Omg a GEM. This is a hidden gem! The food is absolutely excellent. The owners are so lovely and attentive. The ube cheesecake was YUM. We had the adobo, the NY steak, the branzino and the patty melt which was incredible. Will definitely back for the brunch. Yum highly recommend

There are many regional omelette varieties of national import. Taiwan has its o-a-tsian with oysters, India has its bread omelette, and finally I was able to find somewhere near NYC making the Philippines' famous tortang talong, which uses a splayed eggplant as its foundation. The rendition here is quite good but a bit bourgeois, with a few dainty flowers sprinkled in - and no banana ketchup in sight. While this was the dish I came in search of, I ended up preferring the bibingka pancakes. These are some of the best pancakes I've had in recent memory, with a not-too-sweet, buttery dense core and a salted egg yolk in the center that adds to the richness. The environs are a bit sterile, as the restaurant extends into the lobby of some new wrap construction apartment building that wouldn't be out of place in suburban Dallas. I hope they eventually find a more accessible location closer to the core of Jersey City's historically Filipino community in McGinley Square.

Mother-effer. I'm so mad at our friends for introducing us to this amazing Filipino fusion spot. It's in the middle of bumblef*ck nowhere NJ, so unless you have a car, you'd need to take a bus, then a scooter, then a camel, to get to this place. And that makes me extra mad because I just recently sold my camel. (Pause) I've been reminded that Uber/Lyft exists. Oops. Anger dissipating. Back to the food. The delicious, delicious food. There was nothing that we tried here that wasn't world class. - Coconut Chia Pudding: Typical it sounds, but typical it's not. This ain't your crunchy granola, Lululemon concoction. I don't know exactly what they put in this pudding (besides maybe crack), but it was rich and flavorful and more coconutty than a Bounty bar. - Kare Kare Mafaldini: A hearty mafaldini meets a succulent beef brisket, and they get married in a savory peanut sauce. The result is the tastiest wedding your mouth has ever been invited to. - Kansi Shanks: Picture fall-off-the-bone meat cooked with nicely charred greens you've never heard of (batwan?) and fruit like long peppers and jackfruit. You'll want this for the carnivores in your crew. - Bibingka Pancake: I literally still fantastize about the fluffiness of these incredible cakes perfectly skilleted with coconut flakes, butter, condensed milk, macapuno cream, and surprise salted duck egg yolk. Picture Japanese souffle pancakes made by a SE Asian perfectionist. You've pictured heaven on a plate. As a special bonus: This beautiful cafe is covered in plants. Gorgeous, healthy, green and colorful plants. Turns out, Chef Ruby (the wife of the couple who own NDP) is a big plant lover, and all the plants are cuttings from home. As a fellow plant mama, I was pretty sure I died and went to heaven from the moment I stepped in, but I was positive I had died when James, her husband, offered to let me take home a cutting of anything I wanted. Guess who now has a pencil cactus???

Hidden Gem inside an unassuming coffee/sandwich shop inside the Agnes apartment building. Run by a nice Filipino couple (wife is the chef). Standout dishes include: Kare Kare Mafaldini: handmade noodles, sauce takes 6 hours to make Bibingka Pancake - fluffy with salted duck egg Tortang Talong - fluffy and good flavors Kit Kat Cake and Ube Basque Cheesecake Also good: Pork Adobo, Mango Guava Drink

Better than it has any right to be, considering where it is. I got the Squid Ink Palabok, and my friend got the Kare Kare Mafaldini. This was some of the best food I've had in a restaurant in quite some time. Flavors were amazing. Very reasonably priced, considering the quality.

The cutest little cafe -- a westside JC gem! Located in the Agnes, the interior is super homey, bright, and spacious. There's a decent amount of seating with additional seating right outside in the Agnes lounge as well. A great place to enjoy a meal, coffee, and WFH. I usually go to the 440 Starbucks a block away but so glad this place opened (support small businesses instead)! The service is excellent, everyone is super attentive and kind. They take the time to talk to you and really get to know you which is super sweet. The food is also great; I got the BLT and iced latte with an extra shot of espresso (bc I love caffeine obviously). The BLT has this tomato jam in it which makes it super unique and the bread is brioche which adds to the amazingness of it. They also bring out a little carafe of water for you which is the cherry on top! 10/10 vibes, food, drinks.

Tasteful combination of modern and traditional Filipino cuisine. Between the food and service, everyone makes you feel a homely comfort. A must try restaurant when in Jersey City!

    Bibingka pancake

Stopped by on a Sunday for brunch it was very busy in the small space but everyone was super attentive. I had The bibingka pancakes and the corned beef hash which was incredible. I will definitely be back!

Chef Ruby and her husband James are the absolute best! The minute we walked in, James welcomed us with the biggest smile and open arms! He asked if it was our first time there, we said yes. James explained their restaurant's concept and vision, so that there wouldn't be any confusion. He explained to us that their menu isn't your typical "Filipino" dishes that you would expect from your local restaurants. But it's chef Ruby's "take" on traditional dishes, BUT executed to the next damn level!! Everything was delicious and presented beautifully! Flavor bombs galore! In fact it was so delicious, we went back the next day!

Brought here by friends who either wanted to try, already tried and tried & also lived in the area. I was down for the foodie experience. What a great, clean, welcoming space! Like a cozy hangout, I almost expected big dumpy pillow chairs to chillax in by the windows. (there were none BTW). The guy behind he counter had a genuine, Welcome To My Place smile, and only then I knew he had some great food to share. I had: Mango Guava drink. He made me 2-step when he told me it would have ginger in it, and I said, Yes, pleeease! Tasty stuff, and gave me a warm vacation vibe. That ginger hit the mark, and balanced nicely with the sweetness of the juice. I didn't care it was $7. I dunno what coffee folks pay for coffee, but I considered this my treat. Pork Belly Adobo. Oh snap! Such a cool way to present and serve and enjoy pork adobo! A great purple rice portion with a pinch of crunchy garlic on top (i wanted more garlic) and some fingerling potatoes, just firm enough but not crunchy, and some kimchi with the perfect spicy, un-salty tartness. I gobbled it all up. Yumz. Ube Basque Cheesecake. Niiiice. I cherish my carbs. This made me nod in agreement of the goodniss. Fought myself to put down the fork. Great flavor, not mega sweet, great crust, a sweet sour cream dollop, and the coconut strips were great, not over jellied & firm, like I've seen on other sweet treats. The lil flower placement made it feel like my reward for killing that adobo dish. Had a taste of my friend's Yuzu Cheesecake & enjoyed it, but that brilliant tingling yuzu finish wasn't gonna take me to the end. Great space, great staff, great food. My friends and I agreed, a biiiiit pricey, but worth it for the presentation, the service, the spin on traditional dishes, and the taste was epic. I think they deliver, but I'd want to eat in and zen out. Go!

I've been here twice and the food is delicious! The decor is great-- love the plants. James & Ruby are so friendly and welcoming. The mushroom taglietelle was delicious. My mom loved the spicy chicken ramen. The burnt ube cheesecake was fantastic--not too sweet. Also loved the bibingka pancakes. Would recommend!

Biscuits and Gravy. So flavorful, so savory. Good way to mop up after a long night or set the base for a busy weekend.

A Decade of Love on a Plate: A Local Favorite That Punches Above Its Weight…read more This place is the definition of a neighborhood gem--the kind you almost want to keep secret, yet can't stop yourself from praising. Cheap and cheerful on the surface, it punches way above its weight class, delivering inventive, clean, Asian-inspired food that's masterfully cooked by clearly skilled hands--and made with real love. I've been coming back year after year for most of this restaurant's 10-year lifespan, and that consistency is no accident. Every dish tastes intentional, thoughtful, and deeply satisfying, with a clear goal: to feed people love on a plate. It's a super veggie/vegan friendly that easily wins over even my "meat and potatoes" husband--who happily cleans his plate every time. In an era where genuine hospitality feels increasingly rare, Perry single-handedly restored my faith that quality service is not extinct. Warm, attentive, and authentically kind, Perry makes every guest feel seen, welcome, and cared for--without pretense or attitude. This is food that nourishes, service that uplifts, and a place that keeps you coming back not just for the flavors, but for how it makes you feel. A true neighborhood treasure.

I've seen this restaurant circling my YELP for the last few months and put it on my "want to try"…read morelist. This place is absolutely solid! If you're looking for good flavorful food options, this has got to be on your "must try" list, I genuinely do not think you'll be disappointed. I ordered the blueberry lemon iced tea, maitake mushroom medley with the option of udon noodles & added chicken, the coconut curry with the option of ramen noodles and the rice pudding with caramel sauce for dessert. First things first, my absolute FAVORITE thing about this restaurant is the food contains no GMO's no preservatives, pink Himalayan salt to season and NO REFINED sugars- only agave and palm sugar to sweeten. I WISH I would've known about this spot sooner JUST for that detail alone. I am always on the hunt for a place that offers refined sugar free options, and with that comes this level of safety knowing what I am consuming has a heath standard/holistic approach to meet and me not having to feel guilty or worrisome after a meal. Absolute 10/10 in that aspect. I saw a few reviews mention the blueberry lemon iced tea, as someone not even a fan of lemonade I decided to give it a try. Let's just say, I was slow sipping my drinks to not finish it all and avoid getting another in the same sitting lol. It's well balanced, not sour, blueberry flavor is present and knowing it's sweetened with agave led to guilt free pleasure. Would recommend everyone to try it, even if you're not a fan of lemonade like I am. Another mention, lemonade tends to make my throat dry, due to its sourness and tanginess and that didn't happen at all. Think the blueberry was more prominent than the lemon, it was really enjoyable. The curry ramen was a highlight! If your a fan of curry, I think you def have got to try this. I actually didn't get it (my partner did) because I didn't wanna be let down, but it was absolutely delicious. I got the maitake medley udon noddles with added chicken and what a blast of flavor. It had veggies, mushrooms, chicken, udon, eggs, kimchi and was extremely flavorful. I was very surprised that each element of the dish had its own flavor and spice that really jumped out, but paired well together. The least favorite thing for me on this platter was the eggs. Just your standard egg, I'm a fan of soy-marinated eggs on my noodles and not a fan of regular boiled eggs, but they are always an added protein plus! One honorary note, is the kimchi. I like kimchi, don't love it, but this was the best kimchi I have ever had. I even ordered a side to go. Another cool thing is the food is cooked fresh, right in front of you. Tbh, we were the only ones in there at 6 PM and food took quite a while, but I appreciate and prefer freshness over quickness always. The rice pudding is light and the homemade refunded sugar-free caramel addition makes it so much better. As there were only two options of dessert on the menu (rice pudding & matcha ice cream) I decided to give it a go although I'm not really a fan of rice pudding. Was it amazing? No. Would I get it again? Possibly. This place was on the pricier side I would say. My bowl of maitake mushroom w/chicken (added chicken being a $6.50 dollar up charge) was $34. Worth it for that price point? Not really, but good none the less. I also ordered a small side of kimchi (the small clear containers) and that was $7 which I think is crazy, but also it was good. For a better price point, I might've asked for a jar lol. Customer service- the workers were nice, but not really personable, which I don't really care for much, but bringing this up because there was this sense that maybe I shouldn't be in there or they just possibly didn't want to work. I tipped nonetheless, but for being the only couple or people in there I thought we would be greeted by everyone, just a simple acknowledgement, but it felt more like we were bothering them by walking in. I understand that people have their days and you have no clue what someone is going through personally, but it was distinct enough to mention- especially as someone who never really comments on the customer service aspect. I see through it cuz the food was great! Something about it was also just a let down, but I can't put my finger on it. Although it was good, I don't see myself frequenting this place. Maybe the price point is deterring me, but I do think it's worth a try!
