DO NOT PURCHASE FISH HERE! As an aquarium enthusiast, I went there to see if they had any different kinds of fish. Granted they have beautiful coral and saltwater plants, HOWEVER. I walked past tanks that had dead fish and dying fish and the live fish in the tanks were eating the dead fish. It was awful and I think that they should be called out for this. If they want to sell fish for the prices that they're charging, they better have clean tanks and at least have healthy fish. This place was disgusting.. read more

The google reviews for this Saltwater & Freshwater Fish Store were pretty good. So I decided to stop by as their website also showed that they had a sale. The store is clean and has a large selection of Saltwater and Corals. They sold star fishes, sea urchins, shrimps, and even sea horses. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. The store even has a restroom for their customers which was clean. I consider it a big plus. They had a good selection of fresh water fish too. They had there really small shrimps that I have never seen before in any other fish store. It was only a little bigger than a plankton. There was an additional 15 percent discount on Memorial Day (Monday). It has two parking spaces in front of the store. But there's metered street parking on both sides of the store. The store takes cash and credit. But you will definitely get a better deal if you pay in cash. read more

This store is awesome! the guys who work there are very friendly and truly hobbyist the coral selections are insane, they dip all their corals when they get new shipments, they QT all their fish and thread them with medication if necessary, all livestock is very healthy the prices are great. this became my favorite local fish store and I will be coming back in a weekly basis there is free parking if you coming to the store driving also accessible by the q65 q26 and q27 bus. Guys here offer to order specific fish for your needs if they do not have any in stock. We chose to set up our aquarium with New York Reef Aquatic and we have been absolutely blown away by the level of service, professionalism, knowledge, value, and courtesy by the professionals there. From our first visit about six months ago until now, we have received above-and-beyond service and can't imagine having gone anywhere else. We were impressed by the store from our first visit. It is very clean, a good selection of livestock, healthy and happy livestock and customers who are passionate about the hobby. My husband had done alot of research on aquariums and was impressed with how knowledgeable Alan, Danny and Calvin were. We had visited the other aquariums in the area and were most impressed with New York Reef Aquatic. Over the next couple of weeks, we exchanged emails and texts with Alan and compared prices of their equipment. Alan worked with wholesalers to get us the best price we found on the market (after much comparison shopping). Alan and Danny set up our tank. The setup process was quick and easy, as Alan and Danny built the tank, sump, and cabinet; they also helped up choose our rocks and even worked with us on the rockscaping. Since then, Alan and Danny have come to our home multiple times to help us monitor the chemical balance of the tank and to finish the setup process. They have always come after hours because my husband and I both work long hours, and we were impressed with how hard working, passionate, and knowledgeable they were. Alan was very responsive throughout the process. Alan is also incredibly hard working and responded to texts at very late hours. He is very professional, knowledgeable and takes a conservative approach to aquarium keeping. He was basically our consultant through the entire set up process and has continued on in this role in the following weeks as our tank matured and we started introducing fish. We have asked his advice on all the products we bought for the tank; on fish food; on fish species to introduce; on acclimation; on making salt water; and basically every small detail. He has without fail been responsive and given us good advice. We are very glad to have chosen New York Reef Aquatic to set up our aquarium and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking to set up an aquarium, build an aquarium, or just interested in learning more about the hobby. This store is easily the best LFS (local fish store) in Queens. Prices are very good, the owners are really friendly and knowledgeable and the place is very clean as fish stores go.Take a look at the others in Flushing and Bayside (you know which ones I am talking about) and you cannot compare. The corals are gorgeous and they have a very large supply, easily the best supply of high quality corals in the New York City area. I discovered this place by complete accident since I take a class about a mile away and was driving down the main street. If you don't look out closely you'll easily miss the entrance because it's at the start of the residential area with some living space on top of it. But make no mistake - there are PLENTY of corals and fish here and a ton of saltwater fish, invertebrates and corals too, which aren't so simple to find. And since Alan and Calvin are really super nice, I have never had a single problem with anything and they have made good on any issue I had (just once.) There is good reason why this place has mostly five star reivews. read more

This store is pretty small, but don't let that fool you. It is pretty spacious: nothing is cluttered and compacted and there is a lot of room so that you don't feel crammed. The store is very, very clean. There aren't too many fish, but the ones that they have are pretty exotic and are at a very good price. Bought a naoko's wrasse here for $65, which is a lot cheaper than $100 that I would've paid online. The showcase in the store is the two giant coral tanks in the center of the store that are very well lit and are setup to showcase frags, and there are a lot of them. There is a wide variety of corals and all of them look very healthy. The pricing of the corals is really nice too and are a lot cheaper than most stores in the area and better quality as well. I've been here twice and after the first time, the man who I talked to that first time, Alan, remembered who I was. There are only two people working there almost all of the time, but for the size of the store it is perfect and all the staff are very friendly. When I step near the cash register, I am always asked if I need help and only need to ask if I do. Alan is the only person that works there that I have talked to, but he is very knowledgeable and clearly knows what he is talking about when it comes to the aquarium hobby. Great place and I will definitely continue to come back. P.S. Don't be afraid to ask the staff to turn down the flow in the coral display tanks. They also have coral viewers that are perfect for getting a better view of the corals. read more
