They seem to stay behind counters and dont venture out much. This is a place with some exciting inventory, would be nice to see people working there that match with the caliber of the products created by all of the talented artists represented in inventory. read more

Loved the wide selection offered at the gallery--I purchased a gorgeous ceramic beer stein and my sister bought herself a pair of earrings. The work throughout New Morning by many artists is remarkable. The 4/5 is indicative of pricing. I would never say handmade crafts should charge less--the work put into the crafts is not even worth comparing to anything bought at regular stores. However, as a frequent craft buyer, my beer stein at $36 felt overpriced. I purchased it because I believe I. The art and importance of local artisans, and of course, I couldn't wait to drink out of the beautiful ceramic piece--but $36 is pretty lofty for the product. No regrets though... We visit New Morning Gallery at least once a year, and sometimes more often. My last time was July 2008. They have something in just about any price range; even if you have a few dollars you can pick up some neat artistic something-or-other. If you are rolling in dough you can pick and choose from an impressive selection of Avner Zabari pieces. Generally I like New Morning. Having been so many times I'm ready for greater variety, but if you are just passing through, give them a try. If you lucky you'll find rock star parking in their little garage. read more

I love New Morning Gallery! It has a perfect mix of artwork from artists from all over. They have things from small to large in size. I couldn't believe the variety of things to choose from for either myself or for gifts for someone else. They have yard art, pottery, jewelry, blown glass, candles, things for the kitchen and furniture. i've never seen such a large selection of artwork to choose from. It was my first time at the gallery and I couldn't believe it size. Every corner took me to a new area of things to look at and be amazed by. New Morning Gallery is a beautiful place to go for an art fix! The staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and gracious. A huge place for high end, American made crafts of all kinds. You won't find too many items under $20 here, but as Burke pointed out below, it'll make you think about playing the lottery so you can afford some of these pieces! Lots of furniture, pottery and jewelry, they're currently renovating the jewelry area so you can't see any of it :( This of course was really disappointing since jewelry gets my blood pressure up. If and when (scratch that), WHEN I win the lottery, I'm going here for my initial big spending spree. What starts off with a small unimposing entrance way, turns into a monstrously huge art gallery. Many of the wares seem to come from the artisans who set up their displays at the annual Biltmore Art Festival. All the posters from the 35 or so years of the Festival can all be found and purchased here. There are innumerable ceramic and stoneware displays, furniture of all shapes and designs using multi media material blends, fountains, designer lighting and kitchy artwork of all kinds. They have a great selection of art and gifts, but are very rude. We entered the store a few minutes before closing. The group that entered right after us were told to leave and even though we were carrying a few items around, we were told they were closing down registers and we needed to leave as soon as the clock turned to 6:00. This is a fun gallery to shop for a wide variety of artistic and craftsman goods, furnishings and gifts. I love the huge selection of Sticks! furnishings they have and the metals/glass furnishings. I'm not so crazy about some of the less "artful" gifty pottery items--why can't potters make something that is truly unique in its design and coloration? The gallery is large, the staff helpful but not over bearing. The prices are reasonable overall for the quality of the artworks provided. This is a gallery, in a location near the Biltmore that attracts a world class clientele, not just locals. Probably my one disappointment with New Morning is the number of local, high quality artists that are represented--seems to be a small number and a lot of artwork brought in from outside the area--why? when there are HUNDREDS of high quality artists in the back yard to draw from. I think New Morning is missing a HUGE meet the artists opportunity here. read more

I bought a Sticks piece of furniture here (very pricey but beautiful.) The marvelous honey color is slowly changing to a dull grayish/brown. I have notified New Morning Gallery of this and taken pictures which were sent to them and which also showed the furniture was not in a place where it got direct sunshine. They wanted me to bring the piece back so they could take their own pictures. This was agreeable even though I would need help lifting and bundling into the car and NMG is an hour away. Then I was told I would have to leave my piece there for an indeterminate amount of time until they decided what to do - maybe months! With their prices you would think they would trust their long time customers. Very upset and don't know what recourse to take at this time. read more
