I have been a patient of Dr. Darush for over 20 years. The filler in my upper lip was performed exclusively by him during that time, which is why I scheduled an appointment with him to dissolve my lip filler. I arrived on time for my appointment. Upon arrival, Dr. Darush seemed different than usual and appeared somewhat distracted. During my appointment, he received a phone call on his personal cell phone and answered it. He then told me he needed to step outside to the parking lot. At that time, I had already been numbed and was waiting for the procedure to begin. Approximately 30 minutes passed while I remained in the treatment room. I became increasingly concerned and uncomfortable due to the length of time he was gone and the lack of explanation. I came out of the room to request a refund because I no longer felt comfortable proceeding. Each time I came out, the nurse urgently told me that he would be back soon and repeatedly instructed me to return to the room. Her reaction made me feel even more uneasy, as I felt she was trying to prevent me from going out to the parking lot. When Dr. Darush eventually returned, his demeanor seemed completely different. He appeared upbeat and said, "Okay, let's do it!" He also returned with an unfamiliar man who remained in the waiting room. I did not know who this individual was, and his presence added to my discomfort. At that point, I told Dr. Darush that I no longer felt comfortable having him perform the procedure. I explained that his leaving for an extended period of time, combined with the circumstances surrounding his return, caused me to question whether I could trust him to perform a medical procedure on me safely. In response, Dr. Darush said, "I don't do drugs like you do." I was shocked by this statement. I do not use drugs and do not drink alcohol. I felt this comment was inappropriate, accusatory, and extremely concerning coming from a physician. After this interaction, I no longer felt that I could trust Dr. Darush to perform any procedure on me. I requested a refund, and he left the area, brought the same individual from the waiting room, and took him into a back office area that was not a medical treatment room. I cannot say what was happening, but the entire experience was extremely concerning and made me feel unsafe. Given the circumstances, I believe this behavior warrants review. I am considering reporting this incident to the medical board because I am concerned about whether Dr. Darush is currently able to safely and professionally provide medical care to patients. read more

I been going to their Encino location for 4 years to get laser hair removal. I usually get my sideburns laser, the nurse went all the way down to my cheek where I has some peach fuzz ( An area I didn't ask) so when the hair grew back it grew back thick and now I look like I have a beard. I called to see what they could do for me and they took 0 accountably and said I could have grabbed a pencil to mark the area, when I was never given the option to do it. DONT trust your Nurse to know what she doing, because she should have been trained that going over thin hair can make it thicker and like said the company takes 0 accountability for their nurses mistakes. I found another laser specialist, who's been featured on ABC eyewitness news a few times, to help me with my sunspot. Dr. Dishakjian from Nu Vela Laser & Vein Center, treated my sunspot and after 1 IPL session my sunspot is barely noticeable. Also, after going to Dr. Dishakjian, I realized how overpriced Dr. Darush is. Dr. Darush charges $300 for one sunspot with $0 consultation fee, while Dr. Dishakjian charges $150 for one sunspot, including a $75 consultation fee. The reason I didn't go to Dr. Dishakjian first was because I was worried about losing the consultation fee. However, I shouldn't have been because Dr. Dishakjian is extremely knowledgeable with laser and treating sunspots. He will find a way to help you. I like that Dr. Dishakjian practices in a hospital, too. Doing so hones his skills and keep him up-to-date with the latest in industry. Most of my favorite doctors--kids' pediatrician, primary, ob-gyn, allergist, etc--practice privately while working in hospitals or are teaching professors. Unfortunately, Dr. Darush just splits his time between his two offices (even then time management is poor and you end up waiting forever to see him because his offices overbook him constantly). On that note, the waiting time at Nu Vela was about 10 minutes. I had to come in an hour before my appointment to apply the numbing cream but I was able to spend that hour at home (or elsewhere if I chose). When I came back near the end of my hour, I waited about 10 minutes before being called in. I really appreciated their professionalism and keeping patient appointments because I had to get home to put my kids to bed. The office worked with me and my kids' schedule to get my treatment done. I was able to pickup my daughter in time, get the numbing cream applied, drop off my daughter and feed her dinner, then come back for my treatment, and get home to put my kids to bed. The waiting time at Dr. Darush's office was terrible! I was always waiting 1-1.5hrs before being called back. The last time I couldn't even see the doctor because after an hour waiting, I couldn't wait any longer and had to leave to pick up my daughter (I'd even made gotten a babysitter for my 6 month old, so I could make my appointment with Dr. Darush). I was extremely upset about the poor office management and lack of patient courtesy. read more

I went to this place because their office in Simi Valley looks beautiful. Unfortunately the Simi location wasn't open the day I wanted to go in for my procedure so I opted for the Northridge location. After a quick google maps search I was a bit taken aback, as this building was nowhere near as nice as the one in Simi. I paid this no mind as they have decent reviews. On the day of my appointment, a Thursday at 130pm, I get to the office and it's nowhere near as clean or spacious as the other location. I had to ask to make sure it was the same doctor as Simi. I get taken to my room a few minutes after 130. I hear one of the receptionists say she's paged the doctor (this tells me he isn't even there for his appointments). While waiting, I see two dark red splash like marks on the floor that look a lot like blood. Around 155 I go out (to a waiting room FULL of people) to ask if it will be much longer. They say they've paged him and are waiting to hear back. The girl comes in a few minutes after 2pm and says he is in Valencia and should be in in about another 20 minutes. I ended up walking out about 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time because my time is JUST AS valuable as Dr. Darush's. read more

I started coming here a couple of years ago for Botox because the price was right and the offices were in the valley. I was kind of nervous to deal with Dr. Darush at first because I didn't want to hear criticism about other areas of my appearance that I couldn't afford to treat. I think that's a method to make you feel disempowered and buy more services. Don't fall for it. Accept that fact that aging is inevitable. Know what you can afford and what your goal is and stick to a plan. But anyway, I was also afraid of the up-sell from either the doctor or his staff. But that didn't happen. The doctor was really pleasant. He has a way of injecting that causes very little discomfort and the entire procedure was more tolerable than I expected. And the results, well that's why I was there right? He asked what I wanted. I said I wanted my frown to go away but not look frozen. That's exactly what I got. Look, I hate to age but I think that frozen unemotional face looks scary. Since I don't want to look freakish, I just want to soften the effects of aging. That's what I got: my frown went away for a few months. I was completely satisfied with the results and I came back. Then one time they called me and said they were having a special offer. I think it was $8 a unit instead of the usual $9. I really don't remember, but it was a discount. I booked immediately. Now that I've been out of work for so long, I'm afraid the stress is showing in my attitude and my face. Wish they would call me now and offer a discount but, honestly, I probably would wait until I got a job again before I returned. I have seen Dr Darush for botox for 5 years now. i recently decided to see him for my other medical needs, since he takes my insurance. He told me about Victoza for weight loss. He said it works really well for people who are not diabetic. Since I have been in my 40's its way harder to lose weight. I eat healthy and workout 4 days a week, but can barely lose weight. I started the Victoza 2 weeks and 2 days ago, and have already lost 4 pounds! It makes me have no appetite, and when I do eat I am stuffed on a lean cusine! I love it! I hope to stay on it at least 2 or 3 months. Dr Darush takes his time with all his patients, and he truly cares. I love that I can see him for so many different services too. Came to pick up latisse. No appointment was necessary. You fill out a form and are handed your boxes right at the reception desk. So very little discourse and no doctor or nurse consultation (maybe one of the girls was a nurse, but she didn't identify herself as such and nurses normally aren't out front). Down side was that their latisse boxes had an expiration date 5 months out. Still valid but I've never gotten a latisse box with an expiration date within a year. I asked if they have ones with later expiration dates and I was told no. So check your boxes before you leave in case they have boxes that expire even earlier. I have checked out several other places before I stumbled upon Dr. Darush and his staff at Newskin Laser Center. Everytime I go, the staff are very friendly, knowledgable and quite accommodating. Dr. Darush's non-invasive procedures are a dream come true for most of us and his work is the best I have seen. He is calm, respectful, knowledgeable and honest about his recommendations. He is always on the conservative side and recommends less than anticipated. Prices are great and call for their monthly specials. Best ever! They deserve 10 stars! Here is why: Free and easy parking lot availability! Seriously don't u get annoyed that every where u go these days u have to pay another $3-20 for parking? The staff: unpretentious, helpful and knowledgable. Norma is great! The doctor: Yes, seeing the doctor Vs. A nurse or PA. Dr Daroosh has great manners and actually listens and discusses ur course of treatment, suggests alternatives that are less expensive and/or more effective. All without an eye on his watch! The cost: very reasonable without giving up on quality. Which in my case meant I actually got more units of Botox for less I have paid other places. The wait time: not even 5 minutes! This is one of my biggest pet peeves I give a 30-40 minutes window for wait time b/c I understand doctors have emergencies that come up in their patient care. Dr. Darush continues to amaze! I came in for a PDO thread lift and cannot be any happier. I am 40+ and my face was beginning to look tired and I had that triangle look to my face.
