They keep the prices low and their inventory changed from week to week. I've dropped off bags a few times and I've found some nice crystal vases while looking around. They really care for the poor in the area as they have a food bank on Friday's. They give free bread at the thrift shop on Saturday. Then they have a service on Sunday where they have a meal together and invite the homeless to join them.

The Mustard Seed Thrift Store is a ministry outreach of the Davie United Methodist Church. You can find it in a small building to the left of the church. The Mustard Seed Thrift Shop is open every Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM. The thrift store is staffed with church volunteers and they take donations while the store is open. They accept and sell gently used clothing, children's toys and clothes, and small household items. Prices are very in expensive, clothing is only a dollar for an example and the church provides clothing vouchers for those in need if they contact the church office. I saw some interesting glass items, some of which may have been vintage. Patient church volunteers were giving a math lesson to some children buying toys. Although on the small side, this is a cute, welcoming store and the prices can't be beat. There are also several other thrift stores in the area so you can add the Mustard Seed to a thrifting circuit in Davie.

They abandoned the concept of the traditional church pulpit in favor of preaching directly to the people most in need. Despite the disapproval of the church, Booth took his ministry to the poor, homeless, hungry, and destitute. After training evangelists all over England, the couple returned to the west end of London in 1875 and formed their organization, the Christian Mission. In 1878 while reading the annual report for the Christian Mission he noticed the phrase "The Christian Mission is a volunteer army." William Booth crossed out volunteer army and replaced it with salvation army. From then on converts became soldiers of Christ or Salvationists. The groups message spread quickly and today they serve over 100 countries. The Salvation Army has churches throughout the world called Salvation Army corps but they are probably best known for their thrift stores. When items are purchased at the stores the money supports the Salvation Army's emergency relief efforts and programs. Unlike a lot of businesses the Salvation Army will hire ex felons. Some of the shops support the Adult Rehabilitation Centers which help people combat addiction. When you donate to or buy from the Salvation Army you are helping to support many worthwhile programs. I discovered this Salvation Army store while driving through Pembroke Pines. It used to be a Rooms to Go and the large size of the building caught my eye. As an avid thrifter I am always up to exploring a new store and this location was busy on a Saturday afternoon. Inside was one of the nicest Salvation Army stores I have ever been in South Florida although it still had that distinctive musty odor if you know what I mean. In the front of the store you will find large pieces of furniture like sofas, desks, and tables. Towards the back of the store are racks upon racks of clothes all organized by color and type. The amount of clothes was truly astounding. I feel like they could clothe the entire city of Pembroke Pines. Rounding out the inventory are accessories, home goods, toys, and books. If you were starting out in your first apartment you could get most of what you need here. Some of the things I picked up weren't in the best condition as they were broken or chipped. Take the time to really examine every item before you purchase. That said, if you ae a bargain hunter you will be in your element.

They had a good selection of women's clothes that were attractively arranged and priced. They have a very nice dressing room area set up in the back of the store which is a welcome feature and not often provided by thrift stores. You can try on anything that catches your fancy, purchase clothing, and consign your gently worn items. Another Chance also sells accessories, housewares and knick knacks. I didn't see any furniture for sale but I think they have it from time to time. Help the planet and save money with thrift. Davie has so many great second hand stores and you can add Another Chance to the list.

My mother needed a new wardrobe, first place I thought of? This amazing little shop. How comforting it was to see ms. k was still there. She told me she also struggled with staying in business with being temporarily shut down. "I'm like a weed, you can't mow me down. I shoot right back up." As my mother toddled in with her aide and me, another customer gave up the "waiting for someone forever" chair. Everyone inside the store shopping or otherwise was just as friendly, wearing masks and social distancing. A little quieter than usual, but still welcoming; the atmosphere was the same. Great fashionable, well stocked, and discerning selection she is known for. Clothes are still fairly priced. The selection is still classy and eclectic, "grown" woman clothes I like to say.
