New Wave is my favorite local Comic Book Shop. Jason and co. are the nicest people, and are happy to welcome anyone, whether it's their first time or they come in every week. This isn't a snoody insider shop, where an angry neckbeard will laugh at you for not knowing your Image from your Darkhorse. These folks are happy to help anybody with their first venture into comics, or will kindly leave the veterans to browse. They will set up a pull-list for you, if you want to keep up to date on the latest issues, which is even easier and more convenient to do from home if you use Facebook or Instagram. Just follow their posts and comment on their new release postings to pre-order anything in advance. And my favorite Sunday activity is following their weekly "Claims," where they feature new-to-the-store key issues and bundles at great deals. It's also a great spot for Free Comic Book Day and Halloween. They have some back issues, including some nice expensive finds on the wall and behind the glass, but since it's not the biggest shop in the world, you could probably look elsewhere for that. The customer service and atmosphere is what I come for, though, so it's my first and primary destination for new books. read more

Before reviewing New Wave, parking is an issue. There seems to be a small lot to the side, but I ended up parking across the street at another business. New Wave Comics and Collectibles is a good sized shop with some room to grow. They have an extensive selection of new pull comic books that was quite impressive. Longbox selection was mostly newer books from the last few years. The selection of Pop Vinyls was large including some exclusives. Graphic novel selection was good, well organized, and also included some Manga. New Wave has some gaming items including Magic: The Gathering cards. Staff was pleasant to talk with. We stumbled upon New Wave during a visit to Skippack for a car show. The owner was personally working the shop. Our daughter who was new to the comic hobby had many questions and Jason was more than happy to help her out and offer suggestions. Last year was the first time I stopped here with a friend, who is a frequent customer. The first (and only) grimace I have is the parking, which is small and cramped and not easy to get out of. Once that is out of the way, the store itself is fantastic. They have a great selection of new and old comics, I particularly enjoy the bigger volume comic products and this is where I usually come to get them since one of the Uncannys closed down at the Plymouth Meeting Mall. The owner is also pretty cool as well and I enjoy the rewards program they have. Stopped by the store for a quick minute after skiing at Spring Mountain for the day; super nice guy at the counter who greeted me and talked about some great books we both live. Being new to PA, I needed to find a place to play Magic: the Gathering. I like having one store instead of jumping around every week. You get to know other players and the staff and it starts to feel like home. After two weeks of FNM, I've really started to enjoy the shop. There are some spikes and try-hards during FNM, but no more than a normal shop. They also host a casual game night on Thursday for play testing and commander, along with any other games you feel like playing. They have some money cards in the display case, but most of their cards are in long boxes that you have to dig through. If you don't mind doing the work, it's worth your time. They have a large collection of comics and toys, plus more board games for sale. It's a great shop in a great area. Jason is an awesome dude and all of his staff are very friendly. Whether you're a new player or have a ton of experience, New Wave is a great place to jam some cardboard or just hang out. read more
