From that atypical perspective, I can honestly say, without hesitation, that I trust Dr. Behnke above any other dentist of whom I have ever been a patient. So that's saying something! She has always been forthright with what needs to be done, explains procedures along the way, and has gone out of her way to put me at ease. I think her authentic manner is key. Those working with her have reflected the same tone. I have recommended her consistently to those I know who are searching for a dentist. Given adamant instructions about my cleaning journey, I paid $190 fee to be told I wasn't to be seen. I expressed my annoyance for differing from his prior instructions, I asked for the refund and a rescheduled appointment. He abruptly interrupted me and told me to continue my exams ONLY with my original dentist. He ran out scurrying into a locked side room. I was dumbfounded by this egotistical and cowardly behaviour. His ego was so shattered and his assistant was standing there in shock; she was getting my x-rays transferred from dentist office. I paid the deductible. During this time, East Lansing Modern Dental took over the business. On 4/1/2022, I was contacted by East Lansing Modern Dental claiming that I had an unpaid bill for the above procedure, despite MetLife and myself having already paid the claim to Midwestern Dental. I sent them the Explanation of Benefits forms that I received from MetLife Insurance and told them that this procedure had already been paid for. On 7/12/2022 I was contacted by a debt collection company on their behalf. Currently reviewing legal options and awaiting further information after submitting complaints to the MI Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and the MI Consumer Protection office.

After I received my procedure, they told me I had to pay out of pocket because my insurance did not cover it. I explained the situation to them multiple times that I would not have gotten the procedure if my insurance did not cover it. We spoke on the phone several times, saying they were going to resolve it and they would contact me. They seem to always forget that conversation and send me a bill every 3-4 months. This is wrong. Now they're telling me I have no other recourse but to pay up, or it will go to collections. Incredibly unethical.
