Friday evening 5:30pm surprised no wait for table for 2. Started with a glass of Hard Apple Pie cider $8, nice flavor. Unusual for me to order a sandwich, bourbon Chicken $15, upgraded to side Caesar salad $2. Very good, chunks of chicken breads, apples, bacon, spinach, melted smoked cheddar, bourbon BBQ sauce in nanny bread. The side Caesar was disappointment, no romaine lettuce but them mixed greens. Husband tried the smoked tacos, $15 with side of tortilla chips. The flaky paratha shell was unusual and really good, kind off a deep fried soft flaky bread. 2 large shells filled with tasty smoked shredded pork. Pineapple salsa, jalapeños crisps, mexican cheese. Facts: The food was overall good, but the fact that my wife's chicken Carolina was borderline cold was not favorable. The chips as a side seem to be unfulfilling and overpriced for getting a wrap, chips and an 1/8th of a pickle. The fact that this is a brewery and they did not serve fries or burgers kind disappointed me. The preparation of the food was good but slows service down making getting food out to your customers really slow. I did not try the drink but they looked delicious. Opinion: I believe the food was overpriced for what I got. I also believe I gave the waitress a 16 dollar tip and she gave my wife a dirty look when I thought that was a great tip for mediocre service. Charging 15 dollars for cold food and a handful of chips should be illegal. Overall I liked the inside except for the sticky tables your servers don't know how to clean either I will not be coming back with me or my family and if somebody ask me about this place I will not be recommending this place to anyone. A group of 11 of us stopped in to Newaygo Brewing Co after kayaking the Muskegon River. We were seated right away and our first server was great - super friendly, helpful, and on top of things getting all of our orders. She handed us off to another server before our food came out and things kind of went downhill after that in terms of service. (Had to ask for refills, waited a long time for our bills, and one item didn't come out until way after everyone else's meals.) They were out of the brat kebab that I wanted so I went with the smoked pork nachos. Nate got the naan grilled cheese and an IPA that he really liked. I had several bites of the naan grilled cheese as I waited for my nachos. The cheese was shredded and not super melty but the flavors were very good. I think they're known for their pizza, which looked delicious but I just wasn't feeling that hungry. Finally my nachos came out and they were just ok. The whole plate was really wet, I think from the salsa, so some of the chips were pretty soggy and it was very salty. I did like the pineapple in the salsa. I wouldn't order these again. Overall it was a fine place for our needs but it's not top on my list for the area. read more

Love their food. My husband always gets a pizza and I'll either get the bruschetta, chicken lettuce wraps or their buffalo chicken sandwich. We've tried numerous things such as the nachos and the breadsticks and it's all been amazing. I've even had the crab Rangoon pizza. Didn't think I'd like it but actually loved it. No changing table in either bathroom, even though it is listed as good for kids. They have high chairs and a kids menu. Service was subpar - pretty rude and unhelpful. Updating my review a year later. Thought maybe we'd hit them on a bad night. We ordered an appetizer, we were not given plates or napkins for the appetizer, and no one came to check while we ate so we could ask for them. It was another 40 minutes before we got our food. Had to ask for napkins and silverware after our food was delivered. One of our entires came out 5 minutes after the rest of the food was delivered with explanation. I came in for a beer around 7:30 pm on a Thursday night. The brewery had live music, about 20 people were seated at tables. I went to the bar and was immediately greeted by a friendly young woman. I asked her about several beers listed on the menu, she said they are low on many beers and have run out of some. I tried three styles that they did have; an expresso stout, a red and double ipa. All the beers were fine, I tried the stout first. It had such a strong coffee taste that I couldn't taste much of the flavor on next beer, the Irish Red. I did like the Double IPA - Truth Juice, so I ordered it and found a place to watch the band. It was mellow vibe, the band was playing an older mix of early rock from the 60's-70's. I enjoyed the music and my beer, but the place closed shortly after 8:00 pm...which seemed kinda early to me. I would like to come back when the beer list is full and try some food. I would recommend the Newaygo Brewing Company to friends, but temper expectations. read more

Got a flight of four beers- Himalayan gose, riverhouse saison, coconut brown and 1916. Likes low of them. The place was crowded on a Sunday night but we were seated right away. Yushan was our server and was very nice. My husband and I both ordered the make your own pizza. I got mushroom, spinach and black olives. My husband ordered pepperoni , onion and mushroom. I'm torn because I really did like/want to like this place. We loved both the ciders we tried, so good! Our server was friendly but really pushed us to order, every time we asked for a minute to look at the menu she'd come back within 30 seconds. Her service was quick too, so silver lining I guess. The kitchen was really fast, our food came out in no time. The food was phenomenal with one exception - I ordered the Garlic Garden pizza at the recommendation of our server and it was not good. I'd go so far as to call it gross. I didn't say anything but I wish I'd sent it back. Visitors from out of state, visiting Newaygo area for my bachelorette weekend with my bride babes. Forgot my (the bride) physical ID, all my other 3 girls had their ids and I had a picture of my passport and my physical credit card. They denied me a bottle of wine. Honestly I would have understood if they just came over said those are the rules offered a complimentary smile or treat, but she didn't take the time to win back our business. Food included cheesy breadsticks, 3 slider combo, BBQ chicken pizza, chicken/avocado/spinach pita, pork/carmelized onion/tomato pita and kids pizza. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and meals. Although a Monday, we arrived at the tail end of a busy lunch hour due to July 4tg holiday. Several large groups were finishing and it didn't seem like they had quite enough wait staff. My family and I stopped in over the weekend to get an appetizer and some drinks. There were open tables both indoors and out. We asked for a table of 4 as we had 4 adults and an infant. We were told we could not sit outside as we had a stroller. We said we could fold the stroller down but this was still unacceptable. We were then told we could not sit indoors either and would have to wait. When we asked why we couldn't sit at any of the open tables, Becky, said because we didn't have enough people. The tables available were a six top and what she said was an 8 top (it was two tables pushed together.) I said I don't understand why we couldn't be seated as there were open tables and she could have pulled the two tables apart. There was no one waiting in line to be seated. She got upset with me and told me that my infant was not a person, when I said technically we have five people. In the summer, we have eaten at this establishment every single week for the last couple of summers. To be refused seating when there were multiple table available is unacceptable. As short staffing was not the issue communicated. When my husband called later on to speak with the manager about this issue, we found out Becky was the manager. She did not try to apologize for her actions but instead got upset and defensive with my husband for "wasting her time to discuss our frustrations." Unfortunately, we will find other restaurants to support when we decide to eat out during our time in Newaygo. read more

Newaygo Brewing kind of caught me by surprise. It's one of the better breweries I've been to, at least in terms of variety. The beers are good if you like strong flavors. The Coconut Brown tastes like coconut. The fruity beers taste fruity. I mean, you usually see fruits listed in a beer's description, but these are heavy on those flavors. For some, that's a good thing, and for me, it was a good thing. The other part is that their food is kind of different than most breweries. I usually don't like places with a ton of variety, but their options are different and weird and worth trying. For example, they have sandwiches on Naan bread and tacos in puffy shells. They also have cauliflower crust and sweet potato pizzas. Oh yeah, everything also tasted pretty good. Newaygo is a small town and maybe that's why the brewery feels like it can do whatever it wants. I think that's a good thing and worth a stop if you're around. Some have complained about service and that's not too surprising. It's a basic hipster joint where everyone wears beanies when it's warm out. So I guess if that bothers you... maybe this isn't your place? read more

Most places in the county are closed on Sunday when we are all craving a good pizza. Fortunately, Newaygo Brewery isn't one of those closed. It was an easy online order and payment. I was given an accurate time for pickup and good instructions to do so on the app. There were a lot of choices under specialty pizzas that would be interesting to try, including a Crab Rangoon Pizza that sounds good. We ordered the one that was heavy in the meat and weren't disappointed. The round sausages were different than what is normally presented on pizza, but gave it a distinct flavor compared to the generic sausage clumps. The crust was of the flakey and light density with a little burning around the edge (a good thing). The pies only come in 10 or 12 inches, but enough for two and a slice to eat at midnight. I am looking forward to trying other pizzas on the menu. read more
