Of course, in all fairness my friend grew up (from birth) in Newville, and so literally everyone knows him. The food was very decent. I got the prime rib special, which came with 2 sides. I got the side salad and the fries. Their battered fries was delicious. I am a sucker for battered fries. The salad was decent and fresh with the dressing served on the side in a little plastic container. The prime rib was cooked perfectly, but unfortunately overly salty for my taste. The portions were generous, and the prices decent. The atmosphere is laid back and everyone is very friendly. It is packed on a Sunday after church and many tables get lovely sunlight through the windows.

The meatloaf was fair, but I'm not a big fan of chopped meat in any form due to the grease and all the negatives of meat in general, especially chopped meat and chicken. The server was a young woman who initially indicated her displeasure at my asking questions about the slight difference between the online and in restaurant menu (no senior citizen choices in the online version for example and a couple of other differences) she told me they don't like to advertise the senior menu (wow!). I guess that says something about senior citizen business but I'm unsure if it's good or negative. Another surprise came when I asked what the difference was in the number of ribs or weight between 1/4 rack and half rack choices. She to me 1/4 was 2 or 3 ribs and half rack was 2 or 3 as well. I tried to clarify in my head if it was literally by the bone or by weight. She became defensive and I could tell she wasn't happy with my question, drilling for a precise answer not a guess. But again rather than make her more perplexed or more unappreciative of my question I just chalked it up to today's generation and lower schooling on precision than my generation. That changed the relationship for the better and all was fine after. She was attentive to my requests and did a great job bringing everything correctly and the other things like wash n dry type towelettes for the rib eating. The place is located in a busy area. Has a nice, comfortable inside and is clean with plenty of room between tables/booths. It's a comfortable climate with the local country music station playing overhead the tables and booths. After realizing my server and I were from vastly different generations, things went better. I'll be back and I received recommend this establishment.

I was sad to hear they only serve chicken and waffles at breakfast. WHYYY??!!! Please add this to lunch and dinner. Our waitress was on point. Super friendly and refilled the sweet tea before it got halfway. I ordered the famous fried chicken and was pretty happy with the food. The baked potato was fine, it was just on the smaller size (4inches long it was literally the length of my size 6 lady finger). Mac and cheese was good, It did have some black spots but I chalk it up to coming in a 730pm. The roll was bland would not recommend. My fiance ordered the BBQ sandwich and onion rings. He is particular and was also very happy with his food. The other thing I would say is consider changing the hours. Closing at 8pm is insane, at least 4 tables arrived at 745pm! I say this because I know the competition is Martinsburg Family and that is open 24/7 I would reconsider the hours. I'm certain since the food was good you could justify a 10pm closure time but I'm just giving an opinion. I'd still go back.

The table we were seated at was dirty, place wasn't busy, strike 1. Waitress arrived, took our drink orders, and disappeared into the great beyond. When she finally showed up again, hands full of dirty dishes, I quickly said "we're ready to order when you have a minute". I got a look of disgust from her and she replied snappily, "I'll be back in a minute, my hands are full", the welcoming vibe pouring from her pores. I looked at my sister and rolled my eyes, and said something about the 3.5 stars are already giving them credit, as the cleanliness and attitude are not deserving of even that. She must have heard me because when she came back to the table, her sticky sweetness was flowing from her gums. Aside from that, the food was really good. I got a western omelet with wheat toast and home fries, though it was more like hash browns. My sister got 2 eggs over medium, home fries and white toast. The wheat toast was very light in color, I had to check to confirm it was wheat. If you're looking for A good breakfast, I can recommend this place. If you're looking for friendly service, and a spotless table, this isn't for you. Another bonus...you can pay ur bill on your mobile so no need to wait for the waitress to take the payment. Eat, pay, leave! Nice!
