The campground is divided into three loops, each with its own character. The North Loop offers water and electric hookups, with sites that are more widely spaced than the others--something I really appreciate. That extra room makes it feel quieter and more private, and it's probably where we'll book our next stay. The Middle Loop has full hookups, while the South Loop is the busiest, featuring full hookups as well as some cabins. . There are many hiking/cycling trails (dog-friendly), and the Deschutes River runs through the campground. There is a short hike to a waterfall, and a large dog park. Unfortunately, we were a bit restricted in our outdoor activities because of the smoke from the two fires in the area. There was actually ash falling on one of the days. Also, there had been several sightings of a mountain lion in the area, so that added a bit of caution to our activities. Nevertheless, we will definitely come back.

Some sites are fairly tight, while others had some nice room. The trails here were very enjoyable. Serene surroundings around the river and through the trees. We saw lots of deer, birds, and other critters scrambling about. I'm sure it would've had a slightly different feel during peak season, but we very much enjoyed our night and day of off season.

I have done my research on this park and surrounding area and found it to be a real nice peaceful and serene area to stay, we travel every summer and research every place before making reservations or traveling, it makes for a more pleasant experience, I usually rate the places before & after we get there based on how we where treated on the phone and in person and based on appearance and upkeep compared to online photos. From the research that I have done so far I Know these owners have done a lot of work to make this park nice and I can tell anyone that is reading these reviews now that this lady I & my husband have talked to several times over the phone has never been rude or condescending in any way at any time and in fact has been nothing but polite and very willing to help in every way possible, she has been very pleasant to deal with. So I am guessing that if she was a lil rude & condescending to Grant H. maybe he was having a bad day & was being a bit rude himself? We are all just human, prone to have flaws & make mistakes not be perfect, business owners or not, a business owner should not have to put up with rude & unruly customers just because your the customer doesn't make you right or privileged & just because you have money doesn't give you the right to be rude & obnoxious. My only complaint is the bathrooms are in the middle of all the rows of RVs, and they have a small sign that asks you not to walk through occupied sites. Which means what would be a short 2-5 minute walk turns into a 10+ minute walk. Which isn't a huge deal until the handicapped spots are occupied and someone like my grandpa, who is disabled with a walker, has to take a much longer route. I understand people have their sites, but it would be beneficial to have a pathway through the middle for easier access to the bathrooms. The bathrooms are clean and AIR CONDITIONED! I don't have AC in my camper and I went to Oregon in the week it was almost 100º and it was rough... going to the bathroom and showering was pure delight. As the park is named, there are in fact big pines. Not all spots are shaded, but there's enough shade around. The park was recently expanded so there are plenty more slots and a higher likelihood you can get a reservation. Crater is about a 45 min drive, but my favorite day-trip from staying here was going to Crystal Lake. It's a beautiful blue lake that has a beach, and seems like a hidden gem not many people know about.

Excellent campground! So far, this is my favorite Thousand Trails campground. I had decided to…read morecancel my membership because the other Oregon and Washington parks are in such bad shape . This amazing camp is making me re-think. We came during COVID, so the pool, clubhouse , and other amenities were closed . They look nice! Of course, everything looks clean when nobody is using it. Like other Thousand trails parks, all sites are first-come-first-served. Extremely annoying, but the sites here are relatively flat and large. We had plenty of space for our RV, a tent , and 2 cars. ALL sites have electric and water (their website says otherwise), so it is not as hard to find a site as it is at other locations. None of the sites have sewer. We knew this going in, but it did limit how long we could stay . This is the first Thousand trails we have been to that had phone service and wifi available throughout the park. The Little Deschutes River goes right through the park , and this is a great spot for swimming and floating. It is small, but very fun. The park map shows two bridges that are good float start and end points, but we could never find them. During non-COVID times , they have a shuttle for a longer float, but it was not available. I definitely recommend having a car available. We rented one from Hertz for $20/day and it made our trip . Bend is nearby with lots to do . There is no Uber or Lyft in the immediate area. My complaint about this park is that they do not allow charcoal BBQ. We understand the fire ban , but not being able to use our BBQ was a pain. We had to run to Bimart and grab an $80 BBQ that we will probably never use again.
