Checking in was easy. Luckily you can fill out your waiver online. Pat was extremely kind and educated on rafting, different classes of rafting, rocks, plants, animals. Best time ever! Seeing the canyon from the water was a whole new experience. Our guide, Terra, was wonderful. Take the opportunity to get into the water when you're given the option. You are in a dry suit so don't get wet, but you can still feel the coolness of the water. We had so much fun, had a smile on our faces the whole time. They are just across the street from the Mt. McKinley Chalet. Sign in was easy. Instructions about putting on the gear was clear and concise. They made sure everything was out in and snug. This was one of the best whitewater trips I have been on. The company provided everything we needed, including shoes to wear over the drysuits. Our guide was Louis. Three of us in the raft had done it before, and three were doing it for the first time. Even though we had newbies, we all wanted to hit the rapids as much as we could. Some of the guides in the boats ahead of us were steering clear of some of the rapids, but not us. Louis made sure we were able to go through them safely. Of the rafts in our group, we were probably the most adventurous and had the most fun, cheering after each rapid. At one point, were were allowed to get in the water if we wanted it. It was great. If you love whitewater rafting (or even if you are unsure) this is definately the guys to get your feet wet with. read more

Definitely a must do while visiting Denali! The dry suits kept us nice and dry just be sure to layer up and you will be fine. When the water hits your face it really is refreshing and the way your skin feels afterwards is amazing. Their really is something to that glacier water, glacial facial for free! ALLIE KAT was the BEST!!! She did an incredible job of steering us so we could visualize all the cool things during our adventure. She was very knowledgeable about the area as well. You can tell she LOVES what she does!! So happy to be a paddler on her boat! Double D was awesome with gear up time and had some great jokes on the bus, didn't get to experience his boat though! Great time, highly recommend! FYI: wear warm socks and clothes... the dry suit was great! And you won't be wearing gloves out there but it wasn't too bad even in 45 degree rainy weather we had. Went in August 2022 with Drew as the rafting guide. Drew was an awesome guide who made sure you felt safe and secure during the ride. The rafting trip alone was very exciting with beautiful views of the rocky interface and rushing rapids. I went rafting in class 3-4 rapids in Nenana river in Alaska. I liked that New Wave was very organized and quirky with the intro from Bryce (hes really funny if you get his humor). I liked how they thought of everything such as having a nice bench to sit on to change into dry suit and sneakers to borrow so your own shoes don't get wet. They help you get into the bulky dry suit and give a detailed overview of how to get into them. The only thing that could get wet is your hands or a bit of your cuffs. Highly recommend. As someone that doesn't swim, I felt very safe and this is rare. And the company is close to a bunch of cool gift shops in Denali. read more

After reading up on the outfitters, I chose the newest outfit on the block and I'm glad I did. Co-owner "Chicago" took us out on the milder trip that we chose. We were the only raft going at 8am on that Saturday in this off-year yet they still sent along a second raft for safety even though we weren't doing the intense portion of the river. Chicago was extremely experienced having been a guide on this river for many years along with many other places throughout the world such as India and SE Asia. He was patient and friendly and their gear was in great shape. I was glad to see they are taking COVID seriously, requiring a mask while indoors and trying to keep transactions touchless. They also had a COVID waiver to sign which seems a little over the top (nobody else in Alaska that we encountered did this) but it was no big deal. Just an extra piece of paper to sign. A couple of tips are (1) wear warm clothing even if is a sunny day and (2) avoid drinking too much coffee or liquids in the morning as it will make you uncomfortable near the end. read more

My boyfriend and I went rafting guides Stormy and Moose during our first trip out to Alaska and Denali National Park. We had such a good time & felt safe, respected, and cared for. The entire process is extremely well thought out: the crew first ensures you are fitted into a very effective wet suit and have the proper attire on (wear layers)! They then provide transit to the river, set up the boats & provide detailed instructions on how to be safe on the water. Throughout the ride Stormy chatted with us about fun facts, provided suggestions on what to do in the area and was overall such a joy to spend our time with! Afterwards they pick up in a nice, heated van and take you back to the shop! My one piece of feedback is that I wish I was encouraged to bring waterproof gloves because my hand on the row side was very cold after getting splashed with 34 degree river water. The excursion was really intense at times but could also be extremely scenic. I highly recommend this company and think that booking an excursion with NWA during your time in Denali is the go to move :) read more
