This is a tough one to review. I found this place on Yelp and visited because of the stellar reviews. To me, it's okay at best. Other people say it's the best Chinese food in Holland. Then I'm sorry that there ain't better Chinese food options here in this country. I tried a variety of items because I was hungry. The rose wine (4.1 euros) was nothing special. That's understandable. The cold cabbage side dish (3 euros) was too sweet to my liking. The shrimp over rice in bbq sauce had some flavor to it. The flavor was all from the bbq sauce. And it costed 18 euros, too expensive for the flavor and portion size. That said, all the restaurants nearby charge lots of money and are generally more expensive. I cannot really complain about the price here. But the rice... was kinda dry and hard to chew. The vegetable noodle soup lacked flavor. A little too bland. But at least it's worth 10 euros since they were generous with the vegetables serving size. The service was great, considering there weren't that many customers at the restaurant during my visit. What turned me off was the flies hovering over my food. I haven't seen that in a restaurant in a long time. That was not very pleasant.

Good Chinese food in the middle of Amsterdam.... ?!? Say whaaaaaat!?! Yes, it's true! New Season was a pleasant surprise after a day of touring the innocent countryside, just before venturing into the sinful Red Light District. We were greeted by a sweet Chinese woman who sat our party of 2 and a baby in a comfortable booth. This cozy Chinese haven was so small that our stroller was too big to leave open so we had to fold it up. Despite being small, the cuisine sure was mighty good! The crispy fried beef with onion and peppers was just the right amount of nirvana I needed before going to the Red Light District. The sweet and sour chicken was good although not as tantalizing the fried beef. A bit on the pricy side (for Chinese food). Great service. Good Chinese. Good overall!

Best Chinese restaurant ever. I can't believe there aren't many reviews. Americans visiting should try this place, I think it will ruin you for Chinese restaurants when you return home. Staff was caring and attentive. Great food, the Tom Yam Kai was delicious - very spicy though! The tofu was lighted fried and not chewy. I had Lychee liquor for the first time, it was lovely. Definitely, a place to go back when in Europe. Dinner for two with drinks is about $80 dollars.

Delicious with lots of vegetarian options. I loved the tofu. Everything tasted super fresh. Perfectly prepared and nice and spicy!

Kartika serves good Indonesian rijsttafel (multi-dish sampler of spicy meats, vegetables, rice, and…read morenoodles). I don't have Indonesian food where I live, so was excited to try this in Amsterdam. I thought the dishes were all flavorful and gave a good mix of meat, vegetable, and rice dishes. The individual servings were small, but filling enough because of the heavy coconut milk used in most dishes. 1 star off: The attitude of the waitstaff was abysmal. First of all, their website does not offer reservations and they rarely answer their phones. So my family and I arrived at restaurant opening to get a table. The first thing they said to us was "Do you have a reservation? If you don't, I can only give you a table if you get out by 6:30PM." in a stern way. We said okay. The group that came after me also raised the issue that no one at the restaurant answers their phone for reservations. The waitstaff did not respond to that, but begrudging seated them. 1 star off: While we were ordering food, the waitstaff noticed that my son had a water bottle with him, and proceeded to give him a lecture that water bottles are not allowed and that we have to order water from them. He is a teenager...he does not know he was supposed to conceal his water bottle at this restaurant. We all ordered drinks, including water, but the experience left my family feeling unwelcomed.

We had a great meal and very friendly considerate service. Great option for someone dairy free, I…read morewas able to eat everything.

It was so refreshing but it is sweet so feel free to ask for another shot. The service was amazing! The waiter was so kind and patient as we were trying to decide what we wanted. There were many options, but Yelp put Kantji & the Tiger at the top of the list when I searched for vegetarian options. This was really easy to find. It is a straight shot from Central Station. Heads up that there are a couple of entries in Yelp, and one will take you to the back side of the building. (No worries if that happens, just walk a little bit further downhill and loop around.) I arrived early in the evening because I was walking in and was glad that I had... it's a popular place, and it filled up fast with both locals and out-of-towners. It's no wonder that it did--this place checks every last box. It's a really beautiful space (think lots of greens, gentle light, and wood... it's what I would call gentle modern and chic), the service is excellent--everyone is friendly, kind, and helpful, and the food is great. They also have a great drink menu, complete with plenty of zero proof options. I ordered the vegan Rames (and picked yellow rice at a server's recommendation). It was absolutely amazing! It's a very generous serving of rice that is topped with generous portions of all kinds of deliciousness, including satay with the best peanut sauce ever, generous portions of veggie delights, and even more tofu and tempeh. The only downside is that I don't think I can go back to tempeh the way I make it. Definitely give this a try

Nam Kee has been around for a long time and the vibe is similar to the older established Chinese restaurants here. The window photo of large oysters pulled us in. The freshly shucked and steamed oysters were huge! Two of us had two each to taste different accoutrements. They were both delicious, although I liked the ginger and scallion the best. The large bowl of Won Ton Noodle Soup hit the spot. Lots of filling in the won ton skins, not some skimpy offering. The broth was not too salty. The combination Roast Duck & Crispy Roast Pork Noodle Soup was also delicious. Maybe next time I'll ask for the pork on the side instead of on top of the noodle soup. The skin would stay crispy the whole meal. No complaints though. Service staff were quick and no nonsense. While there was a crowd and turnover, we were not rushed in and out. Prices are higher than I expected, but then most of Amsterdam restaurant food is high. We will come back.
