    Razor thin celery slices
    Jeff M.

I appreciate good cutlery and have invested a considerable amount of money in curating some outstanding knives for our culinary ventures. Relocating back to Southern California we found ourselves in need of finding a professional with skills to sharpen our knives. After extensive vetting we decided to give Newburn Bladez the job of sharpening 7 of our knives. I was impressed with Thomas Newburn (owner) not only of his passion and experience but also that he is a veteran who served our country for 11 years. The process was simple, dropped the knives off on Thursday and picked them up on Friday. Thomas kept us in the loop while working, letting us know of any issues our knives might currently have and what he would do to correct it. When we brought the knives home I tested the sharpness on cutting some celery. All knives were sharp enough to cut razor thin slices of celery. Pricing is reasonable. He charged me $10 per knife. The fact they are cutting as good as they did fresh out of the box makes us very happy. It goes without saying that we highly recommend Newburn Bladez for your blade sharpening and restoration needs. I know you will be impressed. We sure are!

They had gloves and we even were able to get some flavored oils and food color at a good price for the candy. They have a lot of fun cooking items you won't find in a grocery store or department store. The staff was also helpful.

I was extremely disappointed we didn't actually cook anything. Everyone was very nice but my expectations for a $100 + cooking class per person were not met considering we didn't cook anything. I was handed a packet with all the recipes for the food we were "making". The first recipe was the crab rangoon except all we did was stuff the wonton wrappers and actually put it together. Same with the bao buns. At no point were the porcupine meatballs even a thing. They were made prior, mentioned, and put on our plates. Everything was made in advance. So I paid to fill wonton wrappers and get printed out recipes I could find online. Also, we weren't even going to get to stuff the bao buns. They were going to have a group of people do each thing - 1 to stuff the buns and the other crab Rangoon except I said I wanted to do the buns too so everyone got to do a couple. Honestly the food was bland except for the bao buns. I won't be using their recipes. Truely disappointed and feel like I was swindled out of money. They should be more forthcoming about what this "cooking class" entails. It's not actually cooking.
