I have been renting cars for over 40 years, and wanted to try Next car for the first time, but by far this is my worst car rental experience. The advertised flat rate that I booked turned to $60 an hour rate, they kept my $150 deposit. No employee from the office will respond to my concerns after several calls when I spoke with them, and calls to the supervisor were never returned. They are keeping my $150 deposit that was supposed to be refunded to me, but NextCar company has lost my business with them for good. read more

They double charge me the rental fee, I paid Expedia when I booked the car in May 2025 and NextCar charged me again in July 2025 saying that Expedia refunded me the fee. Expedia said they didn't refund me and I should call NextCar. Nextcar said they will bring that up with their accounting department. I don't understand why do I have to do their job to get them the money from Expedia. But I am waiting for both parties to answer me at this point because they both charged me the rental fee while I supposed to pay only once. read more

This was my first time using NextCar and will be my last. Upon arriving to the location and waiting for someone to service us we were given the keys and told to walk out the double doors , turn and walk down the left and then make a right at the booths and the click the car keys to find our car. This was surprising as all other car companies walk you and help you find your vehicle. The car itself had no damage and ran fine. I rented the car from November 2nd and returned it on November 3rd early. I waited a few days to see my return on my account and after not seeing anything I reached out. After 4 customer care reps sent me over and over to the location phone I found that not only had the refund not been sent but they also falsely charged me an additional day. They told me they would take care of this immediately and even gave me a new receipt and sent an email out with me CC'd on it to "help" me along in the process. I have followed up twice and not received any update from them and still have not received either of the two of my refunds. If you're considering renting from here be careful because they will give you the run around when it comes to your money deposit. Recently rented a car for a couple of days from this location. I had never used NextCar before. It happened to be walking distance from where I was having some work done in my own car. The staff was very polite and professional. I was in an out of there in no time, as they were soon closing. I was able to return the car a day early and was able to get my money back for the extra day without a hitch. I would rent from them again. read more

This experience was horrible. The car we rented was filthyt smelled of cigartees and the upholstery full of burn holes. When I took photos and complained to the desk he said not to worry about it. So I took out the extra $5.00 day insurnce bridge After leaving the site the check engine light went on!! I could not let my younger partner drive the car so I wasted another $60 for additional driver fee. When I sent photos to the manager no response So I called him Darius S. who said he'd give me $15 back for unclean interior WOW So I sent an email to corporate HQ and no response SHADY AVOID AT ALL COST!! read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. BUYER BEWARE!! They're BWI location is a scam. They will charge you a lot of unnecessary fees and when you try to get them back they will hang up on you. I called they're BWI location and the so called owner Pam Jackson got nasty with me on the phone and refused to help. When calling the corporate office it was stated that they can't do anything because she owns the location. Have had 3 cars with them over the last 2 months. On the second car I had, I noticed the mudflap had come loose and was about to fall off, so I took it off and placed it in the trunk, so it wouldn't fall off and get lost while the car was in motion. When I returned the car, I filled out a damage report and was contacted by my insurance company who told me that they would let me know when it was determined if the incident would be covered under collision ($500 deductible) or comprehensive ($250 deductible). Today I attempted to exchange the car I have for another, under a new contract, and was told that I would need to pay my $500 deductible before i can enter into a new contract. I told them I would need to see an estimate from a repair shop for the claim, and that I hadn't even been contacted by my insurance company about what coverage would be used. They said it is their policy that they do not even take the car into a shop until they have the entire deductible. I said, umm that's not how insurance works!! This claim should be covered by my comprehensive coverage because it occurred when the vehicle was not in motion, and REGARDLESS- the damage was not enough to reach EITHER of my deductible amounts!! It was a MUD FLAP! It's clear they're trying to scam me for cash and I'm having none of it. Update: month later and have heard nothing regarding this erroneous claim. They continue to ignore requests by me for a damage estimate, and have not attempted to contact my insurance company further. Because they're lying. read more

Horrible place run by thieves. Whatever you do, do not rent a car from Next Car! So I called their corporate office to extend my rental at the current rate and Next Car agreed. Low and behold when I returned the car they charged me 50% more then what I agreed to. I called customer service numerous times they just transfer for you to different locations. Do not, I repeat do not rent from this company. I rented a car online 2 hours ago for a date one month in advance. I found I couldn't use the car. I called to cancel the reservation, and they informed me because it was prepaid I couldn't cancel. Are you kidding me. Two Hours later!!!!!! You mean to tell me that with today's technology, you can't refund a car rental two hours after I rented it for a date a month later. Unacceptable. read more
