Also, last year our computer was acting up and running slow so I brought it here. They did a scan of the hard drives and reformatted parts of the storage so that we had more free space (so our computer wouldn't crash every time we needed to do something) and removed some programs we didn't need (after consulting with us first). I had a trade-in quote of $830 for the phone through the Verizon Wireless website. Without looking at the phone, the employee we spoke with said he'd give us $400. I told him about the quote on his company's website, and said, "Perhaps it's a different deal online than in the store. I know that has happened before." I showed him the webpage and the quote for the phone. He took the phone out of my hands and said, "You have to read the fine print. You'll only get $400." My husband is an attorney. We're aware of "fine print," and read through it before entering the storefront. To qualify for the trade-in, we knew we'd have to get the next tier plan on his phone at $10 a month & the phone we were looking at would be free. I took our phone back & asked him to read aloud the amount quoted in the fine print. After he did, I told him we'd be taking our business elsewhere. We've been loyal Verizon customers for more than 20 years, probably longer than that employee has been alive. I'm still upset by his condescending tone.

In turn that leaves our Radio Shack employee more time to look at computer porn, get softer, and worry about what version of andriod is running on your phone. Needless to say this kid did not know too much about what I was looking for. They had some of the stuff, but they are moving away from that kind of thing to cell phones and cameras. Circuitry is what most of our modern world is made of, and remarkably tons of this stuff to interact with circuits is out there waiting to be discovered. It takes some time and I'm a beginner, but it's fascinating to know that you can build almost anything you can think of from off the shelf electronic components. geek out.

Instead we waited for an hour, much of what was spent with staff trying to upsell us to a new phone. When we finally convinced them we just wanted a new battery they said it would be another two hours. They managed to sell us an add-on battery pack ($50) through an uncharacteristically clueless salesperson who did not know that it came with a charging cable or that the cable, when discovered in the packaging, was not compatible with our phone.
