She stopped what she was doing to take me to where they were. It was a good distance away. I asked another employee, Jess, for help finding Hard Cider. Same thing. Stopping what she was doing just to help me. Finally, the cashier Amanda, went above and beyond to put rubber bands around my cakes, double bagged the heavier groceries then used a Wegman's Card that would save me money. None of these ladies had to go the extra mile. But they did! Hats off to these ladies. I will be going back again!!

The space has had a number of occupants over the years. When we moved to Virginia Beach, it was an A&P. That gave water to a Farm Fresh. Both were long term grocers who eventually went out of business. The space was emptied for a while as Haygood Shopping Center underwent a massive face lift in anticipation of Harris Teeter. Having previously shopped at their store near Sam's Club on Virginia Beach Boulevard I anticipated the opening. But the reality brought a lack of customer service in the spacious store with wide aisles. For years I never considered shopping at Harris Teeter. Lately I've reevaluated that choice. I've found they have my favorite flavor of high protein yogurt. Their produce is fresh & full of flavor. A big plus is their distilled water in the type of container that's easy to maneuver. It's also priced right. Harris Teeter is definitely is a step above a number of the chain grocers in Coastal Virginia. But it's a step below others, lacking the prepared or ready to prepare entrees that make life so much easier. I'm happy I rediscovered Harris Teeter. It's nice to add another store to my shopping mix.

I had my son (19) and daughter (16) with me because we were going to the Dollar Tree next store after. When I proceeded to check out the guy said I need to see ID, no problem I'm 41. The cashier then wants to see the IDs of my kids. I think that's kinda weird, whatever. Then he tells me that I can't make my purchase because underage kids are with me. So I tell him wow you refuse to take $260 dollars from me, you have to be kidding me. I then told him no problem I'll go to the next store down the road. At the next ABC store I go in by myself and told them about what happened and they said "no way kids are allowed in here with their parents we even give them lollipops." I will never shop at that location again.

The store has incredible natural lighting and is spacious with wide aislesI would say it's the second largest floor plan in VB with Hilltop being first. The shop was tidy., I headed straight to the bourbon and was blown away at the selection. This store specializes in bourbon and has a separate area up front for rare varieties. The shelves were loaded! I found several suitable for purchase and was buying gifts too! I was around fourth for checkout and the line moved quickly. Staff was friendly and my card processed without a hitch. If you love bourbon like I do this is a fantastic out of the way gem. Of course they have all your other Spirits too! My friend and I attended a wine class at Total Wine last month and had a great time! The theme of…read morethe class was Sparkling Wine so we were able to taste a wide range of sparkling wine from dry champagnes to proseccos. With this being my first wine class at Total Wine, I was pleasantly surprised by the set up. They offered small bites, charcuterie style, for us to snack on during class and we sat at actual tables, ready to learn and enjoy the wine. Our instructor was amazing! He touched on the regions from which the grapes were produced as well as the different types of champagne and sparkling wine. We sampled about 8 different varieties of wine. Some I enjoyed, others not so much lol. Overall, it was a great event and for $20, you really can't beat it. It has been my go to since I really like the Haygood Shopping Center and it's close proximity to my house. I've had over 15 years experience with this ABC. It's been consistently above average. The store number is #336. Parking is as easy as pulling right up to their front door. A few spots are reserved for curbside pick-up. That's right! Just call the store and they will bring your booze to you! The area is hit or miss on debris in front. If your not doing curbside pick-up I recommend parking a bit further as it's tough to back out with traffic. The store is average size and packs a lot of product. The manager Tiffany is great! Other staff have been typically pretty good as well. I find it's well organized and clean. They receive their truck on Mondays. I've got lucky with obtaining a few allocated bottles of bourbon in the past. Virginia ABC does a fantastic job overall and we are a lucky state to have prices controlled. At the same time inventory is also controlled. It can be a challenge to locate hard to find bottles.

I have had the pleasure of dealing directly with her once on a specific issue that was quickly resolved. They receive their deliveries on Monday morning. I grabbed my 375ml bottle of Absolut and attempted to check out. He took the bottle from me and then said, "You look amazing." I just laughed it off. He kept staring at me, not scanning the product. Super creepy. Then, even worse, he said, "We need to get a drink sometime," and finally scanned it. And I'm convinced he kept screwing with the POS to make my card not read on the device, and he was just eating me up the whole time with his eyes. He restarted the whole transaction again so I could finally pay. Then, he was like, "So, want to get a drink?" and I just walked off with what I bought, laughing it off again. I'm not one for confrontation, I just wanted to get away. He then was like "Oh.... ok." disappointedly. I was super creeped out. This really isn't any way for state employees to treat people. It was just gross. If I'm going to the ABC store, I want to buy their products, not get harassed by their employees. Watch out if you're a lady.
