I needed help while purchasing many Light Bulbs. Will T. was kind and patient with me as he found the correct replacements for over five old bulbs I had that I needed multiple bulbs for. He showed me the chart in the bulb section, but then went further and found the correct replacements for the bulbs. All the bulbs worked when I got home. DONT SHOP HERE. Life long customer before it was Ace. Today I went in to buy Pool chlorine, and it was clearly marked $149.99. It wrung up 179.99. I took the clerk to the display. It was 149.99. He takes the price tag off and then goes into the corner (on the floor) and finds one the say 179.99. You literally have to lay on the floor to see it while the one clearly marked was in full display. The clerk said he could change it but had to call the manager. The manager comes out and verifies everything and says he can't override it (blatant lie). Btw, go in the store and you'll see items not even marked (generic weed b gone). This isn't the first time something wrung up wrong but I ignored it. After 10 years I will never step foot in there again. Why? Everyone makes a mistake but being rude and lying are choices. read more

I 've been living in New Hope for 5 years, and I honestly can't believe I'm going to the same shop as some of the reviewers on this site. It's a small store, but has a great selection nonetheless and I've always found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable. They will happily discuss projects and the best solution to any hardware issues that you have. Yes, they are more expensive than the bigger stores like Lowes and Home Depot, but time and money saved in buying locally more than makes up for this in my personal view. Saves about an hour's travel there and back, so paying a couple of cents/dollars more makes a lot of sense to me. They also tolerate my "Britishisms" like calling a wrench a spanner and help with metric to imperial conversions. I would definitely recommend. read more

Staff is rude. Selection is very very limited and over priced. Closes at 6. Store closes earlier then every other store in the shopping center. They blame it on covid. I guess you cannot get covid from 8 to 6 but you can get it after 6. People work, you should be open to serve your community. They close at 5 on Saturday. If you want backers hours you should have been a bank. Do not waste your time coming here. read more

Most times I shop here, when you encounter the people at check out, they seem to be so strained in order to help you or ring you out. Much attitude that is not something you wish to be part of. Yesterday, I went in to take a pool water sample to have tested. I was told no one was there for that and to come back tomorrow. What part of the day, I questioned! Any time, was the reply. So, at 12:30 today, I came back with the water sample. Again, no one is here, their reply. I told her that I was told to come back. Well, he was here in the morning. No apology. Just a kind of matter of fact, that's how it is. I have always prided myself by shopping and supporting New Hope, since I live here. I have lived in nearby Lambertville for over 40 years, so I was interested to read the reviews, almost all of which are over 5 years old. First, I want to say that I have, in the past, agreed about the lack of friendliness at the checkout. But a staff member is no longer there, and everyone I have worked with since has been pleasant, and helpful. To those who gripe about higher prices, I wonder if you mind paying more for a cafe latte at a specialty shop compared to cheaper at Wawa? My point is, Delray is a convenience hardware store that is well stocked with everything from housewares to paint to hardware. You always pay more for convenience. Finkles and Niece Lumber in Lambertville close earlier than 6 pm, so Delray is helping in that regard. So you can 'plan ahead' or drive the 15 min to the box store. AND, they are located near a pharmacy, grocery store, card & gift shop, gym, hoagie shop.... so you save by not driving from one place to another, and the money saved should cover any financial concerns. I wrote this review so that other readers will have another point of view. I like having Delray handy, expect some things may be a little higher price, and have found them to be helpful when I bring in a question, or want to figure out how to make an idea happen. I hope readers will stop in and give them a chance to correct the image stated by others here. read more

The people working there are quite miserable and unfriendly it's amazing. Unfortunately I have to go there when the need arises rather than drive 15 miles to Home Depot. I go there at least twice a month and they are consistently rude. If you as them for help or where to find something they act like you're disturbing them. Plus you pay a premium for this treatment. I don't mind paying more, but with a smile please. If the folks who work there read this I hear this complaint from a lot of locals. Just because you're the only game in town isn't an excuse to be rude. read more

I'm new to the area (moved here 2018). Have visited Delray for a variety of things--propane refills, bird seed, hose attachment, sandpaper etc... the staff have always been welcoming and helpful. I prefer to support a locally owned business ( even a franchise such as Tru-Value). Don't mind paying a little more for the convenience and local presence. read more

Very unfriendly. Family business franchise I guess. You can tell when a family member is ringing the register because "they" never say THANK YOU - I look for it every time I shop there. My wife and I laugh about it. If you get a thank you it is from a non family member, a younger person they have hired and not trained in their ways. Been this way for years. I reluctantly visit this location when desperate for an item and don't want to drive 15 min to Home Depot. Would love to give my money to a smaller local business, but these owners don't appreciate it. Quite unusual for a Mom and Pop hardware store. They have a good selection and survive on that and lack of immediate local competition I guess. Shame the miserable older owners have far less manners than the kids they hire. I have mixed feelings about this place. It's the only hardware place in New Hope, so I find myself here whenever I need something small and don't want to haul myself over to Lowes or Home Depot. Whatever you buy here is always between 10-20 percent more than you would somewhere else, but it's a nice place to have around. There is a small handful of friendly faces at the register...everyone else...don't expect a smile from. I used to get offended at the rudeness, but now I chalk it up to these people must just be miserable and that's ok as long as they point me in the aisle I need to be. read more

Good hardware store with a great selection. Common sense would tell you a small hardware store who buys smaller volumes then the big box stores would be a little bit more expensive. The staff has always been nothing but helpful and knows where everything in the store is. Yesterday I stopped to buy 2 bags of rock salt and the cashier walked out after checking me out and carried the bags to my car. I purchased nothing else other than 2 bags of salt and am more then capable to carry the salt to my own vehicle, but this is an example of the customer service difference with a small hardware store vs the large guys. Almost without exception every time I go there I have been treated rudely. The staff especially at the counter are sour-faced, unsmiling and not welcoming to customers. I always feel as though I've just bothered them no matter how simple the transaction. Who thinks that is a good way to run a business? I disagree with Ed. I enjoy shopping at Delray Plus True Value Hardware. They are always more than willing to help me with anything I need or want. I primarily shop there for pet supplies. Marie and all the staff are more than willling to help me while I am there. A couple of years back I showed up a half hour before they opened. I had the wrong time. Mickey let me in, took my special paint order, filled it and I was out of there in less than a half hour. Maybe Ed went in with an attitude of his own. read more

I lived in New Hope for quite a few years and shopped at this store from the day it opened, buying quite a bit of merchandise from these people in spite of what is a pretty lousy selection and bad customer service. They were usually very unfriendly and started following me around the store every time I went in. I guess they thought I was stealing, which could not have been farther from the truth. I make a ton of money and was driving a Lexus so I hardly need to steal from a True Value store. I finally decided they didn't need my business and just drove farther to go to Lowe's and Home Depot. I'm pretty sure that the people who manage this store simply aren't trained to run a little business like this. read more

Except for Mr. Flood, the people who work there are rude, condescending and give you the distinct impression that you are bothering them even if your only interaction is to just pay. Generally they don't look up from their conversation with the other employees much less ask if you found what you were looking for or say good morning, etc. It is a shame that a local store has this attitude. read more

I shop at True Value all the time, for pet supplies and other light hardware items. I hate the bigger hardware type stores and this store is a staple. I've sometimes felt that the staff was a little stiff, some not all, and maybe a little "homey" in terms of who they are pleasant to at checkout and who they just kind of deadpan. Now that they k now me I do not feel that anymore and, they have recently hired a new group of sales people who are very very helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. The water sample scenario is a bit scary and they should probably have a time posted for those types of requests. Can imagine what happened there but...all in all, I really like that store. read more

Despite what people may tell you this place hires people who know a lot about hardware. A lady named Jane helped recommend some stains for my deck and gave me sound advice for sodding my front lawn. Every time I go into the store I hear some person trying to make a big deal about the store not having a certain product and that the employees are at fault. These snotty, pretentious, and all round spoiled people who have infected New Hope know nothing about what they need or how to ask for it in a cordial manner. The staff will always help you, but don't expect them to read your mind when you say "I need something that will fix something". I have seen many a people give vague and unhelpful questions to these people then throw a fit when they are shown the wrong item. I buy dog food here and always order it on Monday. They have what I want, it gets there quickly and I am always going to go here for what I need. You people need to realize that they do not get paid to put up with your shitty attitude, but to help you with your projects and get you what you need. Just a reminder those are people in those uniforms and if you do not treat them as such you need to reconsider a few things. read more
