Wow! What a great experience we had with our guides Dylan and Charlie! I came yesterday with my mom and dad and they told me I had to ride alone because they needed a break from all my yapping. As soon as we walked in my parents didn't even stand next to me for the safety speech. But, that's ok because I made great new friends in the guides like Dylan and Charlie! Dylan was a fellow Tennessean and we thought it was Charlie the Michigander, but that was someone else. Charlie was a Massachusettean I think, maybe Pennsylvanian (I don't know their slang names). Charlie told my mom where he was from, and she forgot - it's the older age you know. Dylan taught me my single ATV rules and instilled me with the upmost confidence that I would nail the ride! Dylan also told me I would ride right behind him and I was so excited to be the second leader of the group. Charlie was our caboose, making sure we all followed the rules and stayed safe - which we did. Dylan took us all around and to the first stop where he talked about Otto lake and other historical parts of the overlook that I didn't fully absorb. My brain is so full with all those academics you know. But, Dylan did teach me moose could dive up to 20 feet! Dylan even told us a time he watched a grizzly stalk a moose but it stayed swimming for an hour until Dylan had to go back to work. He left us on a cliffhanger, added more excitement to our adventure. At our next stop, Charlie told us all about the rocks and sand. Charlie knew a lot about what he was talking about. Charlie threw in some good jokes that just couldn't get our crowd laughing. For Charlie's sake though, I think it was because our tour consisted of mostly 60+ year olds and they just couldn't hear the knee slappers. Dylan went and found some cool rocks for Charlie to talk about, I tuned out the rock info myself but then Charlie used one rock to rub against another wet rock and made a cool red chalk. Charlie used it for eyeblack and then shared with us so I got to have eye black too!! During this stop Charlie and Dylan both entertained my parents with answering questions and inquiries my parents had. Charlie and Dylan were so nice to my parents as I got to play in the creek and look at cool rocks. I'm realizing someone reading this might think I'm a child, I'm actually an adult child very excited about my ATV tour with Dylan and Charlie. Then we went to another stop. The stops were lovely because my little hand on the ATV handle really struggled to keep my thumb so reached out and pressing the gas throttle. We seemed to stop just before my thumb cramped up too bad. Dylan and Charlie must be very smart to know the perfect stopping points. Dylan told us a cool story about Chris McCandless, I won't spoil it. Charlie stayed on top of the safety rules, making sure we were always buckled up and staying in line. He said we did fantastic and we were a great group and gave us a round of applause! Dylan took us through some water, it was so bizarre. I'm all out of order on the timing of this ride now. But I just have to keep including all the cool things Dylan and Charlie provided us in this ride. By the end of the trip Dylan and Charlie told us we should review the ride and tell people what they should bring. I would say bring everything they tell you on the website and maybe a ziploc baggie to bring home rocks and coal for your loved ones at home!!!!! So much coal you can bring home for Christmas morning. Charlie and Dylan then both said to make sure we say their name in our review. I think they have a healthy competition between guides as to whose name is dropped more. I really hope my post helped out Dylan and Charlie! Though, I am considering it only counts per post not per name count in the post. That could make for me looking really silly. But, in the end I'd highly recommend this ride. Especially with Dylan and Charlie. Though they were all just so kind and happy there. Have the bestest time. And, if your family is getting sick of you, take the single you won't regret it!!! read more

This was a fun excursion. We booked the "Midnight Sun Tour" which took off around 9pm and got done around 11pm. Driving around, just outside Denali National Park made for some great views. It was also cool to be doing it late at night (even though the sun was still up or just setting because it was summer) Our guides really seemed to enjoy leading us around and talking about the surrounding area during the 3 pit stops along the way. Great places to take pictures! Ride was rough and very bumping (which was perfect for an ATV trip!). Even though it was bumpy, the machines were comfortable and seemed to be well taken care of. No one in our group had any problems. An excursion to add to your list for sure. read more

First ATV experience, sales people were great and informative. Management at ATV start park was good, we had a tour leader "Rooster" very fun and entertaining. Then there was the employee who's named after a car part that cools an engine, this young man could use some people skills in engaging with the customer. At second stop he jumped out and aggressively addressed driving with a customer, infront of all the customers. I understand staff is in charged of safety concerns, but he went over the top , the customer was trying to keep up safely with vehicles without rear ending at a high speed. This young man needs to work on interaction with PAYING customers and simmer down his cocky attitude. This would be beneficial to company. Also if you like high speed racing in dusty, bumpy routes and minimal view until stopped, this is your adventure read more

We had Bucket and Canon as our tour guides for the midnight drive, and I cannot emphasize enough how incredibly fun the experience was. Would 1000% recommend participating in this ATV adventure, they take you out to three very cool spots that oversee incredible Alaskan terrain - plus lots of driving through water that splashes like a water park haha. The roads are pretty bumpy, but it's perfect for an ATV and makes the experience even better. Also lots of wildlife to see if you get lucky! Overall, it's very safe and the guides make sure everyone is feeling good about their vehicle and knows the rules. Bucket was incredibly kind to my sisters and I, and made sure everyone had the best time ever. We had an amazing experience today on our Side by Side ATV ride. Our guides, Charlie and Natalie were awesome. They both really knew the lay of the land, told us what we should expect along the way and even shared stories of our surroundings. ATV Adventures has a great course with a choice of machines, from single rider to 4-place ATVs. My wife & I were each on singles and had a blast going over everything the countryside had to offer including fording Dry Creek. The guides, Cat & Aiden (sp?) were great at marshalling us as well as telling us interesting bits about where we were and why "stuff" was the way it was. It was fun, and I wouldn't discourage anyone from having a Denali ATV Adventures experience. Provided transportation to and from a spot right across from our lodge made things convenient. It was a good second-half to a day whose morning was spent taking a bus ride through Denali National Park. Now to justify my rating. There were 3 things that bothered me. One, you're in the middle of a "pack" led by a guide and tailed by a guide. There's so little freedom that they literally tell you to drive in the tracks of the vehicle in front of you. Needless to say, you're not supposed to go any faster or slower than the guide in front. I got in (mild) trouble for slowing down until I could see through the thick dust kicked up by the vehicles in front of me. Apparently I was supposed to keep my speed up and drive blind, at extreme risk of rear-ending anyone stopped in front of me. Two, way too much time was spent just standing around during stops. The format was to drive as a pack to a spot, kill the machines and get out. There a guide would tell you a bit about what you could see, and then, dead time - way too much dead time. An obvious way to reduce fuel costs and wear-and-tear, but not what we paid for (ATV riding). Three, our guide told us "Russian fur traders introduced mosquitoes to Alaska". It's laughably false - I checked later to be 100% sure - and after that I didn't trust or want to hear anything that came out of her mouth. This made the stops feel like an even bigger waste of time. read more

Hold on! We are going on a bumpy ride! It rained the day before and was raining highly the day we went atving. You ride in a quad side by side. Driving was fun at first, but I wanted to see the scenery, then my cousin drove. You drive about 15 miles over dry creek beds and hills and overlook some of Denali. Choosing free rocks was the highlight. I got Jadite and Quartz. My older aunt also drove. The price was $490 for 4, and they are jonsing for tips. Would have been much better for warmer weather and no rain. We took a chance with weather a month ago when booked. read more

I very rarely write negative reviews with tour guides and the only reason they get 3 stars from me is because I am a small business owner. The guides were nice people and took great care of my Daughter but the tour itself was as boring as can be...as you can see by my sleeping children mid-drive. Do NOT buy your tour from Princess or Holland and book directly...check Alaska Tour Saver for great coupons. If I paid full price for this ATV tour, I would be furious and would give a one star review. However, we enjoyed a discounted tour but it was just boring, dusty & you can't see much. Some might say, "it's Alaska in the summer so what do you expect them to do about the dust?" Well, they could water the trail with a tow behind once or twice a day to reduce some of the dust & for the money...they should. I would not pay the full published price for this tour...if you get a coupon then maybe. If you have done ATV tours before then don't book this one...spend your money on the zip line tour which I believe is owned but the same company and I will be giving them a stellar review because they are amazing...and you get an ATV experience going into the zip line park and out of the park. Seriously...some of the very best guides I have ever experienced. One last comment - most ATV tours give you a dust cover for your face for free which is the right thing to do but DATVA charges $8 for two of them which felt cheap and opportunistic. If you are going to charge for every little item for a $500+ tour then give everyone the dust cover for their face...better yet...groom your trails and maybe you will reduce the need for them. Upon check-in you have to sign some waivers. Standard stuff. You can rent the Side-by-Sides or 4-wheelers. All rentals are tours - guided. They don't just rent you a vehicle for you to go ripping through the area. We had a blast! I think there were like 12 or more side by sides that went out on this tour! Thankfully, everyone on our tour seemed comfortable in the ATVs so there were no issues at all. (We went out in early August and the weather was perfect! Clear and Sunny morning!) Our guides were Jenny, Shane and Jeremiah. All of them were awesome! They kept us all together and made sure we didn't stray, and told us entertaining tidbits at each stop. There were 3 stops, and each of them gave a "schpeel". What they said exactly, I can't remember. I do remember it was entertaining and good info with some story-telling history. But like much of this 10-day adventure tour I'm on... it went in one ear and out the other... I enjoyed what I heard and found it cool, but for the life of me can't rememer what they said. Although, I do remember Shane showing us some neat rocks down in the dry (mostly dry) river bed area that we stopped in. The tour went way too fast. Although, I think start to finish it was about 2.5 hours. It felt fast. We got back dusty and all spun up on adrenaline even though this is mostly a pretty tame adventure. You get going like 24 mph and it feels like you're doing 60. ha! Note: I highly recommend you empty your bladder before going out for a ride. You get bounced around quite a bit, and there are no outhouses out on the trails. read more

We had so much fun on the trails and on our nature stops, they are both clearly so passionate and knowledgeable about the area. If you want to have fun and learn about Denali I highly recommend!! I'm in absolute shock. They wasted 1.5-2 hours of our time by picking us up and driving us to the tour area. Once we got off the bus they told us that the bus driver said I was drinking alcohol !!! Who in the world would drink before atv-ingg????? I told three different workers to smell my breath and all and they just kept saying "you need to leave" they ruined our last day there and I will never forgive them for this. Took this ATV tour on Aug 9th and it was a blast. Although it was rainy , muddy that just added to the experience. Our guides Bumblebee, Skeeter and Bucket, were great. The views were diminished due to the rain but the trail experience and the drive thru the dry creek bed was awesome. The leads all participated in explaining different aspects of the stops we made and really enhanced the tour. I highly recommend this ATV experience if you are in the Denali Park area. Well worth it. If I could give the adventure and company zero stars, I absolutely would. The company does not really cater to non experience riders as they advertise and countless others have also indicated in their reviews. I wish I would have read all the reviews first as I definitely would have booked with another company. One that was demonstrates patience and integrity. First they take you through an approximate 30 second test to see if you are capable of riding the trails on the single ATV. After passing , almost immediately I was pulled from the single ATV and made to ride in the jeep although that is not what I paid for. The reason given was that I was not keeping up. Not sure why they group experience and non experience riders together then allow the experience riders to set the pace up front and the non Experience riders in the rear. As a new rider I was still getting use to the accelerator. It that was not good enough. They did not give an second chance. You are just pulled. They do not try and work with you. They have no patience. All I was told it that we have to be at certain points and certain times and he had to pull me from the ATV, like I now see how many countless have also have also experienced I would not recommend this company for new riders (or any riders). read more
