The cream is super smooth and filled with actual durian pulp--no artificial flavor at all. The sponge is so light and fluffy that it almost melts in your mouth, and it pairs perfectly with the rich, fruity durian cream. I already love fresh durian and durian ice cream, but this was my first time trying a durian cake, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The 6-inch cake was $68, so it's definitely a treat, but I'd happily buy it again. Just make sure to order a few days ahead. The service was amazing too. Since it was our anniversary, they added a cute "Happy Anniversary" sign to the cake at no extra charge. When we picked it up, they even reminded us to head straight home because the summer heat could affect the cake. This small probably locally-owned bakery is unassuming from the outside but they're quietly offering delicious treats that you must try! The staff are humble and exceedingly friendly which is becoming more and more rare as prices in the OC soar beyond tolerable levels. However if you have a few extra dollars in your pocket, spend them on the lovely chocolate or raspberry cream walnut croissants at this place. Airy and light but flavorful bundles of joy! I also ordered the delectable chocolate cake, which was not too sweet. 4 layers of cake and filling. You can actually taste the chocolate in the light layers. One can still imagine the affection imbued into their baked goods as you enjoy them. Unlike many of the others nearby who have crossed into "it's just a business" mentality. Received this as a gift for my office! I believe this is the Fruit Tart (Big). They definitely are generous with the fruit, but the tart part was a bit think and harder to eat. The flavor was great--not as sweet, but delicious. This was enough for about 8 people! Definitely cute for any occasion. I got the chance to try the Matcha Cake as well. While I was in the area this afternoon, stopped by Bakery 101 as I've seen so many good reviews for a while, and also hoping to get some croissants. Walked in the store and there was no one there other than a lady that appeared to be the owner or manager. She told me they only have the croissants on the weekends. Chatted with her for a bit and left. The rating is for the store appearance only and not the food. It is a super cute store and kept up nice and clean. There aren't a lot fresh baked goods on the shelves or in the case. I presume they aren't super busy during the weekdays so don't bake much until the weekend? The decorations are adorable and the owner was very nice and pleasant. I will be back in the weekend to try their croissants and other items, hopefully. read more

Did some yelp search and found this gem. Ordered my two year old custom bday cake and it was so easy and pricing was reasonable. Best part. The cake was as described and it wasn't very sweet. We were surprised that she used real mangos in between layers which usually is so rare since it's usually flavored frosting not actual pieces of mango. We had so many compliments from our Asian guests. Of note. Bc it's not buttercream the cake shoukd be refrigerate up to the point of serving. I would describe this bakery shop as a lovely place to get your cakes and cookies and actually any trinket that you want that they create. Like everyone said before this is a great place for Matcha cookies and Matcha cake. It does take a little bit if you want same-day service I called in and I would say about six hours later I was able to pick up my cake for a birthday it was really great in terms of service and in terms of their accommodation to my need. The workers speak Mandarin and they also only take cash if purchases are under $10 which are most of the cookies and some slices of cake unless you are purchasing multiple cakes like me. They have cake, pops, croissants, and many variety of cakes for you to buy à la carte. I will say that the price is a bit higher than what I'm used to in San Diego, but the quality is up there so expect to pay a little bit more but also know that it is quite good. read more

I do love little bakeries like this that are family owned and have unique items and flavors. It's a very small little store with a few pastries and baked good, and in the midst of it they sell quartz stones as well so it is as random as can be. They do also have coffee based drinks but are limited to just a few selection like americano, cappuccino, and latte. I got a latte to go along with my almond croissant and raspberry lilikoi cake. The cake was just so velvety and delicious with the unique combination of raspberry and lilikoi. The almond croissant was so moist and packed with flavors that I wanted more. They do also sell cakes for large events like birthdays or any party if called in advance. There's no seating area inside the store but they have a communal seating area outside. read more

Such a hidden gem! I never would have found out about this place if it wasn't recommended by my husband's coworkers. Love their unique offerings and almost everything we've tried here has been delicious! Vanilla tres leches: Such a crowd pleaser. Personally, tres leches isn't my thing, but I can see why it's so popular! It's sweet (but not overwhelming) and super moist! Strawberry roll: So. Freaking. Good. The roll looked dense/heavy but it was actually so light! And the filling with the cream and strawberries is delicious!!! Guava lilikoi mousse: I love how light and refreshing this dessert was. The guava and lilikoi flavors were both very prominent Fruit tart (large): We ordered this for a special occasion, and the cake itself was gorgeous! They definitely do not skimp on the fruit here :) However, the tart itself was a little too dense and thick for my liking, haha. Service has always been quick and friendly the few times we have come in here. I absolutely love this small family owned business! I came here in search of the best Tres Leches cake in Orange County for a birthday party, and alas I may have found it! The flavoring of the tres leches was very unique, and they can also add different types of fruit to your liking. What sold us was the chocolate tres leches cake, what a unique twist. I had never even heard of this before. We could not decide between them, so got both sheet cakes! They were both a hit at our party. This location is small, but very clean and organized, and the people working were very friendly and patient. There is a wide variety of unique flavors of cakes and pastries available. After I tried the other locations and decided on this one, I text the number they had available for orders and had everything set up for the party. The pickup of the cakes went very smoothly, they even helped me carry the cakes to my car. They give you detailed instructions of how to make sure the cake does not get damaged during transportation. Second time returning to this place due to how great their cakes are. The very first time I ordered a strawberry cake for a birthday before and it was gone within 10 mins! I felt bad because someone else also bought a cake from Porto's, but the cake from here got way more attention Now, because of the attention that the first cake received; I decided to order a custom cake (Strawberry Matcha) for another birthday. Keep in mind you need to place the order 2-3 days in advance (depending on the size of cake you're planning on getting) I ordered a 6" and it was about $48? Everybody loved the cake at the party! You can really taste the matcha and I love how light and refreshing it was with the strawberries. Not overly sweet unlike those American cakes! 10/10 would recommend coming back here ! FYI, come in and place an order in person if you don't know about cake sizes because when I tried doing that, the guy told me to just come in and seemed a bit frustrated trying to explain over the phone. My new favorite bakery! The shop is family-run with the kindest workers (they speak mandarin too) who make the most delicious & not too sweet cakes. We absolutely LOVE their matcha cake with matcha cream + strawberry bits, but honestly we have enjoyed all of their flavors so far - taro, chocolate, mocha, & mango to name a few. Their roll cake slices are also amazing. Although their cakes are on the pricier side (~$50 for 6in & ~$80 for 8in), I personally feel like it's worth it. Their taste & quality are unmatched to other bakeries in the area & we never get tired of eating their cakes. You really can't go wrong with whatever you order since the sponge is always soft & fluffy, and the cream is light but flavorful. They also have a few breads and cookies available in the shop. Tip: Make sure to call them at least 3 days in advance to reserve your cake since they don't typically have all the flavors on display! I really appreciate that they were able to accommodate for my last minute order in the past, but it really depends on how busy they are. I usually see tres leches, strawberry shortcake, and tiramisu flavors for those stopping by on short notice. The shop itself does not have any seating, but there are plenty of tables & chairs outside. I highly recommend ordering your next cake from here!
