I've seen Dr. Claire Chu twice now, once a year ago and again yesterday. She is very professional, caring and easy to talk to. Last year I was referred to her since my regular eye doctor diagnosed cataracts. Dr. Chu checked my eyes and said I was borderline needing the surgery and suggested I wait. I was glad she was honest and not just trying to get a patient into surgery to make $$. This recent visit confirmed what I already suspected, it was time ito schedule cataract surgery. I noticed that I was having trouble driving at night and was relying on my glasses a lot more. I've got a pre-op appointment scheduled and the surgery as well as the post surgery appointment. The office staff was friendly and very helpful. The office observes Covid-19 safe protocols. Masks required, temperatures are taken, a place for clean/dirty pens. Dr.Larry Taub definitely brought light and brightness back to my life. I am very happy for the result of my cataract surgery. I had long forgotten that this is indeed a beautiful world with so many beautiful colors before the surgery, but now, it feels like a completely beautiful new world to me. Dr. Larry Taub was so skillful that I experienced almost no pain at all after the surgery. I was able to go back to my normal routine almost immediately starting next day. He was very patient and understanding. He eased all my nervousness and worry before the surgery and he made sure everything goes right after the surgery in my follow-up visits. I just had my second cataract removed 12/20/24 by Dr Chu. She also removed 2 for my brother and 2 for my husband. I was very pleased with every procedure. Her two offices (plano and 635) have wonderful staff, it's obvious everyone employed at both offices love their jobs. The surgery center process is a very well oiled process , each of the 6 surgeries appointments were scheduled at 6AM and we were all done and back home by 8:30. This is an update to my previous review. Dr.Chu is making an effort to find a remedy for my failed surgery. I received a call on 7/10 (next appt. Was for 7/11) letting me know that they had decided to not charge me for the after surgery appointment. She said it was a full examine but they decided not to charge me. My 90 year old mother's vision radically worsened and she could no longer read the newspaper and do word searches. These are her favorite activities. Then , I noticed her withdrawing from the world and sleeping so much . She refused to walk much and talked about a fear of falling. She could no longer distinguish colors . I suspected cataracts because for years , she told me they were there but not ready to be removed . I wrestled with exploring this possibility, because I feared the procedure would be too much for her . She lives in a facility and she has cognitive deficits . I read reviews about surgery centers being impersonal and like a cattle call. I knew she would be overwhelmed and possibly confused . I found Dr. Chu online and loved what I read . I made the appointment and Dr Chu confirmed a cataract in each eye. She and her staff could not have been more patient , understanding , and kind . She is very calm and reassuring. The surgery was quick and pain free. I was back with my mom in recovery in about 20 minutes . She was sitting up, drinking a soft drink, and having crackers . Staff wheeled her out although she seemed able to use her walker and walk out . We are now three weeks out and her vision in the corrected eye is better than mine with contacts! We went today for a post op and pre op visit for the other eye. She has no fear about the procedure. Staff at her facility say " she is a new person." She visits with the other residents and walks about more. She is reading and doing word searches . She points out colorful things on the regular . I am so glad that I found Dr. Chu. The office is quiet and you get a personal feel. There is plenty of close parking and handicapped parking. Mother was treated with respect and dignity during every step of the process . Dr. Chu performed cataract procedures on both my eyes. My experience at the Plano office and the Greenville Surgery Center was exceptional. The girls at the Plano office - Tish, Marcy, Amy and Nicki were super helpful, friendly and patient. They explained each procedure clearly before they did it. At the surgery center, Michele, Michelle, and Fern were so friendly and helpful and I remember Blane (in my fog) as very friendly and helpful. I felt an instant connection with Dr. Chu when I met her. She was warm, thorough, patient and explained everything about my procedure. She has been blessed with a God given talent, and, has blessed me with a new gift of sight. My wife and I both have been seeing Dr. Taub for the past several years after it was determined that we needed cataract surgery and have continued to use their services in both their Plano and Dallas offices. We have always been seen with a caring attitude with great concern for our needs. I would like to mention in particular Michelle Lee. Unfortunately, I never got to see Dr. Chu due to her incredibly rude front desk staff. After I arrived approximately 10 minutes late, I walked into the office to see the two employees glaring at each other, but received no greeting, just a "can I get your name". When I attempted to check in, they said your appointment was a little bit ago and we put you down as a "no show". There was no one in the lobby and they offered no apology, just a push to reschedule. Let this be a word to you and a warning to new patients - people need a little wiggle room on time - especially in the Metroplex. If your policy is this strict, perhaps you should notify people beforehand so they don't waste their time. read more

Be very careful when choosing an eye doctor, we only get the one set. Unfortunately Dr Chu doesn't seemed as concerned about that as you would want your doctor to be. She treated my concerns with utter disregard and then dismissed me. In addition I could hear her staff discussing I in detail a *problem patient * she had preformed surgery on and attempting to set them up with retina and it becoming their problem. Dr. Newman and his staff are amazing. They fit me on short notice and Dr. Newman was able to help me with a cyst on my cornea. He made it disappear, and reassured me after explaining what it was and how he would take care of it. In just 30 minutes I felt normal again. Thank you Dr. Newman.
