A Panic Attack and thoughts of suicide is what brought me here. Many people perceive Psychiatric Wards just as I did in the ambulance. You and I could not have been more wrong. Don't judge mental illness' for we all, at one time or another, have or had some form of it. I walked in PPI and immediately felt relief. Relief which I hadn't felt in the last eight months. Finally, I knew I had to be here. I was safe. Now, I recommend when you come to a place like this, whether it be voluntary or involuntary, that you open your mind completely. I was at my lowest point and knew that I had no other option; this was my last option before death--another chance if you will. Immediately, the staff made me feel at home and gave me all of the necessary details of the unit. I met the patients, too. Some were Schizophrenic, and most others like myself: plagued with Anxiety and Depression. My two-week stay here was absolutely wonderful. Remember, this is no vacation and you won't be staying at a hotel. The unit was decent overall: large rooms, nice bathrooms, spacious day area, and plenty of food of your choice. I gained ten pounds during my stay! The therapy sessions were extremely helpful and the group sessions may not always seem appealing, but you would be amazed at how well you truly connect to each activity. I really connected with several patients and we became a "Family"; helping and supporting one another during the hard times. We laughed and cried together, too (It really helped the adjusting process). Also, I can't say I didn't come out of here with some piano-playing and ping-pong skills!! My advice to you is: if you have any type of mental illness, do not underestimate it. Seek help as soon as possible. Do not be afraid because you are not alone in your battle. Note: No insurance? Don't worry. They've got you covered during your stay and your after care.

You better HOPE it's on a weekday. Because you're screwed and SICK until they come back in on Monday. PLUS!! They LOVE taking off EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAY (EVEN ALL THE MINOR ONES) and if you run out then, well prepare to be Very sick for a Week or so. I mean I have to f****** work on EVERY Holliday. Why do they feel they get to take off all the damn time when they have people who NEED their service?
