The day we wanted to flight was uncertain because of the weather, so we decided to schedule another day. We thought our flight would be on Sunday, but it was on Saturday. When we called on Saturday to check everything, it was said we already missed the flight. We understood we did the mistake and we asked to reschedule for another date. We knew that we would have to pay a fee for that, what we would never imagine is that they would charge us a fee that costed MORE THAN THE PRICE OF THE SERVICE WE BOUGHT. In other words, this fee is just a way to keep your money without provide a service, as nobody will pay a fee that is more expensive than to purchase another flight. So basically they took the money without provide the service or give us a real chance to reschedule the service. If I could leave a negative 0, I would. I agree with the other reviews posted here. They are a cold unreasonable business. For a few pounds over there per person weight limitation they would not board us. They wanted to charge us for another seat at 155.00 dollars. Such weasels. There was a child and mother there. The overall weight limit in the helicopter when distributed was way below the limit. They don't even weigh the bags, so the weight limit restriction i feel is a way to keep our money without providing a service. It's so wrong that they get away with that. The manager was unreasonable and all about the money not the service. We lost over 200.00 that we paid Groupon because they denied us boarding the helicopter without purchasing an extra seat, and would not notify that confirmation to Groupon. No complaints with Groupon. If Groupon would've received confirmation they would've returned our money or compensated us somehow. It looks like they have a habit of bad business practice according to the reviews. My final review is stay far away from them. read more

Avoid this place at all costs: their business model is predicated on amassing late fees and other hidden charges (weight-related fees among them, forget about being heavier, if you are tall you may very well have to buy 2 seats). I had a tour scheduled for Jan 1; due to inclement weather we got a last-minute call asking my party to come in THAT day. The trains we needed were running morbidly late (due to it being New Year's day). Rather than try and re-book us, making an exception esp. due to a last-minute re-schedule and uncooperative trains, the staff informed us they would charge us late fees ($300 in total). I begged them and eventually had to grab an $85 dollar Uber to make it all the way to Kearny, NJ. BEWARE: This is a SCAM. They tried to charge us an extra $100 when we arrived for our reservation. The address is a random parking lot where a shuttle is supposed to pick you up. We arrived on time, and there was no shuttle. We tried to call the company multiple times, but the line was busy. Finally, we got someone on the phone, and they said the shuttle was on the way. The shuttle took us to a secondary location, where we waited for another half an hour for our flight. At this time, we were told we would have to pay another $100 for a "late arrival." 1) Extreme negligence of security protocols that must be associated with a helicopter ride. I have been in a helicopter ride before and had a 180 degree opposite experience . There was no briefing provided on security measures. As soon as the aircraft landed, and without any notice or instructions, as the helicopter blades were running on full sound, the owner rushed to us and started to pull us down us and yelled at us saying, this is an expensive headset( as if we had not paid for our ride). He had the audacity to push and hit me on the knee as well, showing no respect for the fact that I had paid for the ride. 2) Continuing with the already worst customer service as abusing, pushing and disrespecting customers who are paying you is utterly shameful, unthankful and disgusting - Later on the owner started to snatch the old and dysfunctional safety belts from us and started to push us(we had no plans to take that stuff home, trust us!). The pilot was pointing fingers asking us to get out of the place as soon as possible . I have never seen such a frustrated and low class business owner and staff. When we highlighted that we can take the belt out ourselves and he should provide a clear communication and give us a moment, he started abusing us and using the f* word which seems to show the mentality and class associated with this business employees and owner himself. 3) Extremely poor condition of office and helicopter equipment. The office is run by a bunch of rude and unprofessional people. The men's toilet was very unhygienic(and stinky) and located almost inside the office 4) The helicopter didn't even go near any landmark(statue of liberty was very very far from sight), and was hovering almost entirely over the shipyard/junkyard. Communication skill of the pilot was not impressive(he spoke almost nothing) and there was a constant disturbance on the line where multiple cross chat from other helicopters was audible I do want to highlight that as we started to leave the desolate place where this dangerous business was located, I felt so threatened for me and family that I had to call 911, following which a report case got created. Despite being the worst helicopter business in New York, due to the high influx of tourists in New York who want to experience a helicopter ride this place may still be getting some business but I would highly recommend for you and your family's safety to stay far away from this place. Thus tour company is terrible. Bet unorganized. Upon arrival they charged an additional $35. Per person for helipad fees. Which we were informed of the day before in an email. We waited 2 1/2 hours for our turn in a hot hanger. After boarding the helicopter the A/C didn't work and it was hot AF . Getting to Sit at the front myself on Christmas day flying around New York was incredible, the sky's were clear and the pilot was amazing, he had great information and good banter. Avoid this company at all costs I am writing a review just to make you understand what you are actually paying money for when booking with this company. Extremely rude staff, no smiles, "Hi" or "Bye", they shout at each other in front of you and shout at you as well if you arrive late. They tell you to come 45 minutes earlier and charge $50 dollar extra if you arrive 15 minutes late and a $100 if you arrive half an hour late. Just to make you understand you will have to spend at least 1 full hour to come their from NYC (you have to get a train and then pay another $20 to take an Uber from the station cause it's the only way to reach them). So you loose half day for 20 minutes helicopter ride and pay extra $50/$150 to ride with them. SO they are NOT as cheap as you may think at first. YOU CANT cancel if you have last minute issue cause they don't issue ANY refunds. And they will not re-schedule if you cancel less than 48h in advance, so you ll just loose your money. Stuff was utter unprofessional, solving their personal issues in front of me and treating people extremely rude and ignorant. I had a nosebleed that day on the way to the helicopter ride and because if that arrived late. Despite my health condition they refused to make any exceptions and charged me $100 late fee and the blond American lady (looked like an only manager who was there) was screaming at me and behaving very very rude. Having worked in this industry myself, to see something like this was just shocking. All this creates such a dredful impression of the company image that I am genuinely surprised how they still operate with such low level of customer service. If you are a boss of this company and reading this review, please take a closer look at the people you put to run/manage the company. After reading negative reviews about NY Helicopter Tours, I was expecting the worst. However, the staff wasn't rude and the wait was about 10 minutes. Maximum capacity on the helicopter is four people, while Liberty's is seven. We were all able to get good views. The tour lasted 10 minutes and costs $130 per person. I'm not sure if it was worth it but we did it for the sake of trying something new. Fun... but will I do it again? Probably not. Maybe in a different city. read more

If I was basing my review strictly on the experience, then I would definitely be giving it 5-stars!! However, I paid $155 for 15 minute tour ($10/minute), which turned out to be only 11 minutes. According to the pilot, we "had good tail winds". When I am flying NYC to LAX, a good tailwind is appreciated to shorten the flight. When I am paying a premium for a 15 minute helicopter tour, not so much. There were four of us on the tour, and when we asked for a discount (or redo) - they offered to give us a (1) free photo - a bit lame in my opinion. There are several operators in the same terminal - if I go again, I may go to one of the other counters (NY Helicopter is the first counter you see as you enter the terminal). There isn't really any difference between the different helicopter providers in NYC - not in price or anything else really - we 3 were heading towards the heliport & one of their agents approached us - we were going to take a flight anyway but this guy was polite & brought us in. We were on board & flying within an hour with another couple, so limited waiting around. Absolutely not impressed! We were rushed around the entire time - in and out within 25 minutes - the staff was rude and condescending from start to finish. We weren't allowed to take our own pictures, so they took "professional" photos of us in front of the helicopter to purchase after. Both of our eyes were closed in the one picture they took so we left with zero pictures of the two of us in front of the helicopter. They booked our helicopter completely full - even though our ride time wasn't for another 20 minutes - so I had to sit up front with the pilot alone while my husband was in the back with the other couples. Amazing amazing experience!!! Purchased 2 living social vouchers for my boyfriends birthday - arrived at 1015 AM for an 11AM take off for the Liberty tour. Arrive earlier than your take off time (nice waiting area with restrooms was a plus). We had an amazing time, the staff were efficient and very nice and helpful - our helicopter had 6 passengers. 1 in the front, 2 (us) in the second row and 3 in the third row. If you want window seats I suggest going as a group of 1 or 2, groups of 3 will sit in the third row and one of those seats is in the middle. Inside the helicopter you get a nice history lesson of all the sites, and since our ride turned into a 30 minute ride we also saw Central Park, Hoboken/jersey city/palisades, Yankees stadium, Long Island/queens, basically all of Manhattan but particularly downtown skyline and Statue of Liberty/Ellis island/governors island. Great views of Governors Island, Brooklyn Bridge, the Freedom Tower and much more. Be sure to make a reservation; you don't have to but you'll have less time waiting. For the amount that they charge for a ride (it was $200+ for the central park tour) - you'd think they'd be more accommodating in situations if a person can't take a ride due to medical reasons. I called them up to ask if they'd kindly extend my year expiration for just a couple more months until I was fit to ride, even telling them they would gain a second admission fee because I was planning on bringing someone when I was ready. For the amount that they charge and the fact that my doctor said I'm not fit to ride, I found it preposterous that they would deny me an extension, causing me to lose that money. We were running late and afraid that we were not going to be able to enjoy the trip they were able to get us on the last flight and we got a private ride. They one reason I am not giving 5 stars is because the pilot never spoke to us. It really left us guessing what was what. Since we are not from here I would have expected the pilot to point out large land marks or even introduce himself. He literally did not say a word to us which was odd. When you pay for a helicopter tour I would assume there would be some sort of communication between pilot and passengers. Other than that we had a fantastic time and would do it again. We even ran into problems with a Groupon voucher but they were able to resolve that and still keep us as a customer. Floyd was our pilot. It was certainly a good price for a helicopter tour. You know where you are going because you can see one of three tours they will take you on (15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes). Obviously the longer the tour the more it will cost. I opted for the 15 minute tour which was just fine. Floyd pointed out all the spots. And if you are sitting on one side not to worry you will get the opposite view on the way back. You got to wear the headphones too while in the helicopter. And you are required to watch a short safety demo video before going on the tour (it is painless; trust me). For those who are on a budget but looking for excitment and don't want to spend a lot I highly recommend the 15 minute tour. It was AWESOME! read more

I booked a NY liberty tour with this agency as a gift for my boyfriend. It was the least expensive I found. The tour itself was what we expected, it was great. But at the end of the tour they don't even let you 2 sec to take a picture with the helicopter. That's not so bad, but still, it is not like you take an helicopter everyday! Even worse, they ask you to leave your bags in the office just before getting in the helicopter. We did not bother (and we did not really have time) to take our wallet with us. Big mistake! We realize 1hour later, as we were having lunch, that 60$ were missing! My boyfriend didn't want me to go back there and make a scene, so that's why I am writing this review. Dreadful customer service and false promises. I booked a tour for our Wedding Day on January 3rd, but unfortunately it was too wet and cloudy for the tour to take place. New York Helicopter company contacted me to cancel the flight and promised to refund the fee. It is now the 8th February and they have not refunded the money, despite several email promises from Ashley and Estephany to resolve the issue. they claimed that they could not process it due to not having my card details, but even though they now have them they have still not refunded me. This is extremely poor service and New York Helicopter seem to be determined to hang onto my money, after they cancelled the tour! i would avoid this company. read more

There are several helicopter companies that offer the same 15-min tour from the same downtown Heliport. I would strongly recommend using one of the other (larger) companies. I booked a 9 AM tour and arrived 30 minutes early as requested on the website. When I arrived, they told us to wait at the entrance until 9. At 9, they let me enter the outdoor seating area and sit on a chair. As I was sitting, people with other helicopter companies came for their tours. One company had a van with the heat on. Another company had a tent with a heater. NY Helicopter Charter just had outdoor chairs for their customers to sit in the freezing cold. At 9:35, I was told to go and come back at 10:00 because the other customers who had booked a 9 AM flight had not showed up. I highly doubt these other customers existed. At any rate, the other companies ran several tours during the time that I was sitting. The tour itself was interesting. It's a do-it-once kind of experience. Not exactly thrilling, but just a different experience if you're in the area. Please use another company. For EXACTLY THE SAME PRICE, you will receive faster service and more reasonable waiting facilities. read more
