I don't typically leave negative reviews, but my experience at this salon was completely unacceptable. I visited this family-run salon for the first time, as my regular salon was closed. I asked for a gel polish on both my hands and feet with a checkered design on two nails, providing a reference picture. The man prepped my nails, and the woman cleaned my feet. She suggested doing the design on four nails instead of two, and I agreed. However, the design didn't turn out as expected. The woman tried multiple times, but the results were messy and inconsistent. Despite my repeated requests to stop and just apply the plain color, she insisted on continuing. After several attempts, I politely asked to skip the design to save time, as it was already late. She ignored my request and proceeded with the design anyway, resulting in a sloppy outcome. When she filed the design off my nails, that's when she snapped. She raised her voice, speaking angrily in her first language, knowing I could understand that she wasn't saying nice things. My hands were covered with powder and filing dust. She then tried to fix a gap in my nail, but didn't do it properly. When I pointed it out, she raised her voice again, sarcastically saying, "You want it on your skin? Fine, I'll do it for you!" Her body language was aggressive. The whole service, besides the lady being rude, aggressive, and outright disrespectful, was rushed. She kept checking her phone, the clock, and her planner throughout the process. If time is such an issue, don't accept walk-ins. At this point, I was so upset that I cried and repeatedly asked to leave the chair. The husband tried to smooth things over, saying he wouldn't charge me for the service and just wanted to dry my nails so I could leave. However, the woman insisted on charging me $50 for the poorly done manicure and $29 for the pedicure, which was barely a foot cleaning. I paid the amount, took my change, and left. I left without getting my toes painted at all, but my finger nails appear sloppy, with uneven edges, sharp points, and nail polish smeared on the cuticles and along the edges. The salon itself was outdated, and the service was rushed and unprofessional. While the husband and daughters were polite, the owner's behavior was completely unacceptable. Whoever gets their nails done knows that there are good and bad technicians, and some can be sloppier than others. But when it's this bad, there's no excuse. I've never had such a terrible service in my life. It was just straight-up unprofessional. I am surprised she is still in business in Alamo with such a bad attitude, sloppy work, and poor customer service. They don't even deserve a single star. Please, trust your gut if you ever think about walking into this place. I didn't listen to mine, and I regret it. read more

I have been coming to Nene, Larry and Anna since we moved to Alamo over 2 years ago and I'll never go anywhere else. Nene does the best dip powder and they know how to cut my nails perfectly every time. No bad nail cutting from pedicures here. I have had that issue in the past at other places but they really know what they're doing and their massages are wonderful too. Their dip color selection is amazing and there are so many light and neutral options which is always my preference. Most places have one or two I like but they have so many it's hard to pick. You get less quality and get charged more $$ at other places. And I don't know what it is but the polish stays on for at least 5-6 weeks! I just had the weirdest experience at this salon. I chose my nail polish and went to the station. The manicurist said that the nail polish I chose was quick dry, so it was an additional two dollars ($21) but when I went to pay, she said my total was $22. I gave her $40 cash and asked for change. After my manicure I went to give her a tip and she said "you already gave me a tip. You said to give you only $10 cash back." I never said that. She had given herself an $8 tip (or $11 tip more than my original manicure price). Also, I had my nails under the dryer for a couple minutes and went to leave and she said that I had to wait 1 to 2 dryer cycles, which was equivalent to an additional 5 to 10 minutes...incredibly strange, since my nail polish was supposed to be "quick dry". I have lived in Alamo for 40 years and have literally been to every nail salon in Danville and Alamo, took me this long to find the absolute best place. Larry is my new "podiatrist ", he is very knowledgeable regarding toenail's. My daughter had injured the bed of her toenail and it was growing back weird, Larry was able to work with her nail and get it corrected over time and now she can wear sandals again. Their gel nails are done so well that my real nails underneath don't end up weak. Everyone that works there is excellent, that's why you might have to wait to get in. They have many regular customers. I see quite a few men getting pedicures too which is nice. Don't go anywhere else and pay ridiculous prices, they are reasonably priced and I can't say enough about what great work they do. read more

I was visiting my family in Alamo and I needed to get a new set of gel nails done. My dad was putting pressure on me to get done as quickly as possible and I was able to get my old gel nails taken off and a new gel color put on in 45 minutes. I was super impressed with the quality and speed when all was said and done. I'm definitely coming back here whenever I'm in Alamo visiting my parents. So happy I don't have to worry about doing my nails before I fly up from LA anymore. I'm stoked to have found a place that does as good a job as any awesome nail salon in LA. I've been coming here for about 6 months, every 2-3 weeks I get gel mani and regular pedi. They are cheap. Larry is a perfectionist, I've gone to many salons and no one has done as good of a job as the work I've had done here. I'm a dog groomer so I wash dogs all days although I do this my mani lasts for a strong 3 weeks my cuticles grow and become dry fast along with my skin on the tip of my finger but Larry takes the time to get all of it off and I mean all of it. I have just had the worst experience at his nail salon. The female technician was rude and didn't listen to my request of NO length taken off at all. It took 2 months for me to get enough length to finally enjoy a gel manicure and she aggressively filed my nails to the bone ! She was very hard to understand and when I asked her to not take that much off she continued! Do not go here if you want a nice friendly environment! If I could give New York Nail Salon one million stars, I would. The only thing you need to know is this is the best nail salon in the whole Bay Area, possibly even the world (but I'd prefer to speak from my personal experience). I have been going to New York Nails since my sophomore year of high school and now I am about to be a sophomore in college. I have gone to this nail salon for every homecoming, prom, graduation and birthday celebration and I will continue to go here for as long as I am able to. The owners Larry and Nene treat me like family. I have brought my sisters and my boyfriend here as well and they are treated just as well. I love the family who owns the business with all my heart. Every nail design and color I want, they can do. Every time restraint or busy scheduling conflict I have, they can fit me in. Every time I am having a bad day I look forward to my next appointment with Larry and Nene. They are truly the best. Their two daughter are so kind and helpful as well. You can tell that they are raising them to be strong independent successful women. Aside from the genuine hospitality of the salon, the nails that they do are always superb. I swear to you, my nails have NEVER broken off and they only way they come off is if Larry takes them off when putting on a new set of acrylics. I don't know exactly what it is but I'm pretty sure he just takes the time and energy to prep the nails the right way (unlike other nails sailors in the area, no shade no shade). He will get your nails done so fast as well. He is a true professional. On the other hand, Nene can give you ANY and I mean ANY design you want. I have had flames on my nails, modern french tips, flowers and everything in between. She is a goddess. Long story short, do not go anywhere else but the New York Nail Salon on Danville Boulevard. Love this place! This was my first time going. I love to feel pampered when I go to a salon because I hardly ever go. I really like a relaxing and beautiful atmosphere. I'm gonna be honest, I think this salon could use a little help with atmosphere as far as decor and upkeep go. So normally I'd give it 4 stars because of the atmosphere. BUT the service!! The service is 5 stars! The staff is amazing. They listen to you, make you laugh, and have genuine friendly conversations with you. I felt like I've known them for years and we were old friends. If I lived here I'd make them my favorite salon to frequent. Sadly I live in LA. But the price was affordable and I loved the service and really liked my gel mani.
