No, you are not going to be pampered à la David Witchell, however, you will get a little more time for the pedicure/manicure, they may even strike up a conversation with you, etc. The saloon is clean, although not sparkling, and by no meals an oasis. There is a lot of chatting, but that seems to give this salon a slightly more upbeat vibe. They accept walk-ins and it's inexpensive. On a comical note, Newtown has at least a dozen nail salons in the vicinity, so by no means will you ever have to go sans a pedicure. :) And yes, guys, men go here too. After making an appointment, I still had to wait another 25 minutes. The lady responded rudely when I asked how much longer the wait was in an aggressive tone. Next, the lady who was doing my nails RIPPED off my old acrylics which was very unpleasant. She did my nails very quick and was in a rush. She also didn't say one word to me the entire time. Afterwards, the nail job was not impressive and my nails were uneven and a little bit of polish on my skin. Overall, definitely not coming back. read more

I really wanted this to be a good experience because the person that recommended me is a very good friend and sweet lady. Unfortunately it was bad all around. I came as a walk-in but there was only one other person in a pedicure chair so they took me. I had to ask my text three times what her name was by the way she spoke perfect English. She did not ever answer me about her name nor did she ask me mine not that that's a big deal. I also selected a color which she probably walked over to a strange box of gels that I've never seen the brand before, so it was not OPI like I asked for. Getting a mani-pedi is a real treat for me I do not spend that money on myself often, so when I do expect a level professionalism and kindness. I know that everyone is out there on the hustle making money and working hard just to live. And usually I show others a great deal of respect at their workplace, but today spending money on this horrible quality gel manicure and spending $55 well actually it really enrage me beware of this business they do not seem to care about quality. I went here for the first time last weekend. This place is very dark inside but pretty. The manicurist on the other hand was awful. She was rough. She actually filed my skin. My fingers still hurt. I had gel but asked for regular manicure. There was very little nail prep so the polish looks awful. She barely touched my cuticles. By far the WORST manicure I have ever had. Everyone is friendly, professional, and careful. Over the past 5+ years I've been getting manicures and pedicures from all the ladies, and each one is terrific. In response to the comment someone made about the ladies speaking in "their language," I must disagree. I find that everyone speaks English competently and makes their customers feel at ease. Not pleased at all, avoid at all costs!!!! The lady who was doing my nails rushed and was done my pedicure in less than 15 minutes. The water was cold and when I asked her to make it hotter she rolled her eyes and made it slightly warmer. I went here for a manicure and the one I received was terrible. The technician spent maybe 10 minutes on the manicure, start to finish. My cuticles are in worse shape than when I went in and I have excess polish on every single one of my fingers/on the skin surrounding my nails. I tipped 50% and it made no difference. Gel nail polishes are very disorganized as soon as you walk in. And I've never been so rushed in a nail salon before! It's one thing to be fast and efficient but when they're just going as fast as humanly possible to get you out and not caring about the quality of the job, it's not appealing at all. I love this place. My favorite manicurist is Jay. I am in a lot of pain and require the water cool and need several other things adjusted. When I asked, she smiled genuinely and said it is no problem, whatever it takes to make you comfortable. She actually meant it. Who does that anymore? She remembered from the first time what I need to be comfortable, which makes all of my experiences with her so very pleasant. Jay is a wonderful listener and she is also a great conversationalist. I look forward to coming to see her because I know when I leave I will be in a much better place. The services I have gotten from her have all been done well. I have come in with issues having nothing to do with the salon, which was the reason I first came in the door. She made everything better right away. My nails look great and my skin is smooth. The gel manicure has lasted up to 4 weeks, but I really cannot make it that long because my nails grow too long by then, now that she has strengthened them. All of the women who work here have been very pleasant, they smile and say hello when I come in. If Jay is finishing up with someone, another clinician will start the water for my pedicure, seat me, and hand me the polish colors. They may also put the polish remover on my fingers right away, so it can soak. This is a rare occurrence, she is usually on time, but sometimes a customer will request another service at the last minute. She always asks if this is okay with me first. The other workers there help each other if needed and they work together well. I see them cleaning up and disinfecting things after customers leave. read more

My friend scheduled a manicure and pedicure at 1:30 for 2 this past Saturday. We went in together at about 1:25 and they sat her right away for a pedicure while I waited for a pecidure chair to open up. They sat two people who came in after me in the pedicure chairs. I thought this was bad customer service being I did have an appointment. They did a great job, but for this being my first time the service left little to be desired. My friend had to end up waiting 15 minutes or so for me because it took them a while to seat me. I am not sure if the others had an appintment or were regulars (that shouldn't matter when someone has an appointment and/or was there first) and they thought I was a walk in or what... but there seemed to be confusion being no one was at the front desk. The employees would be at their tables in the middle of someone elses manicure telling those in the waiting area that it would be a few more minutes and to have a seat. Better care should be taken care of those who make appointments, but no one seemed to be paying attention and everyone was treated like a walk in and no one checked the book.
