This review is long overdue! I've been to this shop a few times now, and every visit has been nothing short of five-star service. On my last visit, Harrison and Daniel took incredible care of me. We rented two bikes with child seats for the week and the two guys that helped us out were great! Super helpful and set us up for the week. Our kids ended up not being fans of riding and we had to take the bikes back early and they were helpful with that as well. Cruisers is one of our favorite spots. Great vibe, great drinks, and an awesome staff that always makes you feel like a regular. Malia is our favorite bartender though. renting a bike here is easy and fast. couple of things to note: 1. $7 hr not $5 as posted on their website 2. $4.50 an hr to park for metered parking 3. free street parking is hard to find but possible it might a few blocks away to walk 4. the bike path is not very scenic as the water is so far away 5. plenty of shops nearby to grab a drink or bite to eat if your in the area recommend to stop by and rent a bike for a 1-2 hours. read more

I did not rent a bike from these people, but I got an unexpected flat tire on the Balboa peninsula with my E bike. I noticed that they were only .8 mile from my location so I called. They were so helpful, polite and really bailed me out of a bad situation! I was back on my bike in about 45 minutes. Also, their price for fixing the flat was about half of what I paid elsewhere. I've always wanted to rent bikes and ride down the beach. This location is right off the beach and they even have a few parking spots to drop off the family/friends while you search for parking. Parking isn't the best, but you will find a spot and it will cost $$. Other than that, this place was great! We were helped right away, paperwork was fast (they keep a scanned copy of your ID and CC), paid for two hours ($5/hour), and bikes were ready for us right away. They ask if you need a basket or lock with your bike rental. They made sure the bikes were the proper height for us. They are super flexible. If we went over the 2 hours, we would just pay the extra when we returned the bikes. As for the paperwork, when we returned, they shredded the copy of ID/CC in front of me. This is a great place if you want to take friends/family out to explore. It's central to all the food and drinks as well. Until I buy my own bike, I'll come back here. read more

Not the type of person to leave a negative review however I was instructed to bring my bike in at 10 AM for service and after my 45 minute drive over the store it wasn't even open. I waited outside for over an hour and a half, reluctant to drive back home and still nobody showed up. When I finally got a hold of the store four hours later, the owner stated that he was running "errands" and gave no remorse whatsoever. Might have good prices and good bikes, I don't know, but little to no courtesy when it comes to customers that want to bring them business. read more

This location does not take reservations, so it's more of a walk in service. The only thing compared to other bike places is that they open a little later. The business website stated the shop opened at 10am, we arrived a little before 10 and the two employees (who arrived at 10) were annoyed we were there. We greeted them with, " Good morning," were told we needed to come back in about 15 or so min (as they needed to set the bikes out). We chose to stand around a large electrical box (and people watch, this is close to the beach) and were then rudely told that we were in the way. Why we didn't decide to go to another bike shop and give them our business, I keep kicking myself for that decision to this day, but I've been coming to this shop for years and wanted to continue my loyalty. HUGE MISTAKE Upon returning and renting 4 bikes, we were very clear that we needed to have the bikes for both Sat and Sunday but weren't sure if we could have the bikes back by 6pm Sunday evening (the shops closing time). The man said not to worry, smiled politely and said he would square it up with us then. Again, I should have asked further questions as to WHAT HE MEANT BY THAT!!! The bikes cost $30 per day/ per bike for an overnight rental. Monday morning, again, we were waiting at the door before 10 am - to return the bikes. The employees arrived exactly at 10am... gave us the unpleasant look as they did two days earlier and when they were finally ready to help us in returning our bikes, rather then providing a discounted price (or something of sort) for keeping the bikes overnight which would be understandable (as it was our responsibility to have had the bikes returned by 6pm on Sunday evening) the jerk employee charged us an additional $30 for each bike ! Essentially.... They made $60 bucks for us returning two bikes at business OPENING on Monday, just so that they can turn around and rent out the bikes again to someone that day and charge them a full day!! NEVER EVER will we rent from these shady assxxxxx!!! The rudeness we experienced on day one should have been enough, but the continued attitude and final straw of poor business in charging us the full day of rental was enough for me to write this review. Shame on you guys!! I'll be sure to spread the word throughout the community regarding your terrible practice of taking advantage of people. Karma comes back around. read more

I dropped my truck off for repairs in Santa Ana, and took advantage of the wait time with a training ride for the Lifecycle San Francisco to LA ride. So, I rode my bike west on Edinger to Santa Ana River Trail and then rode to Newport Beach via PCH. Great ride, but 2 of 3 screws on my right cleat came out leaving just one. I could not twist out of my cleats. So I took my foot out of the shoe leaving the shoe attached to my pedal. I'm sure I looked like a doofus. Using a short 1/2 inch screwdriver tool from my tool kit I pried the cleat off the pedal. It was not easy to do. Fortunately there was a bike shop, Newport Cruisers, half a mile away. Daniel in service was able to help me. He found a bolt that fit and cut down a washer to hold it in place. Amazing. I made it all the way home with no problems. Thank you Daniel! read more

We rented 4 cruisers from this place. It was $5 an hour or $20 for the day. You can pay for a couple hours and keep the bikes all day if you want. You just pay the difference when you return them. The bikes were obviously rentals as they weren't in great shape. However, they worked fine and we rode them several miles without any issues. read more
