I have a couple of complaints the way CubeSmart operates their business. When you complain about it to the management at the facility, they simply tell you that their district manager makes the decisions and they have no control, so I will share with you why I am unhappy. 1) They lure you in with "special offers" which is enticing. But then they will start raising your rent fairly regularly. That seems to be the corporate business model these days. In the 3 years I've been at this facility my indoor storage has practically doubled. 2) The gates system used to secure the outdoor parking is always breaking. I am a union electrician and I park a company truck at the facility. So if the gate system isn't working, I can't go to work, which costs me nearly $800 a day when you include my hourly pay and benefits package. My biggest problem with this situation is when I talk to the management about it, they tell me CubeSmart isn't going to change their junky gate operating system for me. I had to laugh because when these gates break, it inconveniences everyone because of how the entry and exit system works at this facility. Instead of driving through a couple of roll-up doors like most facilities, you also get routed through the outdoor parking area which has those two (2) pesky sliding gate systems that always breaks. I don't appreciate management making it sound as though I am the only person being inconvenienced, the whole traffic pattern causes the excessive use of the junky gate system. If you want a good laugh, think about their reaction to my request of being compensated for my loss time at work. I never mentioned this previous times, but after having this happen several times, what do you expect. I wouldn't have even asked such a thing if I seen that CubeSmart was making an effort to really fixing the issue. Instead they keep fixing the same junk. Here is another funny one for you. I couldn't get my truck out of the parking area, and they told me they don't know when the gates will be fixed. So I may not be going to work tomorrow either! Lol....I am so done with CubeSmart.

They have a vast amount of storage sizes you can choose from, a much better variety than U-haul, and the prices are better too. All of the storage Units are inside and the units have climate control. Great place to store inventory for a business or whatever else you may need! The lady who helped my mother and I out today was so helpful and kind. She talked us through the whole process, what to expect, how long the incentive will last (4 months), etc. If you're in need for a storage place in the area I would definitely recommend Cubesmart! Today I get a notice that effective next month this unit will be $271.00... okay. Online the exact same unit is less than $200.00 today online. Basically only used this place if you're going to be out in less than three months. Otherwise expect an over $30 increase on your current rate. Never mind that the exact unit is more than $70 LESS published on their website. This place is a racket. Do not fall for it.

I happen to ask about the truck andb policy and mentioned I reserved a unit at the other location because they didn't have the size I needed outside. She asked me what I was moving. I told her and she asked if I had seen the unit. I said no. She took me to see what unit I reserved and I was very surprised. It was definitely too small. She took me to see the unit i I really needed and it was perfect. Because Suzy interacted with me and asked probing questions, she saved me a lot of frustration on moving day. On move in day, the process was quick and painless. Tony and the manager Michael greeted me with high energy and great customer service. The process was seamless. From April to May, the main security gate remained open and broken. Repeatedly driving by and seeing the gate open for anyone to access became increasingly frustrating. I understand we're paying for storage but the purpose of a secured facility is completely undermined if the gate is not maintained or repaired in a timely manner. What finalized my decision to move out of my unit was the extreme disappointment I felt from the lack of urgency in addressing the issue. After doing a bit of research, I can assume why there was no rush. Based on the company policies/terms it seems the condition of the gate does not create a significant liability for CubeSmart. Therefore, if an event does occur, the customers lose, not the company. From this experience, I discovered this company does not prioritize customer concerns when serious issues arise. After moving out due to the circumstances mentioned, I overpaid for three weeks and requested a $75 refund. They denied without hesitation. The only compensation offered during this whole month-long debacle was a $10 credit that could not be applied to my final payment. I called to discuss this and never received a return call. I lost even more money moving units to StorageMart, but I would do it again to avoid this Cubesmart and all others. They clearly do not believe in making an unfortunate situation better for their customers. Fun fact: According to public figures, Cubesmart made $333.8 million dollars in profit last year. They can surely afford to refund their customers when wrongdoing has occured.
