Holy wowzers, this is what bibliophile dreams are made of. At some point during my youth I realized…read morethat I could upgrade from the dinky shed of a library I'd read my fill of to this towering library that is three stories (badum tss) high. There is something for everyone, and I could seriously get lost combing the aisles for books all day. They have a media section as well, one that my friend sings praises over as she binges on new music and movies. And sometimes, when you're lucky, the first floor is flooded with old books looking to be rehomed. Don't wait for the sale, come explore, and keep coming.

In the urban decay town of Medina, NY - this little library is a life saver. Though the library…read moreitself is rather small, they will quickly get you any books or DVDs from more than a dozen other branches if you request them. Everyone who works at this library is very friendly and they update their Facebook page frequently. They're very in touch with their community and they do a lot of out reach to encourage reading and socialization for local children. There are also always flyers of events going on. I come here at least a couple times a month and I also feel comfortable letting my son play on the reading carpet in the children's area and nursing him in a quiet corner of the library. I don't know what I'd do without this library! I wish that they could get more funding so they could run more programs and do more stuff.

But also be aware that libraries have so much more these days. The Batavia branch has games you can borrow, stem kits for kids, a seed library! On top of that check out the events on their website or social media, they have so many free activities for adults and kids alike, from art activities to movie nights to so many more. We have been to paint nights for both adults and even my 1 year old, they had a cool baby race my daughter participated in, we gave been to trivia and always participate in their summer read program. Stop on by they have stuff for everyone!

This is a lovely, quaint local library with plenty of space, a coffee shop, research materials,…read moresoft squishy chairs, computer access and an absolutely fantastic children's section and family programs that my kids simply adore. While its definitely NOT the huge glass roofed facilities one finds in universities and big cities, its definitely a notable one of a kind place all it's own that I'm personally quite fond of. The staff is kind, helpful and polite and all in all this library offers incredible value to the community.

There are various rooms with a great selection of children's, adult, young adult, graphic novel books. The librarians are friendly and helpful. I especially like their selection of graphic novels,. They have wonderful programs in their community room. I've attended many author talks. They take place usually in early evening, in a cozy room, featuring interesting authors and sometimes if we're lucky cookies from The Cookie Cottage down the street.

I like the room between shelves, easy to walk around, no clutter. Helpful librarians. Good selection of children's and graphic novels. If I am ever in that area, I would like to sit there and cozy up with a book, or do some uninterrupted work. There was also an art show happening with pieces from students in Amherst. What talent. The librarian was kind and enthusiastic about the program. The playground out in front looked wonderful with many children utilizing it. This is a bright, beautiful space offering so much besides the usual library things. It looked like there were a bunch of meeting rooms as well.

This sweet little small-town library in the heart of the quaint Lyndonville village is such a…read moredarling space! It is essentially a one-room library, with one corner set up nicely for children, and fiction, non-fiction, and periodicals in the other corners, plus movies and seating in the middle. As part of the Nioga Library System, patrons have access to this small but well-kept and well-cultivated in-house collection here, and also to request holds from across all Nioga branches. But you'll still find a nice assortment of books, movies, periodicals, and other resources right here. We have our camp property nearby, and like to stop in for DVDs and magazines to enjoy while at camp, especially when rain is expected (which has been most days this summer in soggy Orleans county). Also part of this library is a small adjacent building with an ongoing used book sale that is open whenever the library is open. We've picked up some fun finds at great deals there. The librarians here are always friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help. And parking is plentiful in the good sized lot. Also, keep an eye out for the library's schedule of events, which includes free concerts throughout the summer on the back lawn. If you are so fortunate to be in the adorable Lyndonville area long enough to necessitate some library check-outs, the Yates Community Library is well worth the visit! :-)

The Clarence Library is a great space. Outside is a children's garden, which I'm sure looks…read morewonderful further along into the season. I was there in early May when everything is just starting. They had a little library book sale and I picked up a David Sedaris book for a quarter. There is a great children's section. There is also a wonderful remembrance area for Flight 3407, in the back. This library also had a cute Sherlock Holmes display case that was donated to the library. This library is clean and beautifully maintained. The librarians were friendly as well. There is a large parking lot. For a Friday afternoon it was quite busy. They had a great work area for people wanting a quiet space.

I wanted to round up the rest of the Harry Potter books and movies for my Draco-Malfoy-obsessed…read moreteen before libraries potentially start closing again in these pandemic orange-zone times. :-( I went online to the library catalog, and noticed that the Clarence branch had multiple copies of both the books and the movies. Plus they were open later, which is convenient for us. So after work, off we went. The Clarence Library has plenty of parking in a big lot, which was light-and-bright on a cold, dark night. As soon as you walk in, you can see the full expanse of the vaulted, open space. It is a nice-sized library, with well-marked sections. Movies are to the right, adult books to the left, teen and children materials in the back, periodicals in the back-right corner, with all the other sections you'd expect to find at a library somewhere in between. There were computer workstations spread out in pod-like setups throughout the space, a few together in each pod, and some chunks of seating areas too. It took me a minute to find my Harry Potter items, as the books were not in Youth or YA, but rather in a separate "Series" section in the middle of the library. And the movies were in a separate "Family Viewing" section, too. But a friendly librarian helped me find everything that I needed, which was all in stock. Clarence is a very nice, bright, inviting library. When we need something and the hours/availability are convenient again at Clarence Library, we'll be back! :-)
