I had to name the dude, he stares at me the entire time I'm in the room, especially with him over the bed. Heated bathroom floor tiles? Check. Amazing craftsmanship? Check. The kitchen here makes you want to drool. The upstairs has two cute beds built into the wall with cabinets separating them and curtains to pull over. I would have loved those as a kid! The living area is great and the couch/chairs are very comfortable for lounging. The mud room is perfect as we definitely came with weathered bottom halves from the days activities. The garage has a dog door going out back into a fenced off kennel run with a ramp and house. A German Shepherd could fit through just fine. The garage is also loaded with bikes, sports balls, games, skis and an extra fridge. There are TVs in every room, which is great if multiple families are staying here, to keep kids entertained if needed, outside of everything else there is to do. To be honest, we all only watched the Super Bowl 49 and then never turned the TVs on again. Oh and the tub upstairs is huge and magical. The only cons I could mention is the retreat being oddly situated off the road, so some road noise is heard from inside, which is funny to hear when looking out onto nature. Lastly, if the hot water is glacial, check the circuit breakers. They tripped on us and we didn't know the cause. Only took a few hours for the tanks to be warmed up. All-in-all ... This place is gorgeous and I would love to stay here again. The cabin is by a large air field so it is secluded a bit from everything but the road noise. (Though I just wondered how often it's used, it's winter so we've only heard one plan so far). The Village is about 5 minutes away and downtown Bend is 30 minutes. Bachelor Ski Area is also 30 minutes from here and a pretty direct route. Thanks for having us!!!

    Central Oregon Rentals - Sleds

    Central Oregon Rentals

Central Oregon Rentals is A+++. We rented five sleds for the Saturday between Christmas and New…read moreYears. The sleds were loaded into a five-place enclosed trailer and ready to go when we arrived at the shop. Michael the owner gave us a thorough run down of the trail systems (I've ridden in Minnesota a lot, but first time in Oregon), a walk through of the sleds, and other general tips. They also had a complete lineup of decent rental equipment, although renting isn't ever has good as having your own gear that you're used to. All of the sleds were quality Ski-Doo long tracks. We had two 850's that rocked the trails and the powder, two 600's for the less experienced riders, and one 900 two-up. Unloading and loading was easy, and it was a short 25 minute drive to the snow park. Great rental experience - would definitely rent again from Central Oregon Rentals. Thoughts about the Deschutes trail system around Mt. Bachelor: 1. We rode on what had to have been one of the busiest days of the year - bad planning on our part. By the time we got to the Wanoga sno-park the parking lot was full, but it really wasn't full: they could have fit at least 1/3 more rigs if folks would learn how to park. There was literally 10' between some rigs. We ended up parking along one of the roadways inside the snow park which worked. If you could beat the mountain traffic and make it higher up it would be better. See #2 below. 2. The trails leading up to the Mt. Bachelor - especially Trail 5 - were AWFUL. So many riders chewing it up, even though they were groomed the night before. They were even worse coming back down. If you like going 10 mph max on washboards you'll love them. Once we got past the mountain, Trail 5 was better, but not great. 3. The 250 miles of the Mt. Bachelor trail system is beautiful, but TBH after riding Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the UP, the trail system around Mt. Bachelor isn't the place to go for hard core riding. We rode all day and maybe got 40 miles - in the upper Midwest we'd get at least 100 miles on a low day. This is partly due to the number of people and the trail conditions, but there just aren't the same miles of trails if you really like to ride. 4. The stop at the Elk Lake resort was great. Definitely worth they trip out there. Would we ride the Deschutes Trail System again? -Yes, and we would definitely rent from Central Oregon Rentals. -Yes, but on a weekday or during the shoulder season. Definitely NOT on a holiday weekend. -Yes, but explore starting at a different location.

Unfortunately a month after I signed the contract (March 2025) the local owners sold to another franchise owner located in Southern California. With GW running my condos my rentals were about 60% in my two units of what they were when I managed the property myself, and revenue was ~50% - and 22% of that had to go to GW. Communication was poor, extremely high turnover with any staff they did hire locally and cleaning was mediocre for paying ~$40 an hour and reviews reflected that. Upon signing the agreement in March 2025 which specified I was to provide all furnishings and linens I was switched to their 'linen' program without telling me. The next 11 months 60+ towels, 50+ wash rags, 7 full sets of sheets and much more were missing from when I took back over the units. GWs response was... 'not us', even though their staff and cleaners were the only people with access to storage. Avoid GW to manage your property at all costs, find someone local! And beware if you are renting from GW, reviews on them as a host aren't great either - at least in Bend.

Advanced Performance Rentals - The trail en route to Elk Lake Lodge (riding the Polaris double)

We were in Bend visiting family over the Christmas break and someone had the great idea to try…read morerenting snowmobiles. After a Google search, I found a place located right at Wanoga Sno Park. Because they were the only ones that came up on multiple Google searches and the ease of pickup and drop off right at the park, they were completely sold out. They referred me to Kevin at Advanced Performance. After a couple of calls to ask questions (I'd never snowmobiled before) we settled on 4 sleds (two singles and two doubles). It was about a 30 minute drive from Bend down in Sunriver, but easy to find the "shop" (which is really just an upstairs office above a home). Kevin was extremely helpful and enthusiastic about getting us on the trail for some fun, giving us a quick orientation to the trail system, making recommendations about places to go (and not go) and giving us basic tips on operating the snowmobiles. According to one family member familiar with snowmobiles, the sleds were nothing special (a pair of Polaris 550's and a pair of Polaris Touring FST 600's) but good enough for our family (my wife and I, our two teenagers, and the kids grandparents) After the 20-30 minute haul to the Edison Sno Park (about 10 miles away but the road was a solid sheet of ice after all the recent snow, so we could only safely go about 30 mph) we had the sleds unloaded and hit the trail. We made a beeline for Elk Lake Lodge for lunch (crowded but GREAT) and then came back by an alternate route. Beautiful scenery and reasonably well groomed trails. There was a lot of traffic on some sections because of the holiday season, so on our way home there was a lot of "washboard" (whatever you call them in snowmobile terms) that was annoying to ride on, but we still had a blast. Bottom line, if you have your own truck and can haul a trailer with the snowmobiles, this is a great option. The experience feels more like borrowing sleds for the day from a friend (including the idiosyncrasies of missing review mirrors or minor stuff like broken speedometers), and Kevin come across as a helpful local more than a businessman (I mean that in a good way). He has a decent selection of helmets (both full face and motocross type) and can supply bibs/pants (remember to buy or bring your own balaclava and gloves if you have them!). When I needed pants, Kevin literally gave me the pants he was wearing.

We had seen Advanced Performance Rentals business on our way back to the village in Sunriver from Mount Bachelor Ski park a few times that week and decided to stop in to inquire about renting some snowmobiles. We were in luck, there were snowmobiles available for the next day and we were able to negotiate a great price them. Being novices, the owner Kevin made sure that we were given the appropriate snowmobiles for us. The next morning we arrived at 7am. We were very pleased to see our machines that we had reserved were loaded on the trailers, fueled up and ready to go. We were quickly fitted with the appropriate helmets, given easy to follow (did i mention, easy to follow) trail maps and were also given a crash course on the rules and safety regulations of snowmobiling. Kevin suggested on which sno-park to go to... taking in consideration that we were novices. ( I find that all of the locals know the good places to have fun) We hooked his trailer full of equipment to our Jeep and off we went for our adventure of the day. It all ran like clock work... he had us heading out to the park within 30minutes of arriving at his shop. Not that I was worried about the time... The rental time was for all day... so we really didn't feel rushed or feeling like the clock was ticking. We were on vacation and that is the last thing you want to worry about. We were just excited to get the our adventure on! Anyway.... i just wanted to say that our experience that day was awesome... the snow, the sun..... the new adventure.... We all agreed that we would do it again AND we will be sure to rent from Advanced Performance Rentals again. Thank you so much! We shall return!
