I was informed that the technician injured his shoulder and would not be able to work on a stackable unit and they just realized it last night. When the appointment was made a couple weeks ago they informed us that we needed to make sure that the dryer was not on top of the washer, so they knew then that the unit was a stackable. The biggest part that bothers me is that I had to call them to find out they were not even planning on doing the work. Avoid this company if you want your appliances to be repaired!!!

So I responded with oh I just need to get my ring sized and he complained that there was someone that was already waiting and has to get a bus and that he would have to size my finger and it would take too long so needless to say I will be telling everyone I know not to go here because I've never been treated so rudely and been dismissed. I'd rather spend more money and go somewhere where people are treated like humans. I'm actually disgusted. And I'm not sure if it had anything to do with my race.

The saleswoman sees my engagement ring and rudely says "That diamond is not real. The those diamonds are not real. And the band isn't even gold." Wow! I don't recall how the ring came up to begin with. I didn't say much because I found her attitude to be very off putting and rude. She went and grabbed some black box that helped her see if it was real or fake. As she is looking it she says "well it's real. And the other diamonds are too". But of course, they were bad quality. This is my engagement ring that I have had for almost 30 years and been appraised 3x. I had brought in a bracelet that needed to be repaired, a monogram ring that I was inquiring about changing the monogram on it. And lastly, the whole it's not real debacle, I had brought my engagement ring in to have the prongs tightened. Next I was being told that I should have my ring completely reset with white gold because that's the trend. I had tried a silver basket for my diamond and didn't care for it in the past. Well that became an issue but they did fix it on the spot. Lastly I came back to pick up this bracelet I needed repaired. I had forgotten the tag they gave me and the man moaned and sighed because that meant having to look at each bag. I will not be back. I do love to support local businesses but I felt the staff overstepped their boundaries and were very rude. Not a plane I want to do business with.

So, when I needed a new watch band I came here instead of venturing into Albany. It's located in a newer strip mall with an eclectic array of businesses. Easy parking is a plus. When I walked in, however, my expectations immediately lowered. Entering I noticed a random array of things for sale: scarves, honey (?) other things that you wouldn't expect in a jewelry store: and this isn't an informal or granola, or general store sort of vibe. Lots and lots and lots of light, glass and mirrored cases and an emphasis on bling. My immediate vibe was this is a sales place but not somewhere you'd want to use for watch or heirloom jewelry repair. Think the type of jewelry store you'd find in a low-end mall. I was seeking a leather band replacement for a classic man's watch. The salesman was very nice, but indicated my watch was non-standard size, and required a special order. I've had the watch for 40 years and anywhere I've sought a replacement (leather bands wear out every few years) in upstate New York or on the west coast, the band replacement was considered pedestrian and the jeweler had lots of replacements on hand from which to choose (I have two watches with leather bands -- this has never been an issue before.) Next I was looking at a catalog, and the price was 3x what I last paid for a band (in Nor Cal, btw.) Whatever; my thought was okay, the price of convenience and you are supporting a local business. A few days later I got a call that the band had arrived; I went in the next morning after an appointment downtown and pulled up at 9:55 expecting to wait but the open sign was up and the lights on. I entered and a young salesperson, eating breakfast sandwich, looked up with irritation when I entered and was less than thrilled to need to get up to serve me. I advised her I had called, and she took the watch and sullenly walked off to put the band on. When done she mumbled "do you want the old band?" and then rang me up and gave me a cursory thank you. If you care, not smart to be ungracious when you are working for a small local business and dealing with a polite customer who is obviously a local older professional likely to have disposable income. Perhaps she was having a bad morning or just suffering protein deficiency not having been allowed to finish her breakfast sandwich (btw, in a business you shouldn't be chowing down in the sight of customers -- take it to back room.) I was hoping for a classic, tasteful, old fashioned jewelry store with dependable repairs, like the type you used to find across all upstate New York; I'll head into Albany when I need that type of service I guess. I love that they also deal in vintage items as well as Rolex sales and maintenance. And no brand or need is too small! The watches I wear to work are not particularly fancy but I like them. Sizing, new batteries, etc. Every time I have been here with any type of item I'm very pleased. Including the restoration of the necklace my grandmother wore for her 1952 wedding! I send all my clients here when they mention a need Mayfair Jewelers might be help with and hear glowing reviews from many of them as well.

(Non)-review for optical shop only…read more I'll never know whether they're any good or not, since: I called ahead to determine the hours, was told they were open such and such hours, showed up during such and such hours, and was treated to a closed shop with a sign saying "back at 2 PM", presumably for lunch. That this was not the only optical shop where they failed to mention lunch hours is sort of beside the point, although I'm taking out my frustration here because I had specifically mentioned the hour when I was going to come by and the phone answerer didn't correct me. I suspect this is endemic to places where there's an ophthalmological practice associated with the optical shop, that is on somewhat different hours to the optician - I surmise the reception and the optical shop folks aren't necessarily on the same page. So I'm just sadder and wiser and not angry at this point. You are similarly cautioned that calling ahead doesn't necessarily do you any good. And, seriously, this was the *fourth* place this happened to me, where they weren't there during the hours they purported to be there, so clearly this is a "feature" of small optical shops. I only mention it this time since I made a special trip after explicitly asking "will the shop be open such and such hours".

I called on a Tuesday and got an appointment for the following day. We arrived ten minutes prior to our appointment. When I gave my daughter's name they said, "Oh, the doctor had an emergency and is running a little late. If you want to fill out the paperwork and wait." I asked how long. They said he'd been there in about 45-60 minutes. WHAT? Then they told me I could come back if that was easier. I looked at them, not knowing what to say. They said they tried to call but my phone number was wrong. They tied the white pages but I wasn't there. I decided that these things happen and filled out the new patient paperwork. After the last sheet, was someone else's completed forms. Yeah - you know - the ones that have their name, SSN, and whatnot. I left with my three kids unsure what to think. I went home and put my name and zip code into whitepages.com. My number popped right up. I called them, telling them I'm in the white pages. They said they didn't have my name, only my daughter's. What? I then found out his emergency was a burst pipe at his house. Nothing medical or whatnot. So...he can cancel on patients, no one like a spouse can handle a burst pipe at 1:30pm in the afternoon and no other doctor could see my kid? And...the staff is too incompetent to take information correctly or remove prior patients forms from a clipboard. Not the kind of place I want to do business with. *sigh*
