My father had received a quote for replacing a bay window from another company in town that he had hired before. That other company looked to take advantage of that and quoted my father a price of $10,000 to replace it. I got involved and looked for other options and was truly fortunate to find J&D Windows and Doors. First off, the price was a FRACTION of what the first company quoted, but more than that David really took in a genuine interest in discussing all the options with my father so that my father was comfortable knowing he was getting exactly what he wanted. The other company took a more cookie cutter approach and was more interested in seeing dollar signs than customer satisfaction.. Due to Covid, supply was interrupted so the new window couldn't be installed when initially scheduled. That had nothing to do with J&D but David still gave my father a discount due to the inconvenience. Completely unnecessary but most appreciated and just a classy move on his part. All told, the work to take out the old bay and put in the new took little more than a morning with a little finishing to be done the next day. The result was amazing and my father was completely overjoyed with the result and I echo how well it turned out. I and my father, recommend J&D thoroughly, absolutely and whole heartedly.

I didn't love the idea of cleaning my second story windows off a ladder. They were also more expensive than some of the other windows, but less expensive than Anderson or Renewal by Anderson. The sales process was very straight forward, and their double hung windows were fairly decent, but didn't meet egress code in a reasonable size. The salesperson couldn't answer many questions on the spot, but always got back to me with the answer within 24 hours. Didn't see to bullshit me, which I appreciated. I would consider them for other projects.

Called customer service and they were gracious enough to send the clips at no charge. Great until the package arrived via Fedex empty with the top ripped open. It was poorly packaged by the shipping department but Fedex isn't gentle either. So, they sent another set of clips that got as far as Ohio when package reported as damaged. Here's where it turns sour, customer service now says I need to pay $31 for the clips as though it were my fault for their poor packaging and Fedex' poor handling. For their pettiness and incompetent shipping department which could cost you big if they screw up a critical shipment on a big project, I will avoid Pella products.

As for replacement windows, though very nice especially with the fold down feature making cleaning easy peasy, I just think in general, new construction is better. I had 2-8' new construction windows put in last summer-wonderful and 8 replacements on a 50 year old house. They're fine, but there's something about replacement that doesn't quite seem as "tight" as new. BUT to do all of those windows would've cost a fortune and what we did was expensive enough for us.
