I recently discovered this place and so far I love it. The customer service is their best asset. I got a pedicure done yesterday and I went to my job right after, I put socks on which messed up my big toe nail. I'm back today to get it fixed, to my surprise they didn't charge me. So far I'm loving this place. It's smaller than your usually nail salon, looks crowded the way it's set up, but I personally don't mind as long as I'm getting a great service. I will be back here for sure. A guy named Co did my pedicure and a girl named Natalie, I think, fixed my color today. Also, as I'm sitting here drying my toes they have been calling every customer that walks in by their name! Literally every single customer! I'm impressed, Co even remembered my name from yesterday. This place is hit or miss. New Star Nails was my go-to nail salon for years until I moved to Fleming Island. The staff will treat you nicely and do what they can to squeeze you in if you are a walk-in, but are typically busy busy busy! This location receives 3 stars because of a few things that I did not like that I have seen/experienced. Sometimes pedicure massages were shortened, lazily applied, or completely omitted, depending on how busy they were. Gloves were not always worn, but when new employees were hired I saw more consistent glove-wearing. The last time I visited I paid for a full manicure, GEL nails, and a full pedicure. This location has always been able to match gel polish to regular polish without a problem (e.g., gel polish for hands, regular for feet). The color that I chose is a common color that I've used many times in the past. The employee didn't match my nails. During my pedicure (done before hands), I made a comment that the color doesn't seem to be the right one, but I was assured that it was. Once my hands were being painted, I made another comment and the manager, Jackie, told me, "The thing is, (my name), we don't have anything even close to that color to match your hands." I know that wasn't true, and she did, too. I looked at their options and found the color. I had them redo the polish on my feet - AND IT MATCHED! They were mad at me for having to redo the work and didn't talk to me for the rest of the visit. They charged me $60.00. Even though I paid extra for the manicure, I did not receive a hand massage and the cuticles/skin around the nails was not trimmed/cleaned up as it should have been (see photo). I no longer felt welcomed and did not return after that visit. I have had some great experiences and not-so-great experiences. I have been very happy with nice quality work, and disappointed with the poor/omitted pedicure massages. I am giving this place one star because I have to. This is my second time here, and for the second time I felt rushed, like I was a bother to them. They do not have a good selection of nail polish, and the ones available are noticeably old with dry cracks showing through. I managed to get a pedicure and a manicure with in 30 minutes, including the time it took to dry my nails. I only got one coat of polish on my feet, and the lady who did my nails stopped midway to start a pedicure on someone else! I had to say "excuse me miss" for her to turn around and tell another worker to come and finish my manicure. It was not worth the $39.00 and I will not be coming back! read more

Would recommend this place. They aren't caught up in froo-froo gaudy decor, but they have what you need. All the services you could want including gel and waxing at prices lower than their local competitors. My favorite part about this salon is that they take their time and are very thorough, which really matters to me. read more

We just moved to St. Johns a few weeks ago and I usually bring my 2 daughters to get our nails done when I go. I called ahead because I didn't want to wait forever. We got started right on time and my oldest authorised them with requesting an intricate design on her fingernails, they didn't even bat an eye! They worked it out so we were pretty much all done around the same time, AND my heals feel like a babies bottom after wearing flip flops!! I will definitely go back!! read more

I've been going to this place since I moved to Florida. I've had all of the technicians and each do a great job on my nails. They have a wide variety of pedicures as well as different types of manicures you can get- gel, acrylic, powder, etc. the hot stone pedicure is great and I usually get a gel manicure. I've made appointments as well as walk ins, and if they can't take you as a walk in they usually give you a time to come back- instead of making you sit there for awhile which has happened to me at other places. I guess you could say this is a good nail salon if you've never been to a good nail salon before. I got acrylics done and they were horrible. Super thick and not the shape I wanted at all after showing the lady a simple picture multiple times. Not to mention I had them done around noon and at 8 AT NIGHT they were STILL not dry so everything I touched ruined my nails. Simply resting my hands down on the couch left imprints of the fabric on my nails. This has never happened to me before I'm still so confused. read more

New Star Nail's business model is so refreshing! They: speak English, visit with the customer, don't talk on their cell phones, respect appointment times, and they do a good job. I read the reviews before I went in and so I thought I'd try them. As I received a great gel French tip manicure, I watched carefully watch their schedule for appointments coming in. My Spa pedicure was so refreshing. Overall, it was a very positive experience. Because they are so small, I would recommend an appointment. So-Far, so-good. I have made an appointment after reading some of their reviews and the woman I spoke with was very courteous and informational. I made me and my fiance an appointment for two pedicures, the woman gave me my choice as to when we would like to come in. We made our appointment an hour after I called the Salon in the first place. When we made it to the shop, it was really a small shop, however what they lack in space they make up for in professionalism and making the customer feel comfortable and happy. They have several different pedicure choices to choose from ranging from 25$ and up. Giving the customer the option to pick which one best suits their wallets. The salon is family owned and the husband and wife owners are very good at making you feel as if you are sure to come back. My fiance being the manly, man that he is didn't want to go get a pedicure at all...he was embarrassed and felt like getting a pedicure was a "woman's thing." The male owner reassured him that more men than he thinks come into that salon to get pedicures. Some come with their wives, but a lot come alone, he also assured him that he too himself gets his wife to give him pedicures. This made my fiance feel much more at ease with the situation and in the end he was wanting to schedule another appointment for next month! VERY highly recommended and even offer you free bottled water and or a glass of wine. Conveniently located on C.R. 210, this will be my nail salon from now on.
