No other shop measures you and makes sure the bike fits anymore. They will actually build the bike and change the neck or whatever part they can to fit your body. They focus on comfort for women and have a variety of saddles and bike gear to ensure comfort for your body type on the bike you buy from them. They are located in a cute little Quonset Hut that holds way more than it looks like it should on the outside. Lisa and team assembled my Linus roadster 3i bike a few months ago. And since then they've helped me customize it with brooks grips, saddle, saddle bag, a Thule rack to increase weight capacity to haul around my little one in the yep maxi bike seat. She recently installed the Linus headlamp and changed out the cables to white. Despite many items being back ordered from the manufacturers she stayed in contact with me on the project and was always responsive. She did a great job in managing my expectations in terms of timing and cost. I also bought a helmet, gloves and tools from their shop. This place is a small treasure! First, is a women owned and run small business which automatically is a win for me and second, they could not be more informative, friendly and honest with what they can and can't do for you. I brought my Liv bike here so I can get a new wheelset installed. I brought the wheelset but need tires and tubes and had to leave my bike with them for a few days. I even had a question with a price for the tires I got, since I had found it cheaper elsewhere and Lisa was able to explain to me why their price was the way it was and was fully satisfied with her answer. I got it my bike back about a week later and it was installed perfectly. Haven't had issues with it and my bike feels brand new! On Sept 8th I was in Irvine riding with a friend at Bay Bay. Unfortunately I suffered a punctured tube and forgot to bring a spare. I checked Cervelo's web site for the closest authorized dealer and made my way to The Unlikely Cyclist. Although it was 10:30am I decided to go and wait for 30min as they open at 11am. 11:15am not a sign of anyone in the small store. This place is the best bike shop in Newport! It's the only all women run bike shop on the West Coast. The are open during quarantine which I'm so thankful for. I called before to make sure they had the tires I needed which they did! I was only 5min away and when we got their she changed the tires within 20min! Very cute and quaint shop. It's in a quonset hut from WWII, the same ones they used as their Barracks. This whole area used to be an ammunition's factory for WWII! Love the history of the building and the service of the girls! In a time of bike shortages and long wait times, I was able to get an incredible Cannondale road bike in my size (44!) right off the floor. I'd waited seven years to upgrade from my first road bike and I could not be happier with my purchase, which was at a very reasonable price. Lisa and her team set me up with upgraded tires and even put on pedals and water bottle holders so I was ready to ride immediately. I have been a customer since store opened in 2012! The selection of clothing for women of all sizes is seriously without competition as most bike shops carry minimal clothing for women and don't typically carry clothing for plus sizes. Here not only do they have plus sized options those options are stylish. In fact pretty much everyone can get a quality shop "kit" (jersey and shorts) which is very unusual. The shop carries accessories like lights, gloves, pumps, tubes, tires and so much more. If they don't have the thing you want it can be ordered. I have gotten two Stages brand power meters thanks to Lisa being able to order them. Want a Garmin bike computer, Lisa can get it. Supporting and getting women confidence on the bike is a key component of this shops modus operandi. They have clinics for stuff like basic things like changing a flat to learning how to ride in a pace line. Nobody is turned back here. Beginners find support and more advanced riders get inspiration and challenged. Every year the shop trains those who want to, to achieve goals and do rides they have previously felt were outside their reach and comfort zone. I've witnessed the transformations in confidence that have been achieved when women have been trained to do rides such as the Cool Breeze Century (100 miles). Lisa took the time to listen to my past experience and my future goals to recommend the best bicycle for my needs. Not once did I feel talked down to or that I was being up-sold to something out of my skillset and budget. When the bike was delayed (good old supply chain issues), she was very communicative during the whole process. When there was yet another delay, she took matters into her own hands and, with just the frame in hand, BUILT MY BIKE FROM SCRATCH!! This is the best bike shop around. I finally decided to upgrade my old mountain bike and get a road bike. Lisa (the owner) could not have been more patient or helpful. She is extremely knowledgeable and was able to provide bike options that matched what I was looking for. Remember, we are in a pandemic. Bikes and bike parts are almost impossible to get and everything is on backorder. She was still able to get me on an amazing Cannondale bike. We did a thorough bike fit and she showed me how to change a flat (VERY IMPORTANT), so I don't get stuck on the side of the road somewhere waiting for a ride.
