Great little find. The prices were great. Some things they know what they have in terms of value so they are trying to sell it at that price to help the hospital. Most people there are volunteers. Another over priced thrift store. We wanted to love this place because it benefits the AV hospital. Unfortunately, it is so overpriced, ridiculously so. This seems to be the common theme at some of these thrift stores. I will never understand the logic of this. You get the items for free. If you list at a reasonable price point, people will buy it up. I did find a shirt for my daughter that was reasonably priced. Would I return? Didn't have a good experience here. Prices are very high way above eBay and the employees attitude about it was very defensive and rude. This is a thrift store in Lancaster selling stuff they got for free. I would avoid this place. Salvation Army money also goes to charity but their prices are way more reasonable. Avoid. read more

Great thrift store for womens clothes not so much for mens. Sparse selection of foot wear. Craft supplies and book abundance. The cleanliness and organization of the store stuck out the most to me as well as plus sizes going up to a 3x / 24 W. The pricing isn't terrible and there's sales racks. It's quit small but still has a good variety in my opinion especially for basics. The customer service wasn't bad nor over the top, something I don't mind as I am quiet. I saw lots of complaints about the service in these reviews but I didn't hear any gossip or rudeness during my visit, perhaps they changed management practices. This thrift store is super cute! Lots of racks to go through and plenty of housewares and media to browse. Prices are a little on the more expensive side, but proceeds benefit the Antelope Valley Hospital. Staff was super kind and the vibes were great! read more

Anything really good is bought by the volunteers here for super cheap, or just taken to thier cars. They bark about how they are just volunteers, and have to clean up after people. They gossip about one another, because they are all older and have nothing better to do. It's a sad little place to visit. read more

This store has been in this location since 1971. Our thrift store does pick-up for free and we take everything offered for donation. Our thrift store receives items we can't sell. These items are taken, by our volunteers, to Grace Resources, the Homeless Shelter & the Domestic Violence Shelter in Lancaster. We also donate clothing to Antelope Valley Hospital's "Franks Closet", which supplies clothing to patients in need. The profits from this store are donated annually to Antelope Valley Hospital to purchase medical equipment to benefit our community. You should't make negative reviews without all the facts. New to You is an extremely well organized store with a fantastic staff. The staff helped me with product information and provide a warm and pleasant atmosphere to shop in. This thrift store is a complete joke mainly due to the store manager Tracy's lack of complete competence. I have been a customer of this thrift store for the last few years and was very happy with the service and treatment I recieved from the previous store manager Sue. I frequent this thrift store and many more in the area often, as I am constantly on the hunt for vintage clothing. Since Sue has left and the store, and now is being ran into the ground by the new store manger Tracy, my shopping experiences on three occasions have been disgusting. Tracy the store manager is rude, incompetent, and doesn't know anything about running a retail business. She hoardes the clothing, she doesn't get donations out fast enough, and when she puts clothing on display, you then ask to purchase the item, she says that " I can't sell the clothing because I have a theme going on, if I sell this to you, then my theme is going to be messed up, because I have nothing to replace it with". Well unless you can make money off of " Themes" I suggest she starts selling the clothes. Her policy is the most obsured and illogical thing I have ever heard of. If you walk into any successful clothing retail store and you see something that you want on the mannequin, I guarantee you that they will sell it to you, that's the purpose of putting something on display.... This New to You thrift store is in business to sell clothing and other donated items to make money, the funds are then donated to the Antelope Valley Hospital. So not selling something because your "Theme" Tracy, defeats your stores purpose. It's the most ridiculous thing I've heard of. It gets in the way of your PURPOSE and that is to collect money for the AV Hospital. I've spoken with the head of the store and she works for AV Hospital Jackie, the manger above Tracy and she said" The idea of holding on to items because of a "Theme" was actually not a good idea and that she would correct it". I have been in the store since then, and Tracy has not changed. The clothing that I wanted to purchase on display was still not available because of her "Theme" and Tracy even said that she was holding the pieces for someone else, when she felt like selling them. Is it a race thing??? I'm not sure??? I have spent hundreds of dollars at this thrift store under the proper management of Sue, but now that Tracy has taken over, I will never ever shop there again. I heard that this shop was under new management, and decided to give it another shot. It is cleaner, and I can see why! On my back out to my truck, one lady was unloading the donation truck. She then immediately took whatever bags there were and put them in her small SUV. I thought this establishment was for the AV Hospital? I love the place. I've been there a number of times throughout the years...I sometimes miss them as they close a little early for me...but I've always enjoyed it and walked away with items I really needed! A couple of times I called in advance to see if there was any such item that I was looking for...window air conditioners and such...and they were kind enough to let me know. I'd go and sure as heck, it/they would suit my needs and I'd make a purchase. Very good prices. The help is tremendous there. I came on here (yelp...and I rarely do this...only when either very impressed...and once, when very disappointed with some company)...this is not the norm for me. But I always, always enjoy paying a compliment when it's due, face to face or otherwise, because none of us get enough of that -- everyone is usually very quick to speak up when dissatisfied, but not usually the other way around. As I always tell people (when they are so shocked I go to lengths...such as to talk to managers, and such) ...when impressed by them it's okay to be deserving. Lol, funny that people are shocked. Anyway, back to New to You...I'm a little surprised to read this other review honestly by whoever it was that gave a one-star. To each their own. But honestly, these people are good. I shopped there before the new management and after. I suppose one could says there's always a bad apple somewhere if this actually was as she stated. But you know, taking things at face value alone can be dangerous. I'm thinking maybe that person and the store knew something she didn't. Don't know. Maybe it was a pre-arrangement with a friend who was donating or something...and since a truck was available...y'know? Who's to say. So as I said, who knows what the circumstance was. My experience is they are good people. There's a lot of thrift stores and their proprietors out there that in my opinion don't give much in the way of customer service or their clientele. I've asked for help sometimes at some of the other places and was refused, literally, being told that it's all "out there" and just being dismissed...which frankly sort of ticks me off (but didn't write a review). And sometimes those places were huge and sometimes boutiques. That's why, when so impressed (good assistance, etc. seems to be a rarity these days...unfortunately)...I must speak up. I'm just a shopper. I don't own or run a thrift store of my own (though it sounds fun). I'm not in competition with anyone. All I know is that in my numerous times there, it was pleasant and fruitful and the assistance I received from the ladies in the front, and sometimes the guys and the other ladies in the back, has been tremendous. I don't like shopping much. So I appreciate going in, browsing where it's friendly, and getting what I want. And leaving, still, with a smile on my face.
