This is a quaint bakery with lovely decor and friendly staff. They have a variety of baked goods so expect some tough choices. I got a variety of pastries and they were all tasty with just the right amount of sweetness. Bread base is fluffy with the perfect crisp outside. Would definitely try again!

A French bakery hidden in a small shopping center! I happened to find it while looking for a restaurant in that shopping center that is no longer there. They have a large variety of pastries and baked goods. I got a couple of danishes and a muffin for my husband. Everything was yummy. Will definitely return to try others items in the case.

I ordered a custom cake very last minute and this French Bakery on 17th delivered and saved me! Delicious cakes and desserts. Worth every penny. Service is always top-notch here and I see how they interact with each other as co-workers. Very sincere and friendly. People come and go so fast because these regulars know what they want! I love dropping in and getting treats for the whole office. Quality desserts made with love. I totally recommend!

My first impression of this place was it is so beautiful and smells so good! They have a variety of breads and pastries! I saw that they now have coffee so I came in to try it! My mom and I are hazelnut fans so we got an iced hazelnut latte and a hot hazelnut latte both with almond milk. The girl who made our coffee asked us how sweet we wanted it which was nice! We only did 2 pumps. The hazelnut latte iced was okay it wasn't the best. The coffee did taste like very watery. For the hot one it was made way too hot for my mom so she couldn't even drink it right away. I forget to ask how many shots come in it. So I would definitely ask. I've had the bread and pastries before and they are amazing but as for coffee don't know if I would get it again

I'm always excited to try new spots I otherwise might not have if it wasn't for Too Good To Go. Was craving some dessert and saw a "French Bakery on 17th" bag on the app that's usually sold out fast and was happy to snag one up. Their business name on Google Maps is different, "Le Petite Magnifique French Bakery" and on Yelp is "French's Cupcake Bakery" so I was initially a bit confused but the address is the same for all the names so easy enough to find! The store itself is super cute and I loved the decor. The pastries in the display looked very appetizing. Was greeted warmly when I arrived and was in and out pretty fast! Delighted to get a variety of items to try. I can certainly see why their surprise bags on the app are always sold out fast. Fantastic deal for quality and delicious pastries!

This hole in the wall gem gives you a slice of French cafe experience! I recently went to Paris and I miss it but I can confirm the pastries and coffee taste authentic-it made me feel like I was back in France! The coffee flavor is robust but not bitter, and was the pick-me-up I needed after a long day. The very kind lady working there even gave me a free cookie with my coffee purchase! I will definitely be coming back, the service is wonderful, the cakes look beautiful and so far the flavors are as amazing as the appearances

Walked in to here after lunch on their next door. Got a coffee and some of their cookie. The staff were nice enough to help.

    Lady bug birthday cake!

The mostly beautiful birthday cake for our daughter's birthday. They absolutely nailed the design- it was gorgeous!!! They were so kind taking my order and wanted to get all the details right. My daughter was so excited seeing this cake. It made the day!

I absolutely loved every detail about this store. A valentine cookies were so beautiful and tasted incredible. Everything we ordered was incredibly buttery rich and decadent. Highly recommend this. The people who work there were equally kind and made sure they wrapped my box up perfectly.

Hi there, could I get a estimate price quote for a 2 tier lemon blueberry cake with rose flowers on top and black lace around the cake?

Please give us a call for cake inquiries as this would fall under custom cakes. I would need more information to be able to provide you with an accurate quote.

Do you make Swedish Princess Cakes?

Yes, we make them with the green marzipan and a white rose on top.

Can you custom make a garage truck cake?

Hi Donnie. We can most of the year, but unfortunately not during the holiday season.

That pancake cake looks amazing! My husband loves pancakes and loves chocolate chip cookies.... Do you happen to make chocolate chip cookie dough cake? Or chocolate chip ice cream cake?

Hi Caitlin. Thank you for the compliment. We do have a Toll House cake which is made with chocolate chips baked into it. If that works please call the bakery at 949-642-0571 tomorrow and we will be happy to work out the details and get you a quote.

Will you have King Cake for Mardi Gras?

Hi Karen. Yes, we will have King Cake. Unfortunately we are not able to take any more orders, so we will make as many as we can for Monday and Tuesday and it will be first come, first-served.

Hello do you guys offer custom made cookies?

Yes, with enough advance notice. We can't do all custom designs due to staff shortages, but if you send a picture to: info@frenchscupcakebakery.com we can let you know if it can be done and the price. Thank you.

What kind of buttercream is the icing on your cupcakes? Do you offer any cakes or cupcakes with Swiss buttercream?

Hi Diem. We only do one type of buttercream, so unfortunately Swiss buttercream is not an option with us.

Hi! I was wondering if you have any vegan options?

Hi Melissa. we do, but it is very limited. We have a dessert item called Peanut Butter Bar and a cookie called Walnut Divinity. Those two items are the only items which qualify as vegan and they are both carried in the store on a daily basis.

Hi are you guys able to make custom cakes or only cupcakes?

Hi Austin. With sufficient advance notice, we are able to make custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies.

Will French's Cupcake Bakery be making King Cakes this year for 2021 Mardi Gras?

Yes, we will be making King Cakes. We are already accepting orders (and they don't have to be just for Mardi Gras day). Please try to give us at least a few days advance notice when calling to place your order. Thank you.

Are the prices listed for cupcakes? Did I miss that somehow?

Hi Leah. The prices are not listed, but we can tell you as of now the classic flavors are $1.50 each and the gourmet flavors are $2.75 each.

Do you make pavlovas? Or any baked meringue cakes?

Hi Jennifer. We don't make pavlovas or meringue cakes. The closest thing we make to pavlovas are what we call "Bird's Nest" which is a meringue crust about 4 inches in diameter which looks like a bird's nest and can be filled with whatever you…

How long in advance do you need to place a cake order if it's a one layer cake?

Hi Kathleen. Generally for basic flavors like chocolate, white or marble it's a couple of business days in advance. Any other flavor you might want to place the order 3 days in advance. Also, if it is around a significant holiday you might want to…

Do they only do individual orders to go or is there a bakery section?

Hi Jillian. We are a full-line retail bakery, so you can come in any day Monday through Saturday and find a selection of breakfast items, cakes, cupcakes, desserts, cookies and breads.

Hello! I'm looking for a traditional New Orleans King Cake with all the trimmings. Do you make King Cake? If not, do you recommend another local place that does? Thanks!! Need it for Monday 4/2.

Hi Lara. Yes, absolutely we make New Orleans style King cakes. We take orders for them year round. Just give us a call at (949) 642-0571 and we will see if we can set you up for Monday.

Does this place make Boston Cream Pie?

Hi Melanie. Yes, we most certainly make Boston Cream pie. It comes in various sizes depending on how many people you are serving, so please call us for specific size and price info. Thanks.

I got the combo, which consists of 4 churros, a hot chocolate and dipping sauce. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to choose the type of hot chocolate but he didn't ask. He also didn't ask what type of dipping sauce I wanted. There weren't any customers either, so it's not like they were busy. The churros were made fresh and tasted great except there were some pieces that tasted gummy/still raw. It's crispy and the sugar isn't too sweet. The hot chocolate was pretty good but very sweet. It is also scorching hot. I burnt my mouth twice trying to drink it. The sauce - I wasn't handed or asked what type of sauce I wanted. I had to ask for the sauce, which I was redirected to the ordering counter where there was a stack. Would have been nice if they had just given it to me or asked what I wanted. There's no labels or signs at all and I blindly chose what I assumed to be the cajeta- caramel but it didn't taste like caramel. At first I thought it was expired due to the sour taste, but after tasting it again a few times, it tasted like apple sauce? I'm not sure what it was but it was interesting with the churros.

Sadly, the jasmine tea cheesecake was one of the worst desserts we've had. It tasted so unpleasant that we ended up throwing away what you see in the photo because we simply couldn't take another bite. The checkout experience was also a little unusual. The cashier told us the credit card machine wasn't working, so the only payment options were cash or sending a Zelle payment directly to the owner. There was a small handwritten sticky note with an individual's name and phone number for the Zelle payment, which felt a bit odd. To be fair, there wasn't a large selection available when we visited, so it's possible they have other pastries or desserts that are much better than what we tried. However, based on our experience, the item we purchased was disappointing, and the $12 definitely didn't feel well spent. On the positive side, the décor and overall aesthetic were lovely and were probably the bakery's strongest feature. But as the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover... and you can't judge a bakery by its ambience either.

The portions are sorry-small and the cones aren't great but they're functional. I was sad to see everyone served a dill-sized scoop that looks like someone already licked half of it off. The whole presentation of the scoop is just off-putting.
