First time visitor because I was looking for chicken and waffles and found them recommended in the book of faces. I wanted to eat this for my birthday don't judge me. I was sad to hear they only serve chicken and waffles at breakfast. WHYYY??!!! Please add this to lunch and dinner. Our waitress was on point. Super friendly and refilled the sweet tea before it got halfway. I ordered the famous fried chicken and was pretty happy with the food. The baked potato was fine, it was just on the smaller size (4inches long it was literally the length of my size 6 lady finger). Mac and cheese was good, It did have some black spots but I chalk it up to coming in a 730pm. The roll was bland would not recommend. My fiance ordered the BBQ sandwich and onion rings. He is particular and was also very happy with his food. The other thing I would say is consider changing the hours. Closing at 8pm is insane, at least 4 tables arrived at 745pm! I say this because I know the competition is Martinsburg Family and that is open 24/7 I would reconsider the hours. I was disappointed , the food was just ok, it wasn't seasoned well th gravy on my dish . The waffle my wife had was hard like a card board like is there buttermilk or something anywhere maybe to save the day. It was dense dry and devoid of flavor . Thank goodness work took me thru Martinsburg today! I always love stopping at local spots. As soon as I pulled up and saw all the locals inside I knew I found a gem. One thing that threw me off was to wait in the small hallway to be seated. Luckily we missed the sign and were seated immediately. Amy came over to take care of us. Walking in you'll see lots of delicious looking desserts you'd want to start with. When I looked at the cute and condensed menu, I wanted the special of the day. Problem was I had to work after lunch so I could go all in. I decided on a grilled cheese with bacon and fries:. Let me tell you. . .. the 1st bite took me back to childhood! They used white bread and American cheese slices. The bread was so crispy I could have soaked it in tomato soup and still got a crunch. Amy also let me order a side of hush puppies I saw headed to someone else's table. This local spot is a must visit! If I was staying in town I would have one back for dinner. Be sure to check out the pie case. One customer told me he only eats the blackberry because it was the best. The place is clean and comfortable. The staff are all very friendly and fast. My husband ordered the double cheeseburger and I got the special baked chicken with mac and cheese and coleslaw. The food was all delicious and super fresh. The coleslaw was the best I've had in 20 years. The prices are also amazing. Definitely will be eating here again. read more

The Olde Country Diner is a local gem. The staff was amazing - welcoming,  super friendly and very effecient. We stopped in late afternoon on a Saturday and they were pretty busy though we were seated right away and did not wait very long for our meals. The menu offers hearty, country-style dishes like chicken fried steak, meatloaf, sandwiches, burgers and homemade pies! If you dont have room for dessert, bring some pie home! My burger was hand forned 1/3 lb on a big soft country bun. It was a little too well done to my liking, but still juicy. Country fried steak was great- crispy outside, tender inside. The salad bar was fresh and well maintained with someone checking on it regularly. Pies all looked delicous! Great food and excellent service. The servers are amazing with how busy the place is. Food is consistently good and arrives quickly. They are so supportive of older and mobility impaired customers which makes our visits much more comfortable for our family. We feel welcomed even if it takes half an hour for our group to reach the table. Four generations of our family go to this restaurant frequently because the food is good and the staff are friendly. When the teenagers come without the adults, they feel at home and really do like the food. So this is a gem! read more

This is our first time dining. It was me and 3 kids. It is very unassuming from the outside, being at the end of an older strip mall, but walk inside to a cozy atmosphere. There are cookies in a jar on the counter and a case with pies. My favorite thing (and biggest surprise) is a clean small salad bar packed with a lot of options. Everything was super fresh and nothing was wilted or brown. We received the food and it was so freaking good. Even my picky eater almost cleaned his plate! They had a lot of options, so your diner favorite is probably here. If you have been here before, give it a shot! We will definitely be back! read more

Salad and soup bar is good. Stay away from the chili, otherwise I think the veggie beef soup is their best. Typical diner food but the plates are a decent value. While on a road trip through WV, Yelpers steered me toward this diner. As I opened the door, I was met by a young man exiting who promptly noticed my patriotic USA t-shirt and gave me a compliment. Now that our flag has been stolen, I wasn't sure how to receive the compliment, so I just said, "Go, USA!" I was seated right away and offered coffee. I desperately needed coffee, but not what was imitating coffee....water with a light brown color. Not sure what it was, but it was not real coffee. The service was fantastic, as well as the prices. Where can you get a traditional breakfast of two eggs, bacon, toast and jellies for under $7? West Virginia. And I'm on a quest for the best French Toast. I didn't find it here, but theirs is tasty with its cinnamon and sugar batter. Five stars for outstanding down-home service and insanely reasonable prices. Service has been great for different times I've been there, very timely. The food has always been good, mostly there for breakfast. Actually the grits improved from times before. Also, they are closed Sunday and Monday, just mentioning to save you the trip on Monday like I did to find out they were closed. Olde Country Diner has the best 4 piece fried chicken dinner in Martinsburg. Also included with the dinner are two sides. I enjoy the sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Was there today . Ordered a bacon cheeseburger. Cost 9 bucks. The burger was smaller then the single burger from McDonalds. They took one piece of bacon and cut it in 3 pieces and put 2 pieces on one side and one on the other If I owned a restaurant I would be ashamed to send this out and charge someone 9 bucks for it. This was a very nice and super clean establishment and it's quite roomy inside. My breakfast tasted worse than hospital food I was expecting some decent local country cooking and I finally asked for hot sauce and just put it all over my food so that there would be a little bit of flavor This was so below average that I don't think I would be willing to give it a second chance, but I just keep thinking that there were people in there eating and most of them seem to be local, so maybe I ordered the wrong thing? read more

The only place in Martinsburg that deserves 5 stars. From the food to the staff this place is excellent. My son and I eat here a few times a month and never have been disappointed. Our go to is the country fried steak and their smothered cabbage and corn pudding is delicious. The Ruben is great also. Wonderful pies and cakes and I'm a Cajun girl so I love my sweet tea and theirs does not disappoint. The girls are so attentive to their table and always make us feel right at home. The outside is very underwhelming but they do make up for it in quality, taste and server personality! We will drive an hour and a half just to eat the food here. The salad bar was tended to so that nothing runs low. Everything was incredibly fresh and the blue cheese dressing is done just right! The chicken fried steak and the schnitzel are both hand breaded and cooked fresh. The gravy is excellent with a generous listing of sides. The yeast rolls are enormous. This is what its listed as a Family diner. Old fashioned, home style food. The diner has that old school look. Its not trying to be modern or trendy. It has its own style. There is adequate seating, whether it is a booth or table. The waitress was very nice, friendly and helpful. I ordered a hamburger and french fries. My burger was pretty tasty. There are desserts, they appear to be home made. I will order something different on my next visit. The lunch menu has a decent amount of selections. The restaurant does good business, especially during the lunch time period. If you want a good home cooked style meal and find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in.
