An incredible hole in the wall restaurant serving authentic Thai food! It's a one man shop - one guy seats you, takes your order, cooks the food and cashes you out (literally with cash or Venmo). This means it can be a little wait to get your food depending on when you sit but it'll be worth the wait! My party of three ordered the crab cake crepe (my favorite), shrimp kao soi (incredible flavor and spicy for the average person - spice level cannot be adjusted) and pork belly pad thai (noodles were thinner than usual but that just means it soaked up more sauce)! We loved everything and it tasted very authentic. The owner was also friendly and pretty efficient all things considered. The place itself has 5 tables that can seat up to 4 and two tables that can seat up to 6 and is very casual. I can't wait to come back here!
Food (5/5): We ordered the beef pad Thai, Thai black super herb, and crab cake crepe. This is definitely the main highlight. The food was absolutely amazing and spectacular. Must be the homey vibe of the food. Specifically the Thai Black Super Herb soup was super delicious and flavorful, one of the best soups I've had. The crepe and pad Thai were also beautifully presented and were quite yummy. Service (4/5): It looked like there's only one guy serving, cooking, and cleaning. Took a bit for our order to get placed and for the food to come but that's probably because it seemed like there's only one person. The staff member seemed very energetic in a quirky way where he talked and moved super fast. Almost as if everything was running at 200% for him. He ended up being super nice and friendly as he chatted with us at the end of our meal. Definitely different than most places I've been to. Ambiance (4/5): This is a very quirky and unique restaurant. We walked in and loud kpop music was blaring and there's a bunch of stuffed animals in the seats. It kind of felt like someone set up this restaurant in their apartment but did a decently good job decorating. The place was well lit with some wooden tables. An improvement they should make is on the menu, it is very difficult to read. The organization is confusing and random letters are bolded in red. I had a very hard time understanding it and ordering properly if I didn't have the pictures and items listed on Yelp. Also considering that it's a one-man solo show, the restaurant should consider getting a tablet for ordering so people can order and pay while he focuses on just making and getting the food out.
Prince & I is truly an unexpected hole-in-the-wall gem!! Service is fantastic. This place is run by a single owner, who is very enthusiastic and kind. Expect that he'll be excited to see you and will explain the menu to you, as this is not a typical Thai restaurant! The menu consists generally of 3 types of dish - Crepes, Hot soup, and noodles. All with different options for protein (ie: salmon, chicken, veggies / tofu, etc.) The owner told us that there is "no mild, no medium, only spicy!" I ordered the Pad Thai noodles with Pork Belly. Definitely did not taste like a typical pad thai, but was more so a fusion dish - and it was delicious! The noodles are thin and short, almost stringy, which is different, but really allowed for the flavor to folly coat the dish. There is a mayo drizzle topping which make the dish more creamy once mixed in and help cut the spiciness down a bit! The fish flakes on top add extra texture to the dish. These are paired with a little side salad. Also ordered the Black Sesame drink, unpictured. This blended drink is thick, textured, and unlike any drink I've had before, and it was delicious and extremely filling! The drink has a very nutty flavor and is topped with quinoa, which adds a little extra crunch to the mix! Overall Prince & I was not at all what I expected it to be, but was delicious and I will definitely be back!! Always happy to support small, and delicious, local businesses!
Ok, for a one-man restaurant? The service was IMPRESSIVE. My friends and I seated ourselves and waited for the server/chef/host (yes, he did it all) to hand us menus. The man was so nice and even made a lot of suggestions while we browsed the menus. After we ordered, the man continued to hustle back to the kitchen and went back and forth b/w the kitchen and all of the other tables to address everyone's needs. This man was FLYING. The food was AMAZING. (The presentation was also very impressive.) My friends and I literally ate in comfortable silence for 10 minutes just vacuuming our food lol, everything tasted so good. I ordered the pork belly pad thai. The pad thai is unique bc it has angel hair, but it still tasted delicious. The pork belly was also very juicy. I tried my friend's kaow soi, and it was SPICY lol (but still flavorful). I only recommend this for people w/ good spice tolerance. I would definitely come here again. The chef was so sweet, and the food was incredible!
The food, ambiance and the owner are incredible!! Everything is cooked with care and is delicious. There are base 5 dishes and with what type of protein you pick they transform into entirely unique dishes. Owner is full of love & life and the experience is purely authentic. A must visit.

Chef/owner is very attentive and high energy. Simple setup inside with decoration. Flavor is great. New twist on Thai food. But I feel the portion is small.
It's very inconspicuous on the outside. The food was excellent and server was very friendly and helpful. The menu wasn't like other Thai restaurants that I have eaten at, however I think this is because he has made healthier versions of the food and put unique twists on it. Either way it was very good and we all enjoyed our meals. I would definitely go back to try other dishes on the menu.
yummmmm!!! what a great no frills take-out spot. Hours are usually 4-10pm, it's owned and operated by one owner and the food is INCREDIBLE. favorites are the pad thai and the noodle soup -- my wife loves the crepes too. You can't go wrong with a fresh meal from here!!
The Prince & I is an inconspicuous restaurant tucked away on Wayne Street in Jersey City. It's one of those places that you may have walked past a bunch of times but never noticed or went in. This is your sign to go in! The food was delicious. We ordered the BBQ Pork Belly Pad Thai. Loved the rich flavor of the tamarind sauce. From the other pictures on Yelp it looked like the portions were going to be on the smaller side but it was honestly more than generous. I couldn't eat it all! We also had the cheese crepe which was light and airy and perfect if you are just looking to snack on something. More than the food, what really sets this place apart from the rest is the service. I'm assuming our waiter was the owner as well and it seems like he runs the place by himself. He was so nice and his friendly demeanor is infectious! Also I'm pretty sure he gave us two bottles of water for free :)
From the outside, you can't tell this is the restaurant and it looks like it's under construction. However, the owner is kind and fun! He runs a one man show as host and chef but he ensures his customers are taken care of. I asked for vegetarian without egg and even though it was limited, he was excited to serve me and my friend. The menu is definitely different than what you'd expect from a Thai restaurant. However, the food tastes like its authentic Thai food (yes I've been to Thailand). The home made noodles were excellent and the curry was flavorful. These were the best noodles I've had from any Asian restaurant as they were fresh and truly like angel hair. I'd love to come back and hopefully see the restaurant grow! I highly recommend anyone to check this place out even once! You won't get friendlier service or this good food anywhere else.

Prince & I feels less like a restaurant and more like being invited into someone's home for dinner -- in the best way possible. From the moment we walked in, the owner personally seated us and ended up cooking our food himself. He has a quirky, memorable personality that adds to the charm of the whole experience. It's the kind of place where you can tell the food is made with intention rather than being rushed out of a big commercial kitchen. The dishes were packed with flavor and tasted very authentic. You can really tell the ingredients and spices are balanced the way Thai food should be -- bold, savory, a little spicy, and deeply satisfying. Everything we ordered had great texture and presentation as well. Overall, it was a unique dining experience with authentic flavors and a memorable host. If you're looking for a polished corporate restaurant this isn't it -- but if you want something personal, quirky, and genuinely delicious, Prince & I is absolutely worth visiting. Overall: B // 4 stars Fascinating restaurant that feels much more like you're being invited into someone's home and trying their takes on classic dishes with his own take. The owner is incredibly kind and enthusiastic during the entire meal, and the food is different, but still tasty. Amazing service. Super friendly. We called then the owner sent us the menu, took it home and even ate it later once heated up. The owner was great at communicating what's vegan and non vegan. The dishes were so full of flavor, you can tell they were made with love. read more

I saw the reviews about this place being underrated and unassuming but didn't believe how accurate they were until I saw it for myself. The reviews that called this a "one man show" really got it right. The owner who is incredibly friendly is also the host, the chef, and the waiter. The restaurant is minimally decorated with a bare bones vibe. The menu is simple with 4 options (crepe, soup, rice bowl, pad thai) for the base and different proteins to add. Once we ordered we were able to see him to go to the kitchen and hear him prepare our meals. The food tasted incredibly fresh and had a homemade feel to it. I got the vegetarian pad Thai and my friend for the soup. We both really enjoyed our meals. read more

The Pad Thai was amazing! The fish flakes on top of the pad Thai was different but a nice twist, not overwhelmingly peanuty and the spice is present but not overwhelming and the chicken was tender and flavorful. Service wise, the man helping us was so cheerful and amazing. Ambiance/vibe was interesting because one minute they're playing Kpop, then anime, and then hard rock/alternative. This was amazing!! Truly a hole in the wall and genuinely the chef is such an amazing person and so happy. You feel the energy as you walk in and the food was so freaking delicious and simple I absolutely loved it! I cannot wait to go back!! Interesting little restaurant run by a single man. A the one man show. Initially questioned my choice to dine in (basic seating) but I my mind truly changed when the food came out. We ordered the shrimp crepe and his take on chicken khao soi. Everything was delicious and ingredients were fresh. Would return to try other menu items. read more

The front has no sign, it's a beaten up deli sign. Hidden behind blue double doors is a simple and clean dining spot. Been here before Covid and their pad Thai is tasty. I like his take of Thai fusion and taste healthy and well balanced. There's something restaurant quality but still homely in the food. Definitely going to be back for more! read more

At first we thought it was closed. On the outside, it looks like an abandoned deli, or a cafe that's under construction. Luckily, a local resident passed by and said it was open and encouraged us to try it. Amazing food and excellent service despite being a "one man show" (there were no other staff but the chef). The chef was very friendly and cheerful and even explained the flavors and ingredients of the dishes. Would definitely come back again. read more

Was meeting yo with a friend in JC and was in the mood for Thai food. This place was one of the only places that came up. The place is very small. About 6 tables of 4 and the owner might have been the only person working there- seating us, taking our orders, cooking, and serving. Luckily we were the only people there (we went at 4:30pm on a sunday) until about 5:30 when another table showed up. In the past, I always crave thai food and am mostly disappointed with what comes out. This place was completely different. Food: app: we split a crabcake crepe which is not even close to as basic as it sounds. The crabcake was a delicious crabcake, but the crepe was actually stuffed with cheese (new to me) and i loved it. main: I got the veggie pad thai and not only was it beautiful (picture attached) but it was DELICIOUS. There were 3 different presentations of food on the plate. The main were the pad thai noodles which were small thing noodles covered in the padthai sauce. Very different to what I usually get, but it was delicious. The second presentation of food were the veggies which were also marinated in the delicious pad thai sauce. The 3rd presentation on the plate was a little basic salad which was also great somehow. I basically licked the plate at the end. I would definitely come back here. I could imagine this place could probably get busy given small staff and small place. read more

Summary: Very quirky hidden gem -- keep an open mind! We could use more interesting food experiences like this Thai fusion restaurant in NJ and we would come back. Location: Finding the restaurant was a bit hard, if I didn't know the exact address number, I would have gotten lost. Needs better signage. Food: I see a lot of reviewers expecting a "standard" Thai menu and being disappointed. This place is not standard. There's definitely Thai flavors here but with hippy, healthy ingredients. We got a shrimp crepe and a pork belly super herb noodle soup. Shrimps were tasty and tender. Crepe was cheesy. Highly recommend this. Also the soup was peppery and strong in flavor (similar to boat noodles). Service: Super friendly! I'm not sure what it would be like during peak dinner time but we went late night and it was quiet and chill. Overall, a feel good experience. You feel like you tried something unique, ate healthy, and supported a small local business. read more
I was delighted to learn that this place had reopened and not just that, the chef had an entire new menu. This restaurant is phenomenal (before and now). Their pad Thai was great but the new menu that offers a Thai fusion of crepes, noodle soup, rice bowls is sensational and worth a try ! Tried crepe with chicken, rice berry bowl with shrimp along with Thai noodle soup w/ pork belly and it was an incredible meal ! Topped it with a chocolate cheesecake crepe and it was divine. The chef is passionate, kind and deserves every bit of the praise he receives here on Yelp or elsewhere. Highly recommend this place and I cannot wait to go back there :) TIP: it's BYOB read more

It's a small restaurant that only seemed to have one guy running it when I came (Sunday evening around 5pm). The owner is this super bubbly Thai guy who is just excited to share his food with you. Apparently this establishment has gone through multiple ownerships- he sold it five years ago and then recently bought it back. I would give this place 5/5 stars for sure. Not only was the food incredibly delicious, it was super unique too. The pad Thai consisted of thin rice noodles which is different than your typical pad Thai dish. The crab cake crepe was probably my favorite- it was just full of so many flavors and so delicious. Even the salad was a hit amongst me and my friends- it has a lot of beets! read more
