Ten years later, we had a lab (who we trained to become therapy dog with the skills we learned thru the years from CTU) and mix breed dog who had lived with us since they were puppies, but we were worried about how they would do with a new baby as I was pregnant. We took some refresher obedience classes to remind two and four legged beings of what "good house manners" are, and I took their new baby class. We boarded our dogs there, when Four Paws Inn still had overnight boarding. Most recently, we completed puppy kindergarten and basic/ beginner training with our newest puppy. Lisa Marie and Caitlin are both amazing trainers, of both dogs and their humans. They are skilled at seeing each dog's strengths and challenges, all in the context of small group training classes. They provide coaching to owners on strategies to prevent issues, as well as showing you corrections to make when a problem arises. Their training classes are held indoors, and there is plenty of parking. Both basic and puppy kindergarten include in-person training and weekly zoom meetings to discuss questions and problems. Their training classes are helpful for both new and experienced dog owners. We are looking forward to continuing the next level of training very soon!

She also struggled on walks because of the constant pulling to the point we worried she would hurt herself. We decided to start with a private session with Kilo One where they came into our home and worked on walking on the leash with her. It was immediately clear they knew exactly what they were doing and saw progress after just one session! We ultimately decided on sending our pup for a 3-week board and train where she could get more practice to help her cement all the basics down. After coming home we have noticed a huge difference. She responds much more consistently to all her commands (sit ,stay, down, place, kennel, etc.) but also is doing much better on walks! We were hesitant at first sending her away for so long but Jon and Haley were great! We got so many updates and pictures/ videos along the way that put us at ease. We would truly recommend Kilo One to all our friends and family, it has been a game changer! We look forward to continuing our pups training with them!

I have a small child in my house and decided that if we were to keep the dog we had to get a dog trainer in the home to correct some of his behaviors. My husband searched around on Craigslist and decided on Travis. When Travis arrived to our home he was very professional and prepared to immediately begin working. Within the first few minutes of Travis interacting with our dog we noticed a change in behavior. Clearly we were not interacting with him properly which is part of the problem. After the first lesson my dog was coming on command to his name and learning self control. After our second lesson he was learning not to bother my small child as he played nearby. We have 4 more lessons in our package but as of now we are definitely satisfied with the progress the dog is making.

I was skeptical at first,,, but after talking to Kat and Mikalia I was ready. They took time to explain the process and what I should expect from training; and daily updates would be provided. My primary concerns were her possibly becoming passive if the training was aggressive or overwhelming (because she is a very outgoing and happy dog), I was concerned about her jumping on people, pulling while walking, and overall ignoring me. Bella was projected to worked with everyone there Kat, Makila, Halie, and Atavia. Training : Week one Every day Bella was a happy girl! There's a weekly meeting with the trainer , pet and pet parents. I hadn't had my meeting yet however overall Bella would come home and sitting on her cot without being told. Bella was more calm and content with sitting on her cot/place. I was surprised because she always preferred the sofa. Week 2 Bella is still a very happy girl !! While dropping her off she was happy and walked away without looking back at me. I noticed our walks at home were much better and her pulling was much less.. Week 3 Everyday she is still my happy Bella. I couldn't take her to public places without the stress of her pulling and trying to say hi to everyone around her. By week 3 almost zero pulling on her leash during walks, we were going to the pet store and she is more focused. She did not stop to say hi unless someone said something to her and I also stopped... at the end of week 3 I took Bella to the beach... she sat in the wagon and never tried to jump out while I was pulling (this use to be a nightmare) . After we were settled Bella sat calmly on the blanket with my sister and I .... Several people actually stopped to say how well behaved she is... I wish I would have found K9 aholics in Norfolk VA sooner. But I'm happy to I finally did. Well worth it.. Bella is still in training , and she is doing great!!

Genevieve and Jordan are the dream team and will tell it to you straight. A lot of the problems we had with our very spirited, bursting with personality, smarter than both my husband and I combined, German Shepherd/Lab mix was rooted in the fact that we were trying to explain her behaviors by what other people told us about dog behavior and what we incorrectly believed. Don't listen to common misconceptions, listen to the dog whisperers. Listen to the experts. I promise you, they will not lead you wrong. Everything they said was spot on. Ella was our problem child. We adored her, but she was as naughty as they come and we just didn't know how to properly handle her. We weren't new dog owners by any means, but she needed a strong handler and they taught us how to be that for her. My biggest regret was not investing in their training sooner than we did. My husband was convinced we could teach Ella manners without professional guidance, but he soon learned that bad habits become hard to break. So off Ella went for a week of boarded boot camp with Jordan and Genevieve. They sent us so many videos showing her progress throughout the week which helped our separation anxiety and made us so excited every time we got to see what our girl was learning. The fun didn't stop there though. We continued sessions to keep our Ella learning. Let me say too, Ella LOVES Jordan and Genevieve. She gets so excited to see them that we joke they are her real parents. We love them too. We will continue to use them for Ella, our new puppy, Frank, and any future dogs we may collect over the next few years. I wouldn't make the same mistake twice. We are extremely disappointed with our experience at this dog daycare. Our dog is high-energy,…read morefriendly, and loves everyone and everything--he wouldn't harm a fly. We enrolled him here specifically so he could stay socialized while my husband and I serve on active duty military, and we placed a great deal of trust in this facility to keep him safe. Unfortunately, our dog has now sustained two separate injuries while in their care. We understand and accepted the liability waiver; however, signing a waiver does not excuse a lack of supervision or preventative care. This most recent injury was the final straw, as there appeared to be little to no effort to prevent it from happening. What was most concerning was being told that the other dog involved only received a "warning" and was not removed, meaning it is still allowed to interact with and potentially injure other dogs. That is an unacceptable risk for any responsible daycare. To make matters worse, when concerns were raised, the receptionist responded by saying her dogs go there and nothing happens to them, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. When we requested to speak with a manager, we were told it would take 1-2 days, offering no immediate accountability or reassurance. We wanted this daycare to be a long-term solution for socialization and enrichment, but after being let down twice, we can no longer trust this facility with our dog's safety. We hope management takes a serious look at their supervision practices, incident response, and customer communication before another dog is hurt.
