After having cataract surgery in Nov/Dec, 2020 with Dr. Claire Chu I needed a follow-up procedure called a Posterior Capsulotomy also known as a YAG. I've read that about one third of cataract patients require this follow-up laser procedure. Most need it within 6 months of the cataract surgery. I had noticed that my vision had deteriorated since my cataract surgery 3 years ago. During an annual vision exam with my optometrist he said I needed a YAG and so I went back to visit Dr. Chu. She confirmed that I did indeed need it and it was scheduled for one eye the following week and the other eye the week after. She even provided a recommendation for over the counter moisture eye drops and a coupon to use when purchasing them! Dr. Chu answered all of my questions and during the laser procedure talked me through exactly what was happening. My eye was dilated and moisture eye drops were given. The procedure was done while I was sitting in a chair with the head and chin pressed forward in their machine. There is a clicking sound and it feels like little BB's are being shot at the back of my head. It's not painful at all, just a weird sensation. I highly recommend Dr. Chu at Newman & Taub. I have used her services for a total of 4 procedures- cataract surgery and posterior capsulotomies in both eyes. I have complete confidence in her. Not only is Dr. Chu kind and extremely knowledgeable, but the entire staff--and I mean every last person--goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and taken care of. The first time I went, I thought it might be a one time thing. Nope. Every. Single. Time. I ended up needing cataract surgery, and everything went smoothly. When I would go to this office, I would pay my sons bill in full before I would leave. Then 1yr ago the office called and confirmed my appointment and told me I could not come to the office unless I was vaccinated with the "Covid Clot Shot". So I never went So I have not been to this office for 2yrs. Now they send me a bill for $30. I called and asked what this was for and they tell me in generic terms someone for got to charge me this on my bill when I paid 2yrs ago. Never said what it was for and said they hired new people who found the error. Absolutely amazing. read more

Last weekend I broke a rigid gas permeable contact lens and when I ordered one on Monday they told me it would be between five and seven business days until I would receive the replacement lens and to my amazement they called me on the third day (Wednesday)to tell me that the lens had come in. My first prescription didn't work, gave me headache & hurt my eyes. They wouldn't let me make an appointment to get a better prescription or even use previous prescription. Said I had to walk in. I have waiting here for over 45 minutes & they just told me that I have keep waiting because I am walk-in. Finally they spent five minutes with me & confirmed that lenses were prescribed prescriptions (which I had already told them had been verified by Pearle Vision). Than told me that I would have to come back later for another appointment. read more

Dr. Taub performed my recent cataract surgery on both of my eyes. From start to finish, he is a top-notch professional! This doctor is knowledgable, patient, and extremely kind. He explained everything and kept me very informed the entire time. His office staff is bustling but excellent. I can't say enough about how lucky I am to found such a great doctor! To say the least, I haven't been pleased with Dr. Taub and Newman. I visited the center and met with Dr. Taub to do some further analysis on my eyes. I found his personality to be uncaring and inconsiderate. I had a long waiting time to see him and when he did come by, he was rushing already to see the next patient waiting. I remember him nonchalantly asking me "does it all made sense?" as he was walking out the door. It was a complete disregard to my needs as a patient. I wish I could say Dr. Newman was much different. He was just marginally better in this regard. After conducting some tests, they were supposed to send the results to my optometrist. When I visited my optometrist, she said they never sent them. A waste of my time and very unprofessional. When it came down to payment, the receptionist didn't know if I had met my deductible yet and didn't know how much I owed so she jokingly said like, 'that's ok - we know where to find you in case you owe any money'. As someone who had recently had a recent onslaught of health expenses (and to the millions overburdened by healthcare expenses), this was no laughing matter for me. It was just another example of how little they care about the health and satisfaction of their patients. I visited the center for several checkups because of my optometrist referral. They charge a lot and are only with you for 15 minutes at most. I don't say this lightly, but I'd recommend against coming here. I was very happy with my experience. My wife recommended Dr. Taub so I felt good, but then I got a little worried after just randomly reading some of these reviews. I can't imagine how they could be so different from my own experience. Since I've been hovering close to diabetic, my GP doctor recommend that I have a diabetes eye test. Between that test and a standard eye exam, I was at their office for under an hour and a half. I've been catching up on various medical checkups over the last month or so and have had a lot of doctors appointments. The time frame of this one was a little less than most of the others. That includes all wait time and time getting different test taken. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The first tech I met with was Ron and he was friendly, personable and professional. Next I met with a tech for a few minutes who was also friendly and professional but I don't remember her name. Dr. Taub was very positive and professional. Prior to going, my wife had nothing but good things to say about him. I truly have no complaints and must say the time spent was nearly half of my last eye doctor. Extremely long waits is why I left my previous one. I would ask absolutely recommend Dr. Taub to anybody who is looking for a good eye doctor. read more

I saw Dr. Taub a couple years ago because I had dry eyes. Very, very red, dry, irritated eyes. It was obvious I needed eye-plugs to maintain the moisture in my eyes. He told me that FIRST he had to put in temporary eye plugs, that would dissolve within a week. If my eyes didn't over-tear, then he could give me the permanent plugs. I told him that I had permanent plugs in the past which had fallen out, and that I wanted the perm plugs, not the temps. He said NO, The perm plugs would be very expensive, and we should make sure that I need them by putting in the Temp plugs first. I think Dr. Taub spent a grand total of 5 minutes with me and pretty much suggested that he was in a hurry and needed to go. I was charged something like $700 for that visit. My HRA acct paid for a good portion of it, but it left my account with almost no money in it. I couldn't afford the drops he prescribed me which were $100 a month, and I certainly couldn't afford to come back for the permanent plugs. It's obvious to me why Dr. Taub put the temporary plugs in my eye... BC he knew I'd have to come back for the perm plugs. HE'S GREEDY AND WANTED TO MAKE MORE MONEY OFF ME. Doctors are supposed to be caring and help you. This guy isn't. Don't support him. read more

Do not recommend Dr. Taub. I was a long time patient and he misdiagnosed by eye issue resulting in emergency surgery for detach retina. On top of that, his office miscoded my file resulting in a delay in finding a surgeon to repair. read more

I had laser surgery 2010 and now my vision is progressively getting back to wear is was. I am not sure if it was Dr.Taub technique or laser he chose to use but I am very disappointed with my results. I have to now wear glasses to have corrected vision. Dr. Clare Chu, of Newman and Taub Vision Center, was OUTSTANDING from diagnosis through post surgery. Aside from her easy and relaxed demeanor, she is a very skilled surgeon. The day of surgery, she put me at ease and provided attentive after care, as well. She is at 2 locations, this one in Dallas and the other one in Plano. I was referred to Dr. Newman by my sister in law. My appointment was at his office in Plano on Coit Road the week of 3-5-2012. Without a doubt this doctor should not even be in practice. He was the most rude, ineffective eye doctor that I have ever met in my entire experiences in dealing with these type of doctors. It was obvious he uses scare tactics to put patients under the knife. Even the most uneducated can tell this is a cruel, totally self-serving doctor. Your first red flag starts in his waiting room with a torn leather chair for patients on to every picture on the walls not being straight. In meeting him, your first impression is poor in his seemly "lost" approach in surveying the needs of a patient. He is totally engrossed in himself to the point he does not even hear what you have to say as to why you are even in his office. You will also find all his office personnel are just as goofy and cold as he is. Save your time and effort and avoid this poor excuse for a doctor. read more

I met with Dr. Taub this week to discuss possible surgery on my eye. I was the rudest man I have ever met in my life. I literally walked out of his office not even feeling like a human but more of a dog being talked to. Every time I tired to ask a question he deferred and at the end I was left with many questions and no answers. To say the least he was rude, in a hurry and inconsiderate. Also he sees all his patients with to doors open. Not only could I hear all the patients consults around me but also the nurses gossiping in the halls. Not sure what these peoples problems are with Newman & Taub. My family and I have been a clients for several years. They have always been very professional and courteous when ever we go there. My daughter had an eye injury playing sports in High school and they took us in right away, no questions asked. He saw us right away and diagnosed the situation immediately. I have gone to Dr. Newman for years and have never had an issue and found his staff to be kind and friendly. I've never been "gouged" price wise and they don't overcharge my insurance company. Everyone has a bad hair day, so-to-speak, and if anyone is cranky in their office or rude, I would probably have to politely ask them about it and if there was anything I could do to make their day better...and that goes for the doctor as well. All in all, they are very good at what they do and I would recommend them "network" to friends and family. read more

So surprised to read anything but positive reviews for Drs. Taub and Newman. (I haven't ever been seen by Dr. Chu.) But Dr. Taub, who did an excellent job with my cataract surgery on both eyes, always spends as much time with me as I need for exams and Q&A, and Dr. Newman goes above and beyond to work with me and has actually been able to fit contacts for an astigmatism that no one else has gotten right. This guy did cataract surgery on both my wife and myself, and we both got great results. Some of the reviews I have read below seem to be hatchet jobs, and ludicrous at that. I am preparing to get my second eye cataract surgery done by this doctor who I trust. You don't graduate from Duke by accident. Do your own research. read more
