Great place to study! My girl always goes here every Monday to study for her nursing stuff. She's really studious, but cannot focus at home so she goes to cafes and libraries to find her mojo to study. She's grateful about this place because few libraries are still open til 9pm. Not to mention, this library is one of the most safest and cleanest libraries I ever been to. Well granted I was from Long Beach/ LA area so our libraries there are pretty rough to say the least lol. Newport Beach library is beautiful. It's quite big. I was surprised to see how comfortable I was and started reading and lost track of time. Some libraries are not inviting, but this one made me feel calm and relaxed. There's plenty of parking. I just happened to park in the wrong place. There are lots of areas to study. Air-conditioning is nice and cool. There's a kids' area and teen area too. The kids' area is huge. Parents can sit and watch their kids play. If it was not so far away, I think I would go there daily. It's a really nice library. They also have a community center nearby where you can book a room for a parties and celebrations. read more

Continues to be wonderful, has a new cafe now. Teen area is more updated for the teens although adults still go there as well. Most studying for AP exams in college and high school have enjoyed this spot. Great place to rent Xbox, Playstation games and many DVD's currently out. The Newport Beach Public Library is a modern and newer library in Orange County. Any California resident can apply for a library card. Their mobile app is easy to use and convenient for searching and renewing leases. It is very clean inside, staff are nice, and there is a passport center downstairs available via appointments. The parking structure shared with the Civic Center offers plenty of spaces. It is also adjacent to the park and large grass areas. read more

I recently visited this library for the first time in order to see my friend's abstract art exhibit. This library is spectacular. It has a large collection of whatever you are looking for. I am so enamored with the building, the collection, the space, and of course, local artists being able to exhibit their art for the public here. This is a very comfortable place to hang out with your friends and your family and just relax and enjoy the library materials. It is also attached to a very large center with a Bristol Farm and many little shops that you can get food, drinks, or desserts. My friend, Liberty Dickinson's art is currently on display until May 2, 2025. I have pictures of her display at the library, but it is so much more impressive in person. I look forward to seeing her collection one more time and also coming back and looking at the new art exhibitions that will be in place in the future. There is plenty of parking. First time coming here and couple weeks ago and planning to make it back down when I have more time. As a college student, I absolutely love that there's a lot of tables and chairs for studying, but what really stood out to me was the study rooms! You can stay there alll day if you wanted to but be warned it is $5 per hour and can accommodate up to 3 people. It is first come first serve and the unlimited reservation hours is amazing. Other libraries only allow up to 2 which is a little inconvenient. This is probably the one thing that sets this library apart from the other ones. It's also just beautiful to look at when you're not in the study room. read more

I enjoy this library so much. When I was unemployed, I would come here every week. Not only is it beautiful inside and out but they carry brand new and old novels and have an easy to understand holding process on their app! Your library card is easy to access on the app along with easy renewal and they even have virtual books on there. I have been coming here for many years now and still love this library especially the children's area. Great selection of books, toys, large play area and the staff at the children's area are LOVELY. I am updating my review to include the terrible customer service and attitude from the staff right by the book return area / the entrance of the children's area. That desk is usually manned by 2 staff and most times they are laughing and chatting among themselves. As soon as you walk up to them for help their demeanor changes and they become rude and mean, treating you like you are doing something wrong. This has happened to me a couple of times and it is the only off putting thing about the library. I wish they'd be more relaxed and positive to customers. read more

My favorite library in OC! Be advised that this branch is part of the Newport Beach Public library system, so the card from OC Public Libraries won't work here. You can still sign up for a free library card at the front desk as long as you bring your ID. The library is very clean, and they have a great collection of books, e-books, and other resources. They have conference and study rooms you can book ahead of time, and they also sell used books downstairs some mornings. Best part is some parts of the library have an ocean view. read more

Three levels with a courtyard (tables are easily occupied), media lab, art exhibitions, books, and a vast DVD collection of movies and music. My friend and I loved roaming all the floors, checking out the art, and admiring the breathtaking outside architecture. The roof mimics beach waves. Parking is shared with a very upscale strip mall with Sprinkles and Tommy Bahama restaurant. Fashion Island and Roger's Garden are a block away. read more

We really love this library and often come here to borrow books. The collection is very rich and diverse. The whole building has a modern and minimalist design that feels spacious and welcoming. Our favorite spot is the children's reading room on the first floor, it's perfect for reading with our child and also a great place to relax at the same time. read more

I have difficulty being quiet. I was the one who had the excessive talking checkmark on my report card. When I first walked in everyone was silent and very serious as they pretended to study. I felt like I had to tiptoe and I could still hear my feet touch the ground. With Covid they blocked off several tables to maintain social distancing. They have plenty of plugs and wifi to get your work done. This is perfect because I was able to complete a few reports and send out a few emails while I was here. The WIFI was a little unstable. I had to re connect twice. Maybe that was my clue to go home. Plenty of parking. Easy Peasy entrance and exit route. Super close to PCH. If you need a quiet place to work to get stuff done then this place is for you. read more

This Is like The Most beautiful local libraries Out in the South OC area that I have ever explored. I went further out from 'Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar,' last trip so I also drove down Newport Beach City Hall where the Community Library was. I soooo borrow books here all the time if I lived in the OC area..... It's not far from either the Corona Del Mar Plaza or 'Crystal Cove Shopping Center,' either. I'll do be back in a flash! I can just drive down here on the next upcoming weekends or another next long weekend. What a beauty! I have taken a video somewhere stored in my camera roll. Gotta look for that. read more

Besides studying at my school's library, I enjoy coming to Newport Beach Public Library to study and get my assignments done. It's a great change in atmosphere. There are plenty of seats for you to stay at. They have seats by the windows for those that like to be in natural sunlight, seats in the middle of the library away from the windows, cubicle seats, independent study rooms that you can be in by yourself or with a group if you reserve upon arrival, and even seats outside! If you don't have a computer/laptop they have some available for use too. Wifi is very fast and it's nice and quiet inside the library. It's one of my favorite spots to be productive in. read more

This is an independent library for the city that is NOT part of the county. So if you have an orange county public library card, that will not work here. That being said because Newport is one of the wealthier cities in Orange county, the library is magnificent. The architecture, share vastness of space, organization and decor are top notch for a public library. Also, behind there is an entire sculpture exhibition in the civic center park which houses the famous Bunnyhenge display. You do have to be a resident of California to a free Newport Beach library card. It's just a really quick sign up on a half sheet of paper and show your ID. There is a limit of 50 items checked out per card. (More restrictions on electronic media). Been coming here for years because the hours are longer than most and the parking is free. But honestly there's 0 library etiquette from staff. They talk super loud and are very rude, and when you ask them to address others being loud or disruptive, they do absolutely nothing. Also, this is a library with so many professionals and students studying. Why are there so many children continuously running around and screaming and no one does anything about it? The library itself is lovely. The parking garage is a hot mess. People feel it's okay to speed around and almost hit children and elderly. Try to park in a spot somebody's laying on their horn or flashing their lights. WHERE ARE THE SECURITY GUARDS FOR THE PARKING STRUCTURE? Upon calling the library and asking for assistance with an issue with somebody in the parking garage they said to call on Monday morning to City Hall, they also suggested calling the police tomorrow morning and talking to the police department. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??? Okay so I guess it's all right to speed in the parking structure almost hit cars have bad behavior why not just do a few donuts and make it a racing course? Because clearly you can do whatever you want there. And once again until somebody gets hit and killed nothing will be taken seriously. SHAME ON YOU!!!!! read more

What an amazing place! I have been patronizing this library for over 20 years. Staff are amazingly kind and helpful. My child attended their story times since infancy. I feel very fortunate to be able to use their facilities. This City library also has three other smaller branches, making it so convenient for all. I've seen them patiently assist customers of all ages and backgrounds. I recommend it to everyone who wants a book, to use their sound lab, media lab with the latest design software, or attend a lecture ALL FOR FREE! All you need is their library card. This library is one of the prettiest I've seen! Not only is it huge, but you see a nice nature aesthetic of trees and ton of sunlight through the windows. There is also a cafe, but it was closed when I went today on a Saturday. Plenty of seating with personal outlets. It was quiet, but not too quiet. Perfect for concentrating on my studies. Every Saturday morning, they also hold a "book sale" of gently used books near the front entrance when you walk in. I definitely recommend checking it out. I got a whole plastic bag of books for only $3! Super excited to read these in the near future. :) read more

We came here originally for the bunny sculptures out front but when we saw it was attached to this library we quickly headed in. After taking the long route in (yeah we got a little lost), we found the most beautiful library I never knew existed. Clean wide aisles with plenty of books and plenty of seating areas. I don't have a library card but this definitely made me want to look into it. Even at the height of business, there are still plentiful areas for people to sit, study, relax, or do whatever they need to do. The staff's service is incredibly prompt as I placed a book on hold and the next day it was already there with name printed for me to pick up and self check out. Updated library review: I wanted to work at the library. For work, I needed a good cellular signal so that my phone could act as a hotspot. (The library Wi-Fi is unsecured, which is not good for work.) The front desk staff advised me to sit outdoors on the second floor patio. On that patio, there is OK cellular service at 6 Mbps; you can still use Wi-Fi if you need it. This is one of the nicest and most funtional libraries in Orange County. It is kept clean and organized and has great views including of the ocean in some areas. Great big windows and lounging areas give this library a very open and modern feel. Like all of us, it seems like I always have a ton of work including weekend work. I can come here at 9am and leave by 3pm with accomplishing much more than a regular work day. It is cozy yet practical and a very efficient place to accomplish a great deal. Two stories to read any stories. The first floor has periodicals, the bookstore and the children's section. The second floor has study desks and tables, computers, copy/scanning area. 5 Stars ~Great Views ~Clean ~Modern ~Cozy ~Artsy ~Easy Parking ** Bathroom upstairs sucks. It gets crowded here and sometimes noisy. Bring head phones. Inspend a great deal of time here getting stuff done without feeling like I am in an actual library. As good as t gets! read more
