I had a plane to catch, so I breezed into the store (after taking a rainy photo for Yelp) and looked around for women's shoes. My initial scan showed me a handsome "older gent" (egads, maybe 55?) was leaning on his forearms against one of the shelves. The Marlboro Cowboy with a Sam Elliot on his upper lip, eyed me. (Inside, I thought, "hm, maybe he's wondering what a woman is doing in a store that sells workboots?") Then he said, "Can I help you with something?" And yes, yes, he could! He actually paid attention to what I said (black only, no copper rivets) and I chose two pairs of shoes in the space of four minutes ($59 and $89). When he moved around behind the cash register to ring me up, his colleagues (two other gents sans fancy facial hair) asked me, "How'd he do?" to which I responded with a shoulder shrug and a "meh" keeping in tradition with the reserve of New Hampshah. The gents smiled and mustache said, "they are trying to get rid of me because I'm too old." To this I replied, "they are just jealous because they can't grow a mustache like yours." (Heck, I'm a woman and I'm jealous!) Love the shoes. Love the stache. I'll be back next time I'm driving a pumpkin. And maybe... it'll be happily ever after.

Two years ago, I was diagnosed with a debilitating nervous system condition that has completely changed how I engage in fitness. He came back with four different styles, each with unique features which he explained thoroughly and allowed me to take for a "test stroll"! I ended up choosing a very cool pair of Altras - a brand I had never even heard of before! The next morning, I tried out my new shoes at the gym and I was THRILLED! To determine the best choice, I walked around with one style on the left (Brooks) and the other on my right (Asics), selecting the latter. I came to ask the girl at the front desk, she said no public restroom (?!) People, I just literally checked out. You can keep the restroom and all the shoes for yourselves. Customer service is a mess here. They used to have some good staffs and lost them. The shoes no long look that good, neither the price. You can get the same thing for much cheaper online or at the brand store. (Eg., Cole Haan for $100 at DSW but only $79.99 on Amazon or $85 at Cole Haan store in Assembly). Bye.
