I love this place. I've only been once but I can't wait to go back. It's a small place with lots of character and a menu with loads of choices. My brother ordered a hot chicken sandwich. It looked so good, I was envious watching him eating it so I tasted the gravy and was blown away by how good it was. He said it was the best hot chicken he's ever had. It had a loads of chicken in it and as I said the sauce was out of this world and it was served with hand cut fries and veggies. My mother and I split a club sandwich that was also super delish. I've driven by this place 1000 times and I always thought it was just a pizza place but it's so much more. Speaking of which they have an extensive pizza menu. Service was excellent.

I was treated to this restaurant for lunch by a new friend who is currently living in Ottawa. It was pretty cool to meet up with him at the 2016 Ottawa marathon race weekend. First things first, It's kind of weird and fun to point out that this place is associated with Elvis Presley, as the sign on the wall of the outside of the restaurant proclaims. Another sign says that they make the world's greatest pizza ever, a claim that's really bold and sometimes controversial. Maybe Canada's best or Ottawa's best, but there was some debate as to what is really world's best, especially compared to Rome, Italy and various places in the United States (i.e. Chicago and New York, of course). My new friend from Ottawa had suggested this place and I was like, okay, what's better than pizza? Off we went. This place was about a 10 minute drive from the Shaw Centre, so that's not too bad. We arrived here around 12:15pm and it was not really busy. Better for us, since we didn't wait too long. The overall experience here was good, positive, but average. Did like the ambiance of a good ol fashion diner with good service. It was casual and quiet comfortable. We ended up sitting in the back with the many photos on the wall. The Newport restaurant is located at 322 Churchill Avenue North in Ottawa. It's a simple restaurant and/or diner in a residential neighborhood type setting. Parking can be simple here, street parking where you can find it. I'm pretty sure that there's public transit service going through here, but I'm a tourist here and it's nice to be able to have a car. There's always Uber to take you around. They accept major credit cards, so that's a good deal to have. They somehow are an authority on best pizza ever, so we decided to do just that. Prices here were decent enough to where we just split a Medium pizza and I ordered medium fries / potato wedges for good measure. Id like to think that those fries were cooked just for me. They were really good, complete with ketchup all over the place, just kind of like hitting the spot kind of good. Definitely satisfying after a few days of sightseeing in Ottawa. My time here at the Newport restaurant was brief, probably at most an hour or so for a nice lunch with a new friend. The server was very nice and we made small talk about the weather and it lead to conversation about running the marathon the next morning. It was fun that way. Even at the table further away, we overheard these older ladies about tomorrow's marathon and how it was going to be warm to borderline hot. What got me was that one of the ladies said "how far is a marathon?". I wanted to get up and say something, but I just let it go. I forgot to take photos of the menu, so I don't know what we ordered. I did take a photo of the pizza and the French fries; so that's some redeeming quality. For what it's worth, the pizza was good and delicious, but not sure if it measures up to "world's best", as they are claiming. The cheese on the pizza was satisfying and it just oozes with perfection in your mouth. The fries, as aforementioned before, was great and it's not fast food French fries you normally see at McDonald's or Burger King. I do love these types of French fries / potato wedges. The overall experience here was - as decent as they come. The restaurant itself was clean and had some bits of homespun charm and personality I've seen elsewhere in America. If you love pizza as much as the next guy, feel free to check this place out and make your own decision whether or not this place serves up the world's best pizza. While the pizza my friend and I did have was delicious, I probably would rate the pizza itself as a 4 out of 5 stars. Not the world's best, but it was the best for that day. 4.5 stars for the entire experience. Support local! B+

Newport rocks! Thin crust, crispy on bottom and equally crispy on top, generous toppings, definitely one of Ottawa's best. The service was great, they were super friendly and welcoming.

Pizza was great as well as the service, the only downside is the facility is in need of some serious renovations

This is your typical greasy spoon. Breakfast is okay (not great), but their pizza is delicious!

The restaurant is cuter inside than I thought. There are some window seats for people-watching on bank st. There are also some hanging lights by the windows. The pizza crust has the perfect crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside texture. It's so good it doesn't even need any dip. I tried both the nerd pizza and the mushroom pizza. The nerd pizza had pickled onions, black pepper molasses bacon, cheese and chili Basil honey. I loved the tangy pickled onions, with the salty-sweet bacon, and the spicy honey. The combination was just perfection. I could use a little more chili though! The mushroom pizza was a white pizza with portobello mushrooms, parm, and truffle oil. The salty parm and the meaty portebello mushrooms were a good combo, but I didn't really taste any truffle oil. I felt like this pizza was good but missing a little something to take it to the next level. Overall, the food was delicious. The drinks are reasonably priced (beer, local kombucha). However, the service was mediocre. I think they only had one or two servers working the entire area on Friday night.

Ordered 2 of their rotating menu pizzas tonight and was not disappointed. I'm not the type to…read moredeviate from my usual order once I find something I like, but I'm glad I did. The pizzas were light, airy and packed a lot of flavour into each bite. Super full now and I regret nothing

I live really close by but for some reason have never tried Georgie's until recently. I got some…read moretakeout for my husband and I to share. I got a Hot Turkey sandwich platter $13.75 and a slice of Donair pizza $4. They sell pizzas by the slice, but they are not displayed so you have to ask them what kinds they have. The day I went, if I remember correctly, they had 4 types: Cheese, Pepperoni, Bacon and Donair. Slices are $4 each or $5 with a can of pop. 2 slices is $8 or $9 with a can of pop, so no discount if you buy more. However, they do have a pickup discount, which is the equivalent amount to the taxes you would pay. So essentially if you pick up, they pay the tax :) The Hot Turkey sandwich platter was really good. It came with fries and coleslaw. I liked that the coleslaw was vinegar based and not mayo based. It was mostly cabbage with a bit of carrot. I enjoyed it. The fries were just regular fries but they were crispy and good. The sandwich had real turkey breast meat in it (can you believe that I once ordered a hot turkey sandwich and it was a deli meat turkey sandwich covered in gravy?!? Obviously not at this restaurant, lol). The bread was the regular white sandwich bread, but what really set this sandwich apart was the delicious peppery gravy. Man, that stuff is really good! The pizza was good too. They put toppings under the cheese here, which is not my preference, but I still enjoyed it. The donair was thick pieces and tasted more like sausage, but it was still good. The sauce has a distinct flavour to it, which I can't pinpoint, but I liked it. The crust was crispy and even though the crust was thicker than I usually like, I still enjoyed it. I liked that the slice came in a cute cardboard box. The platter came in an aluminum container, but the lid was styrofoam. I'm not a fan of styrofoam, I would have preferred a foil-backed cardboard lid. Service was friendly and I got my food pretty quickly. The restaurant is a strip of businesses along Carling Ave just west of Churchill Ave N. There's free parking at the back of the strip. There's a sign and you have to turn in before you actually see the strip of businesses (Georgie's, Sapporo Sushi, and a few other businesses). If you turn into the parking lot after the strip, that one actually belongs to a different strip mall (the one with Markie's Smoked Meat and Mr. Sub). There are signs indicating you can only park there if you are going to a business in that strip mall. Not sure what enforcement is like, but why chance it if there's also free parking in the proper place, right? Since there's a huge median along this part of Carling Ave, you can only access the restaurant if you are driving westbound on Carling. Georgie's has its main entrance on Carling but there's also a back entrance from the parking lot.

Simply put...AWESOME PIZZA…read more I have ordered from here a few times and I'm embarrassed to say I neglected to review each time before now, I was typically so hungry I just jumped right in... alas I digress. I have had a few different types of pizzas here, in the end my favourite is the cheese. Yup, straight cheese. Seems basic, but the flavour is outstanding and the dough ball to keep the box from sticking to the cheese is a classically delicious touch. I really like the flavour combinations of the cheese with the sauce puts many other to shame. If you are in this end of the town, give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed. I'll be back for sure.
