There's an easy going vibe, shops, bars, and restaurants at Newport Pier. You can walk or ride on the boardwalk, take a stroll on the pier, or a dip in the ocean . Take a pic of your license plate if you don't know it. You'll need it when you pay for parking.

Newport Pier is located at Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. It's located next to miles of beaches that are a popular attraction due to the beautiful Southern California weather. There are paid parking lots in the area but it can get busy due to all the restaurants, bars, and shops nearby. The wooden pier is great for sunsets and there were unobstructed views of the sun going down into the water. The pier is also a popular place for fishing and we saw many people with their fishing poles and buckets to store their caught fish. The pier is a great spot for ocean views and also has public restrooms, showers to wash off, and spacious and clean amenities.

Newport Pier offers fine, soft sand with plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy yourself. It is located at Balboa Peninsula, offers stunning ocean x beach views. Moreover, its sand is very granular, soft and clean. People come here from all over the world not just the locals. Here at the Pier people can go surfing, fishing, play beach volleyball, biking and sunbathing. Parking lot is available for convenience albeit costly. Overall, this is one of the best pier beaches in So Cal. I recommend you visit.

Spent the afternoon here with my kiddo and had a great time. Parking was challenging, and I didn't expect it to be as busy as it was on a Tuesday afternoon. But I did manage to find a spot after circling the main lot once. After parking we found our little spot ocean front and played in the sand and water. There are lots of restaurants in the area, so it's great after a day at the beach being able to just walk around and choose a spot.

How can you not love this pier? Beautiful view over to Catalina Island, and up along the coast easy parking although expensive right up front. Definitely a great spot to catch the sunrise or sunset and to watch the surfers at the break.

Absolutely loved this spot! I got dropped off every time, but there seemed to be plenty of parking in the area. There are so many restaurants, bars, and gift shops. The sidewalk along the beach was large and there were nice benches and trash cans every few feet. It was very peaceful and clean. Definitely one of my favorite places!

Beautiful morning at the Newport Pier!

This is one of those places that I come back to over and over and over again! I love the pier. The view the friendly people the charming restaurants and shops. Do you want a nice walk? Some unique people watching? Some awesome body surfing? A great view? It is all here, bring and friend, feel happy!

Newport Pier is an iconic location in Orange County. I used to live nearby on 40th and I'd bike everyday or every other day along the boardwalk. It's serene and peaceful in the off-season. During the summer months, it's a bastion of activity. My husband and I were in town at the pier and we decided to take a long leisurely walk. It's nice to feel the breeze, take in the sea salted air, and enjoy the sounds of waves along the shore. It doesn't get better than life in California, am I right? Well, I definitely think so if you have never been. It is worthwhile to visit. Parking can be found at the nearby lots for a fee. It used to be metered, but now they utilize Park Mobile and you can pay with your card online via your Apple or Google wallet. Come for the sand, stay for the sunset.

Newport Pier is home to many cute shops and restaurants to complement the beautiful beach. It's a great date spot, and it's pretty safe at night. The sunsets are gorgeous, but it does get crowded during this time, so parking may be tough.

Sunset is gorgeous as it looks in the sky with the feeling of the ocean breeze. Newport Beach is wide and clean, while people are kind and relaxed. You can enjoy watching birds and waves, picking up shells, and building sandcastles on the beach. There are many fun things to do nearby the beach such as Ferris wheel rides, boat cruises, and bike rides. Newport Beach has many restaurants that offer delicious and diverse food, some of which are open 24 hours. During summer or weekends, the beach is very crowded so it's difficult to find parking spaces.

RIP to my Audi TT (2020-2024) I had fun adventures with you. You will be missed

I enjoy driving out here to get away and feel the ocean breeze. The pier shows gorgeous views of the coastline and you can stroll on the boardwalk and even rent a bike if you wanted to. I also appreciate the fact that it's less crowded than Huntington. Newport, you have a special place in my heart

This is a very clean pier with a small boardwalk and beach area. There is a lot of parking, but it gets full by 9am, so make sure you come earlier. We paid about $3 for 2 hours of parking. The pier itself gives you a gorgeous view of the beach. There were a lot of people fishing off the sides of the pier. There are also a few gift shops, restaurants, and rentals for bikes. There are areas to rinse off after going into the sandy areas and public bathrooms. This is a great place to go walking, jogging, or cycling as there is a little road alongside the beach, which is typical of California.

Traveled to San Diego from LA and decided to stop here on our way back. There's a decent amount of parking space available. Great spot to stop for a lunch break and perfect for renting a bike to go up and down the coast. It wasn't as crowded so it was very enjoyable. We got electric bikes and went along the entire beach line all the way up to the jetty view point. Overall, nice pier and would stop here again.

Surfers waiting for that perfect wave!

Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a peaceful hidden gem tucked inside California State…read moreUniversity, Long Beach. I walked into a space that is smaller than some larger Japanese gardens, but the layout feels carefully planned with winding paths, traditional landscaping, a koi pond, waterfalls, bridges, and quiet corners throughout. It is the type of place where taking your time matters more than trying to see everything quickly, and the smaller size actually makes the experience feel more intimate. The garden feels like a world apart from the campus surrounding it, and the transition from the university grounds to the garden is immediate and effective. The koi pond is easily the centerpiece of the garden and one of the most enjoyable parts to spend time around. I found myself lingering by the water, watching the fish move through the pond as the sunlight filtered through the trees. The fish are large and active, and the surrounding greenery, stone features, and water elements create a very relaxing atmosphere. The garden does a good job balancing natural scenery with traditional Japanese design, with each section offering a slightly different view and feeling as I walked through. The bridges and stone lanterns add to the sense of place, and the sound of the waterfalls creates a calming background that stays with you as you move through the space. What I liked most about this garden is how calm it feels despite being located on a college campus. It feels separated from the surrounding area once you enter, making it a nice place for a quiet walk, photography, or just taking a break. The landscaping is well maintained, and the entire space has a slower pace that encourages you to actually stop and appreciate the details rather than rushing through. The garden's design rewards a slow approach, with each turn in the path offering a slightly different perspective on the pond, the plants, and the stonework. The visit is fairly quick since the garden is compact, but it works well as a relaxing stop rather than a destination that takes up an entire afternoon. Reservations are required, so it is worth checking availability before going. Admission is free, although parking is an extra cost and can be the main inconvenience, especially during busy campus hours. The garden's location on campus makes it accessible, but the parking situation can require a bit of patience. Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a beautiful spot if you are looking for a peaceful escape rather than a large attraction. The koi pond, thoughtful design, and quiet atmosphere make it a place worth visiting, especially on a nice day when you can take your time walking through the garden. It offers a brief but meaningful pause from the surrounding city and campus life, and the care that has gone into maintaining the space is evident in every corner.
