I ordered this durian cake for our anniversary, and wow... it's easily the best cake I've ever had…read more If you love real durian, you'll love this cake. The cream is super smooth and filled with actual durian pulp--no artificial flavor at all. The sponge is so light and fluffy that it almost melts in your mouth, and it pairs perfectly with the rich, fruity durian cream. I already love fresh durian and durian ice cream, but this was my first time trying a durian cake, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The 6-inch cake was $68, so it's definitely a treat, but I'd happily buy it again. Just make sure to order a few days ahead. The service was amazing too. Since it was our anniversary, they added a cute "Happy Anniversary" sign to the cake at no extra charge. When we picked it up, they even reminded us to head straight home because the summer heat could affect the cake. You can tell they genuinely care about the quality of their cakes and want customers to enjoy them at their best. Definitely coming back to try more flavors!

I got a few cake slices for my brother since he doesn't eat a full cake and they were very fluffy and moist. Not too sweet and very easy on the stomach. The staff was very nice and welcoming. I've never put an order for a cake before so this experience is was all new to me. I went on their…read morewebsite to put in a request for a Napoleon birthday cake with a ganache top. They had a number which I called and the person on the other end gave a number which I could text more details about what I needed, for how many, my name, etc. Since they were driving and couldn't take my order at the moment I made sure to provide as much info and the time/day. I put the order 5 days before I said it needed it and they agreed it can be done by then. I thought it was easy and I just followed it up with the change of topping on the cake. I explicitly stated to text me if they needed anything else from me since I have never done this before. I probably should've followed them up, but I was busy that week. Since I didn't hear anything afterwards I thought I had secured my order. The day I come to pick up the cake, they tell me they don't have the order. The lady who I spoke to, who I'm assuming was on the phone when I initially called, is telling me I put a request not an order and that I didn't even provide my full name (not true, I did). I'm being told that I shouldve put down a deposit and have a contract with them for the cake. I wasn't provided with any contract or a Zelle username. If I had that information I would've absolutely done it. As a business you should provide the customer with that sort of information. I had no idea and I wasn't told that thru text. Should I have followed up? Absolutely, i know that now. There's no information on the website about a contract or deposit information. Only the phone number that I first called. So they should probably update that if they have so many orders and can't keep track with request. There was a lot of deflection from the lady when i tried to explain my grievance. No apology either for the confusion. I felt crazy because I thought I might've missed their messages. Nope nothing. Only the Zelle information after I had arrive there. Luckily, they had puff pastry ready and told me they could have the cake ready in 15 min, and I really needed the cake so I agree to still do business. When I got the cake it was still warm and they told me to freeze it in my refrigerator for it to set. 15 min to get to my place and the ganache has melted off the top and custard had already spilled out from the sides. I had a long drive afterwards and not even an insulated bag could save it. It did taste good, it's too bad about communication, and everything else.

Best cake tasting experience!…read more We booked a $33 tasting experience a few months ago in preparation for our wedding. Website was very straightforward to book. You have 3 flavors and they give an extensive list of their flavors. We do love that the flavors are unique and very different from other bakeries around Orange County. We opted for the Red Velvet Cake Complimented with Cream Cheese Filling, Espresso Vanilla Cake Complimented with Tiramisu Filling, and Dark Rich Chocolate Fudge Cake Complimented with Chocolate Espresso Filling for our tasting. Upon arriving to our appointment, we found parking in front of the bakery. Its located right behind The Camp. The bakery showroom is very cute and cozy. We love the pink decor and the different cakes they have around the bakery to showcase the various types of wedding cake designs. We were greeted by Rodrick, who had graciously prepared our tastings in the form of mini cakes which we can take home to share the experience with our family. Rodrick was very informative on how the cakes are made and helped us understand how buttercream cakes are different than other types of cakes. The texture is light and not overly heavy like other cakes. The frosting is just the right amount of sweetness and not overly done. We also love how pet friendly the bakery is. We brought our little guy in a stroller and was greeted with so much love. We had the best cake tasting experience here and recommend it to any couples in the area who are looking for a wedding cake vendor.

Sadly, the jasmine tea cheesecake was one of the worst desserts we've had. It tasted so unpleasant that we ended up throwing away what you see in the photo because we simply couldn't take another bite. The checkout experience was also a little unusual. The cashier told us the credit card machine wasn't working, so the only payment options were cash or sending a Zelle payment directly to the owner. There was a small handwritten sticky note with an individual's name and phone number for the Zelle payment, which felt a bit odd. To be fair, there wasn't a large selection available when we visited, so it's possible they have other pastries or desserts that are much better than what we tried. However, based on our experience, the item we purchased was disappointing, and the $12 definitely didn't feel well spent. On the positive side, the décor and overall aesthetic were lovely and were probably the bakery's strongest feature. But as the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover... and you can't judge a bakery by its ambience either.

You can tell they take pride in what they do, even the packaging shows so much care and attention to detail. My personal fave is the Lychee Raspberry Rose cake with mirror glaze. The floral, tart and sweet flavors are perfectly balanced in every bite. I ordered it for my niece's birthday and it was the talk of the night! Oreo cake was also superb (hubby's fav). Rona the owner is such a sweetheart, friendly and very accommodating. Highly recommend if you're in the OC area and looking for something stunning and delicious - or just something to brighten up your day.

She even suggested a few ideas since I'm not super creative. She also worked around our super obnoxious football wedding topper and it still looked great! She was very professional and on the day of, she took care of everything flawlessly with my coordinator. We mainly intended on having pies because my husband doesn't really even like cake but this cake was different. Honestly probably the best cake we've ever had and it we couldn't even bring ourselves to freeze it. We fought over who got to eat what was left of it. I would highly recommend Maegan if you need desserts! This was the one food item at our wedding that our guests still talk about because it was so delicious. We will probably have to order another one for each anniversary.

So tasty! And egg free so my husband could eat it too. Everyone loved it to pieces and wouldn't stop commenting on how gorgeous it was. That signature swirl frosting is divine. We donated the leftovers to the kitchen staff at the restaurant and it was funny to see them all in the back room chowing down with delight as we left! We also had cupcakes done for the baby shower, and they too were fantastic. Somehow Maegan was able to magically come up with the right flavors to suit my pregnancy cravings without even knowing. Mmm peanut butter! So happy that Maegs Bakes Cakes is sticking around. Don't hesitate to give her a call. You won't regret it!
