My Ddebtal assistant was SUPER nice, when i first got there i was told that i needed to pay a $89 copay for x-rays- i didn't have the money at the time and they set up a payment plan for me so i could pay it the next day because that's when i would've had the money, turned out they needed a panoramic x-ray as well and that would've been $115 but they were excellent and they canceled out that price for me because i needed to get it done. on top of that i live an hour away and i was under the impression i was supposed to get a cleaning that day as well- turns out i was wrong but the dental assistant had the extra time and cleaned my teeth for me anyways because i haven't had a consistent dentist for a while, that place is all in all a great place and i will continue to go there for as long as i can read more

When I first entered the practice, it felt welcoming. The office was clean and had a pleasant fragrance. I was accompanying a friend to her dental appointment due to her severe anxiety. Unfortunately, my impression of the practice quickly changed. While waiting, I overheard the office manager--an elderly woman--rudely gossiping about another employee to a colleague. This behavior was completely unprofessional and inappropriate to occur in front of patients. It made me seriously question the work environment and whether such conduct is tolerated by leadership. I had considered becoming a new patient, as my previous dentist recently retired, but after witnessing this, I'll be going elsewhere. I strongly recommend that management receive proper training on professionalism and workplace behavior. read more

Dr. Pannu's only overriding concern is to get your money and get you out the door. Zero patient communication, no explanation, they get all kinds of evasive when you ask billing or payment questions. Without ever even mentioning it to me, they stuck several crowns into my care plan. $8k for an ill-fitting, painful set of dentures that Dr. Pannu told me I'd "just have to get used to, that's the way they are" and he specifically implied that it was my fault because I didn't get the crowns that he never discussed with me or explained why I needed them. 99% sure that he wouldn't adjust the dentures because of my refusal. If this was any other kind of business, they'd be bankrupt and/or in prison by now. read more

NY Dental is fantastic, and I was especially impressed with how easy it was to schedule an appointment quickly through their user-friendly online portal. The office itself is clean, bright, and the staff are all very polite and professional. My hygienist did a thorough and efficient cleaning, and the x-ray process was equally quick and professional. There were just two minor drawbacks: unfortunately, there wasn't a water fountain available (though I understand that's not a huge deal), and I did experience a 30-minute wait time before being seen. Despite the wait, this is a great dental practice, and I've already referred both co-workers and friends here. I am sad, though, because they will soon be out of network for me. So I recently went here to get 8 teeth extracted. I tried to tell the dentist how much I don't like the dentist and how much it makes me nervous to be there and how much I hated needles in my mouth.1 he proceeded to say everything would be fine and that I would t feel anything. Do he have me novocaine on the top and bottom on my left side of my mouth I needed 6 teeth pulled there. So he put the novocaine in went to another office or something help somebody else when he came back you told me I would not feel a thing all I would feel is some pressure. He had this thing in his hand that reminded me of a screwdriver he proceeded to take that thing in his hand and shove it into my gums into my tooth which hurt very much. He told me if I felt anything and needed him to stop to raise my left hand so that is what I did. He immediately stopped and told me I needed to be sedated and they'd give me a referral. So my mouth throbbing and bleeding I stood there and waited for the referral. Now an hour after this I can feel my top lip completely and my bottom lip is still very numb. I just think his response should have been maybee to use more novocaine that's what my old dentist would have done. Plus the pain I am in right now is not very fun or good at all. Very disappointed and will NEVER go back here again!!!!! So beware. read more

I started seeing New York dental, at 4501 Vestal pkwy east Vestal, NY about two years ago. I had absolutely no problems with them, and was pleased with their services up until July of this year. (2019) My issues started with the two snobbish secretaries, Sara, and Nadine. In July I was told, due to a medication that I take I would need to have some extensive periodontal work on my gums and teeth, that New York dental did not provide. So Sara, had informed me that I needed to find a periodontist, and in the meantime, they would fax my insurance, for prior authorization, for the services that I would need. Several weeks had passed, and I heard absolutely nothing, so I decided to call and see what they had found out. I ended up speaking with Nadine, and she had no idea as to what I was talking about, so I became noticeably frustrated, was put on hold, and was told that she would submit the information, later that afternoon. I agreed, and was told to check back in a week or two to see what to do next. Two weeks later, I did just that. I spoke to Sara, and was told that they were waiting on a response from my insurance company, and to try back in another week. I decided to contact my insurance company to see what the hold up was, as I had never waited this long for requested services from my insurance, they were usually pretty snappy. Upon speaking with the insurance agent, I was told that they never received what I was talking about. I yet again contacted Vestal dental, and spoke to Nadine, and I explained that my insurance company stated they never received a referral, for the services in question. Nadine, proceeded to tell me in a condescending tone, that they do at least a hundred of these referrals a day, and that it was impossible for my insurance company to not receive the information that was sent. I tried to remain as calm as possible when speaking back to Nadine, but at this point I was pretty furious, I requested that the information be sent again, Nadine agreed, and I continued to wait. Approximately four weeks later I phoned my insurance provider again and was told the same exact thing one month prior. I decided to drive 40 miles out of my way, (round trip) to see if we could clear up this issue in person, as a phone conversation was the last thing that I wanted to go through again. When I went in, I spoke to Sara, and she let me know with attitude, that this just does not happen, she didn't understand what the problem was, I went to respond, and she decided to answer a phone call, I stood there for 3 minutes while she was talking to, "her husband," I assumed, as the phone call sounded personal, meanwhile there are three other secretaries doing absolutely nothing, I went and sat down, until she was done. In the meantime I had heard pretty much her entire conversation, as she was quite loud and the place was pretty empty. I became pretty upset, because the personal call she took was about other patients that she had assisted with that week, giving personal detail, such as names, and what they were being treated for, completely, undermining the privacy and HIPAA of the patients she was talking about. I left, and requested my dental records a week later. And still as of 12/30/2019 my insurance company, hasn't received the proper information to process the request. New to the area, these guys are amazing. The first thing my husband said when we walked in was, "Wow, this is a really nice waiting area. Look at the art!" It's really a lovely arrangement. The front desk staff are very nice. Also, we didn't have to wait past our appointment time. My hygienist, Megan, was super friendly and when she found out we had just moved to Binghamton, she gave a lot of great recommendations for places to go and eat and see. The best part of the visit is that the staff actually READ the forms that we filled out. I can't tell you how many times I have to fill out a ton of new patient paperwork, then have to tell the staff everything I filled in. They even used our preferred names that we had noted. So, because she read the papers, Megan knew beforehand that I have a bad gag reflex for the x-rays, and made sure to be as quick as possible with the bitewings-even telling me I could pull them out as soon as the beep sounded. I've never had a dental office be so kind and understanding about my 'issues', lol. This was the first time in a long time that I didn't feel like my teeth were being pulled out by the root during the cleaning! Dr. Pannu was very nice and, thankfully, saw no issues for concern. My husband also liked his hygienist very much, and though he will likely have to come back soon to get a crown redone, he doesn't have any dentist-anxiety about this office! read more

i'm only giving a star because the lady who scheduled me was a sweetheart ... i had called on 03/05/21 to schedule a appt because my molar broke out of my gums and the infection it's causing since my gum is exposed, they did one for 03/12 on a Friday.. a week later was the soonest and I had to take the day off because I work M-F I was a tad irritated when i arrived. they had changed my time then when i get there i called the number to let them know i'm there i was put on hold , just for them to say they bumped my appt because they couldn't verify my insurance and wouldn't verify it there.. they tried to say they kept calling me.. they called once at 4p on 03/11 and they closed at 5p. I work until 6p and already used all my breaks for the day. They had a whole week to contact me. That just rubbed me so wrong , I will never do business with people so inconsiderate. He'll try* to flirt with the hygenists the whole time hes not paying attention to your mouth and then the hygienists will get on a high horse and think they're actual dentists and give you THE WORST advice (presented as sound fact) without consulting a real medical professional...which is perhaps fair since they don't have a real medical professional in the building. The arrogance and lack of professionalism/ownership is something Ive never experienced in a medical setting. My husband has used this place for years so I decided to try them. My first visit was a cleaning and the lady BARELY touched my teeth. She was afraid because I told her I get nervous at dentists. So basically, she did not put any energy into cleaning my teeth. It was ridiculous honestly. I took the blame on myself for telling her I get nervous. I was told I needed 2 root canals, which I had known but had been avoiding for years due to cost and fear, basically. I had no pain, no infection at this point. But they were reasonable so I moved forward. Go in for 2 root canals. Dr RAMS the needle into my gums. I was squeezing him in pain. I never had a root canal so I accepted it as part of it. Through the procedure I felt no pain at all and I was extremely happy about that. After procedure as I was sat up, I felt the pressure in my face and asked if I would have a headache. The assistant basically said yea a little and shrugged it off suggesting a nap. By time I left the building I felt the pain creeping in. I assumed the doctor prescribed a pain med as he asked about my allergies. HE PRESCRIBED 500MG TYLENOL!! I took the Tylenol because I'm an obedient patient, trusting a medical professional and MAYBE it would work. Within an hour, the side of my face was like a mack truck hit it. Nose, eye and ear was in excruciating pain. I called them pretty much in tears. Ashley seemed to want to help but maybe she was really busy and sounded annoyed and told me she would check with them when they come out of a procedure. No call back. So 2 hours later I call back. Ashley still seemed like I was asking too much. By this time I'm full out crying. She puts me on hold and the assistant comes back to basically tell me the amoxicillin will stop the pain. An antibiotic. When I had no infection to start. She tried to tell me I did. She didn't even know my circumstances. My procedure was preemptive. She told me she wouldn't ARGUE and got off the line. WHY IS MY PAIN AN ARGUMENT TO START WITH? I called back and TAMMY was RUDE. A receptionist was now giving me medical advice in a condescending and rude manner, pretty much taunting me. I was upset and crying. I asked for the dentist to call me and was refused. I told her I wanted to escalate it and basically was told there is no escalation and she told me to have a nice day and HUNG UP ON ME. Not one time did any of them try to assist me. I requested my medical records and am reporting them to the medical professionals board. My husband called back and got Gwen and she helped him as well as got me an adequate pain reliever called in. By 4pm!!! I suffered horrid pain all day long. There was no sense of empathy or compassion by any person besides Gwen. Professionally, they abandoned me and ignored me as a patient during a time in need of medical attention which is against the law and medical ethics. They can possibly be fined a hefty fine. I now have two teeth that need crowns and I have to find some new dentist to come in and pick up where they left off. AND SPEND MORE MONEY. This was my most horrible medical experience in my life. I have good insurance and make good money and pay my bills. I did not go in there with any complaints of pain. I am not an addict. Not sure why they treated ME this way but thankfully Gwen tried to make it right in the end. I went to get a temporary crown at Dr. Panus off in July of 21. My previous temporary broke and I am getting a full dental restoration in Costa Rica. there is a huge population from the US that enga in what is called medical tourism. Some of the best dentistry in the world. When I got the temporary from Dr. Panu before going on vacation first he shoved it into my mouth and it pinched my gum which caused an open wound. I could not wear the temporary at all on vacation because it was extremely painful to wear. I paid. 1500 dollars for a temporary made out of acrylic and some other type of flexible plastic which There cost is likely less than a hundred dollars to make. When I got back over the next two wikis I went back 4 times. 1. He would not listen to me and rushed through trying to o adjust it, Istill could not wear it. I went back again. I told him that it should fit for 1500 He had the nerve to tell me that that was irrelevant because I know it was a temporary. I went back for the 3rd time after the front tooth broke off they tried to fix it but it fell off the next day. Then they told me I would need to wait until after vacation I told his wife, who Is also the office manager that I wanted a refund. She had no intention of honoring it because I was informed it was a temp. read more

back in 08 when i was 22 i had insurance through Catholic Charities, and i couldn't use my normal dentist with this insurance, so i ended up going here a few times. i went a couple times for cleaning and was sketched out, like another reviewer said, they don't really talk to you much, they just get down to work and they don't seem too friendly. another time there was a cavity on one of my wisdom teeth, so instead of drillin and fillin it they pulled it and god was i terrified. they didn't put me under, i was awake for the whole thing, but they did numb me up for it. while i couldn't feel the tooth being pulled from my mouth, i did feel pressure from the doctor pulling down with all his might on the vice that he put around the tooth. then, they wouldn't even let me keep the tooth! they said it was medical waste or something and they couldn't give it to me, but a few years later when i had the rest of my wisdom teeth out at lourdes they let me keep the one that didn't break. after this tooth was pulled the gums around it were really sensitive to cold food for a while. that didn't happen when i got the rest of mine taken out at Lourdes. so yeah, if your insurance won't let you go someplace better, good luck. thankfully obamacare kicked in in 2012 while i was still 25 and could get on my dad's insurance to get the rest of my teeth done elsewhere in a more comfortable environment. read more

The staff is friendly, until you start asking questions about why they are stating there is a fee when your insurance pays for exam and 2 cleanings per year as well as many other procedures. #1 about 3-4 years ago, I was told they would now charge patients with GHI insurance the difference between what insurance allows and their fee. I called GHI. They stated it was only for certain procedures. They sent me the list and I informed the office manager and gave her a copy, that she apparently already had. They still insisted there was a fee. GHI called them directly and told them there is no fee for that service. After several correspondences and several weeks, they cleared out my bill. No apology, no call stating they would do this. I had to ask. #2. They insisted the 2 teeth that had fillings needed root canals as, per dentist, they were crushing together and would eventually break. I trusted his word and had them done. I informed him they were hitting the side of my lower teeth. He condescendingly said they were not. Basically, he knew my teeth better than me. It's not like it was my first dentist appt ever. As a result, my teeth shifted. I can feel the tops of the crowns on both and constantly play with it. My husband had a crown on and said the same thing. My teeth have shifted a great deal since then. When I informed him they were shifting, he insisted it was due to the one molar being removed. That tooth was removed in 2002. I highly doubt after 14-15 years it was going to finally cause my teeth to shift. #3. I had chipped a front tooth about 36 years ago. Every 14 years it cap starts to discolor. I asked if they could replace. I was getting married in a couple months and wanted a white smile instead of white with 1 yellowing front tooth. They stated they would remove the old composite and replace with new. I asked why it felt so thick and why they went all the way up the tooth when it was only a small chip at bottom as well as informing him it felt chalky and was not smooth like before. He did his condescending chuckle and said it was not rough and it would get smoother with time. No response on the other issue. What I found out from staff was they didn't remove the old just went over top. Only good thing was there was no fee for this procedure in front teeth. #4. A few weeks ago, I was eating and felt like there was a piece of tiny hard particle in the food. I thought maybe it was the shell of an almond or something in the food I was eating. 3 weeks later, I had pain in my tooth. I called them and informed them. I didn't want to wait another week and 1/2 for my cleaning appt. They did X-rays and said they didn't see anything and asked which tooth it was. I informed them I didn't know as the pain spread over the back 4 top teeth. They stated they saw a cavity in my wisdom and filled it. The dentist there at the time informed me that if it was still an issue and not the correct tooth, she would address it the day of my cleaning the following Friday. She was there until noon. The hygienist also stated she had placed notes in the system. I called back a couple days later and informed the person answering the phone that there was still a lot of pain. She stated she made notes and told me the dentist who addressed it last week can look at it on day of my appt. #5 I go to my cleaning. I inform the hygienist, who was the same hygienist who helped the dentist the week before. She tells me that there will be a fee. I asked why since my insurance covers this. Her response was that my insurance only covered exams once every 2 years and cleaning twice every 2 years. I replied "no, I'm very familiar with my insurance and it covers exams once every year and cleanings 2 times a year. Also, the dentist was not sure which tooth and said if there was an issue she'd address today. Apparently, that dentist was not there and doesn't work Friday's. Why did they tell me she was there until noon if she was not. Hygienist stated there were no notes in the system and implied that I was lying about calling. Then says that I'll need more X-rays and there was a fee. Why do I need another X-ray when they are right there on the screen?? Apparently, I was being too argumentative and she would get another hygienist to assist me. Next a dentist came in and asked what was going on. I tried to tell him, but he snapped at me and said he's addressing the pain not anything else that transpired. I told him and he said it was just sensitivity. I told him it was pain and he basically said I did not know what I was talking about. Apparently, the only time pain is caused is when there is swelling and severe infection. He stated a few things that I honestly think may be true for people with periodontal disease, but they informed me I have good teeth and gums and take very good care of them. #6 so now I'm still in pain. Only reason I switched dentists was due to my previous dentist not accepting GHI. Going back to him!! read more

This place is seriously the worst place to go for having teeth pulled. The place is very clean and it's a lovely setup , but the staff has no concerns about you or your pain after any teeth being pulled. I had wisdom tooth pulled on the left side and all they gave me was ibphrophen for pain. After I told the lady time and time again it wouldn't help because I was already taking an overly accesive amount of Tylenol for the pain I already had before it being pulled she told me that I had to at least try the ibphrophen. I then had to go to the emergency room for the pain because they refused to give me anything. I had another appointment set for 2 weeks after the first one to have 3 more of my wisdom teeth pulled. After the teeth were already pulled the same lady as before told me that because I had received pain medication from the ER that it was illegal for them to give me a prescription for pain killers other than ibphrophen because I couldn't get more than one pain killer prescription in a month prescribed to me even if it was for only a 7 day script. If that's the case then it should be illegal for them to schedule 2 appointments 2 weeks apart from each other. read more

I picked this place because it was across the street from campus. Going here was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. The dentists did not say a single word to me, they just go to work. They told me I had 12 cavities; although upon reading the other reviews just now, that probably isn't true (get a second opinion!!!). Anyway, my insurance was limited so I allowed them to do four fillings. I have been to a lot of dentists back home, but they always gave me white fillings. I had no idea that dentists still used silver fillings until AFTER they were done with me. I can't begin to tell you how upset I am over this; they didn't discuss with me any options and now i have ugly silver fillings in my mouth. Also, i was in extreme pain for about three weeks but was so upset over my experience I didn't want to let them touch me again. To this day I cannot chew most things on the right side of my mouth and my teeth are very sensitive to cold. By the way... this appointment was back in December 2013, it is now October 2014... my teeth hurt this morning so i'm inspired to write a review finally. Overall my experience at NY Dental Group is okay, but this review is for the service desk. I caution patients to be familiar with their insurance plan. First, they told me my co-pay was $73 dollars. I am supposed to pay $10 for a filling, so I told them to make sure that was accurate. After they checked they told me that my insurance no long covers fillings and I would have to pay the full price of $374 (not sure if that's the exact number that they said). They wrote this new amount on a paper that I had already signed in which I agreed to pay $73 and proceeded to tell me I had to pay an amount toward the $374 before I left. I had to call my insurance provider and have them fax my insurance information to them. Then when I spoke to NY Dental Group on the phone they continued to tell me I had to pay $73 even though my insurance clearly told me on the phone that my co-pay is $10. I'm not sure if the employee was new. If so, they should work on some employee training before having someone deal with monetary payments. Telling a grad student AFTER they get fillings that their insurance doesn't cover them at all causes unnecessary stress. If I didn't contact my insurance to clear this up they would still be demanding I make these payments. read more
