Called ahead as I am eligible for trade-in for $1100 17pro as a long time customer. Only catch (as per Verizon billing and website) is I need to upgrade to Ultimate plan (additional $10/mo for 36 months) or my trade-in will be devalued by $360. I mentioned the need to upgrade to the Ultimate Plan and was told there is a Black Friday special and the upgrade in service is unnecessary unless I really need/want it. I was told to take my old phone with me and bring it back within 30 days as my trade-in ... and that I may see one monthly phone cost on my bill which will be reversed when the phone is traded in. "Things" (including the LIST price and "Activation Fee" reading "Pro Setup" on the invoice seemed a bit suspicious which was made clearer when I saw an additional $40 activation fee on my Verizon account online. Went to a Verizon COMPANY store this AM and they had me call Verizon Customer Service ... long story short the order which was submitted has NO TRADE-IN and the "authorized Verizon retailer" just tried to get away with selling me (and apparently reaping the commission) on a full-price phone ... and Verizon corporate will now void that sale, send me a new 17pro phone for me to set up by myself after which I can return this currently 1-day-old 17pro to Newtown (and expect to be faced with a $50 restocking fee which Verizon promises to reimburse) ... and then bring my trade-in to a company store. What I learned ... (1) Jay at Newtown appears to be unethical (there were too many "assurances" for this to have been a simple employee "error"). 2. Verizon corporate will take care of their customers (though, should this happen to you, expect to spend MANY hours on the phone with one or more reps through this multi-step process). 3. Leaving a review on the Newtown store's website appears to be deactivated (though scrolling over an online link with the cursor reports an "unrealistic" 4.9 rating over 920 reviews!) . 4. As a college statistics professor, this will make an interesting case study for my students (though I will be careful not to identify the salesperson by name). Buyer beware. This store may "work" for customers looking to reap free phones for switching carriers and multiple lines but current Verizon customers should avoid it at all costs. read more

Terrible customer service. Employees ignore customers when they come in. They will leave you standing there and never acknowledge your presence. How hard is it to say "thanks for coming in, we will be with you shortly"? I left and then went back 2 weeks later for a new phone. Employee never bothered explaining the models available and simply tried to pass off a inferior model to what I currently had because they didn't have any stock. I walked out again and passed a young man who had been standing there for at least 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging him! I will never go back. Phones cost too much money to have lazy employees ignore you and not provide any customer service. You have been warned! Find another store. This local Verizon Wireless shop recently opened, and it is likely they are still working out many kinks associated with any new operation. Still, I found their willingness to fully engage the customer on the issues important to the phone/service buyer, ie., selecting a new phone, changing the SIM card from a foreign phone for use in the USA, selecting the right plan when five phones are involved, and working through all the set up requirements on the equipment (even in Chinese), was quite amazing. Props to Derek who went above and beyond the call in spending at least 90 minutes with us as we worked through these issues. He never lost his cool, and remained open and inventive as one roadblock after another was deciphered and overcome. This wireless phone business is not easy for most of us, and we all know that it has become increasing expensive with every passing year. It is almost as if the next step in this industry is for private consultants to begin to offer analysis of need and service availability across the spectrum of alternatives and point us in the right direction, if not complete the transactions for us, and get paid by the phone companies for bringing customers to them. Until that day arrives, it is fortunate we now have a local shop with knowledgeable and willing service folk who can at least provide that kind of insight for their own company's line of product and services. We definitely felt that Derek was doing his best to listen to us, and respond with suitable alternatives. These circumstances are never "Wahoo" moments. But, I am certainly a true fan of the effort I saw today. read more

They sold me a Jet pack to use at our summer home. We needed something for we had limited internet service there. I said I needed unlimited and power to stream movies. They said this would do it. So I spent $264.00 and $80/month. Three days of using it (and it worked great) till it slowed down to the point it didn't work half the time. Then we got this email: Your VZ JETPACK 4G LTE MHS AC791L with mobile number ending in $&@? has reached its 15 GB high-speed Mobile Hotspot allowance. Your monthly data allowance will reset on the 8th with your next billing cycle. What happens now? Your Mobile Hotspot data speed has been reduced, so you'll get up to 600 Kbps for the rest of the Bill cycle. So I called Verizon directly and they told me I was sold a bill of goods. That I should never been told that this would work for streaming movies. That that's not what this is used for. So then I took it back to the store and showed the salesman the email. He said to me I should've read on the Internet before I came to the store to buy it and it was my responsibility to get my facts straight. When I told him that was his job, he got annoyed with me. I believe he just wanted to sell the product because he sure didn't give me any of the information that he admitted to knowing about. Thank God I did not go with the 2 year contract. This has been a nightmare 24 hrs. 1. I went into the store at 3:30pm when the store closes at 5pm on Sunday I asked if they could transfer my contacts and photos from my old phone to a new phone. The young man told me it would take more then two hours to come back at 10am in the morning... fine 2. I come in Monday at 10am first customer the guy tells me about an hour and a half. Puts my phone on his desk and tells me I can wait or come back so I decided to come back meanwhile I see my phones sitting there as he moves onto the next customer. I left a phone number for him to call me when it's done or any issues 3. About 12pm no word so I'm I run down there for him to tell me something is locked and has not be started. I asked why he didn't call me and he said he was too busy... so he tells me it won't take long. I asked what that meant in minutes he told me it will be done by 1:20pm. Come back at 1:25pm. Still not done he said it could be another 15-25 minutes so I asked why he didn't call me to tell me to wait to head down there so I'm not just sitting there his excuse was he is human. So I asked to speak with a manger who didn't not care at all saying we are doing you a free service. Excuse me! I pay my bills on time so you can have a job. As I sat there waiting a elderly man came in asking for some tech help. Meanwhile no other customers were in the store. The manager did help him but with an attitude I have never heard. This man had just brought a phone from them and they were trying to get him to call the tech support instead of spending the 20 minutes to show him. I was disgusted and will NEVER go back to this store. They should be ashamed of how they treat there customers who are putting food on there tables. read more

Jay called 90 minutes later once the new phone arrived. After returning to the store, the entire process took 30 minutes including transfer of data from old phone. After all my years of going into Verizon wireless stores, this store by far beats them all. After two years, my Samsung Galaxy phone wasn't staying charged so I decided to upgrade. Went into this store and Gary, the manager, was very knowledgeable and explained each and every Samsung phone. After a long process, I decided to purchase the Galaxy 10e and have been so impressed and love every feature. Every question I had, I went back in and the staff has always been so helpful. Also they have a lot of accessories in stock so no need to shop around. Anyone in the Newtown area that needs a new Verizon cellular product, visit the Sycamore Street location. Wow! Complete incompetence! Parteek helped me Thursday to purchase a cell phone for my daughters birthday. He promised me that if they ordered it they would receive Saturday. Saturday they told me it wouldn't be there till Wednesday. But he knew we would be away and that we wouldn't be around to get the phone. So we go in to return the case and screen and phone deposit so we could go somewhere else. But alas Gene who was on duty told us he didn't care about our dilemma and didn't care we weren't satisfied. I went to this store today to get my screen protector replace. It cracked and shards of glass would get stuck in my finger when I swiped the screen. The store clerk stated that I dropped it and that why it crack. This is not true. It started to chip and peel and the more iI use it the worst it got. He was basically was calling me a liar. He took it off and try to sell me a new one that was the same model. I said I didn't want that model and he said that is what they recommended. I left with no screen protector and was out $24.99.
