Having 3 previous estimates, Carlos's flashy (in a good way) & professional business card was solicited on my front door. It impressed me so I decided to give him a call. I thought, what do I have to lose? I have a rule where any more than 5 estimates will give you a headache! I called him on a Thursday afternoon for him to come by & was surprised to hear that he would be coming in a few hours. I was expecting within the next couple of days. He was extremely polite when I spoke to him & I already got a good vibe from him. He arrived as promised, 10 minutes earlier even & we did a walk through around the entire house. Exterior, that is. He gave me recommendations & made me feel at ease when we were discussing the house. No extra sales pressure, no rushing...just honesty. WIthin 5 minutes I had my quote written on paper with a breakdown of the steps he will complete to do the job. I'd have to say I was already sold at that point considering the other 3 painters that gave me estimates. His price was very reasonable! I needed some references which he gladly gave to me & I called them that same night. Nothing but great comments from 2 of his references. We sealed the deal that night and he was ready to begin the following day. WHOOHOO! When Carlos says he & his staff will come at 7a.m., he means it!!! I swear all 5 days they worked on my house, they came in Carlos's truck, all dressed in white, very professional, polite, respectable of my property & ready for work! I never heard them being loud, talking too much or leaving any trash behind. All of their belongings were neatly tucked away in my back yard. Prep work was flawless all the way to completion. I could not have been any happier with Carlos & his guys. I never thought my 1920's house could look so beautiful! In fact, when my parent's gutters were installed and they went through two rainy seasons, they noticed how the gutters could be improved. We told Tony and he fixed it two years later with no charge! This is a man who wants to make sure your stuff is right AND that you are pleased. Aside from the excellent quality of work, Tony has a good sense of design and can give good recommendations on what someone should do. I found that refreshing because other contractors simply want to be told what to do and don't operate as good soundboard for ideas. Many times, people have a rough idea what they want, but lack the experience and vision to execute. Tony has the experience and design eye to supplement your vision. Tony also wants to make sure you are happy with your place, so this means if you find something wrong or not to your liking, he will find a proper solution. My wife and I are starting several remodel jobs on our house and decided to start on the guest bathroom, we have no issue providing sweat equity where we can but sometimes we'll need help on a job we have never done before. Once we demo'd the bathroom and removed the toilet, sink, mirror, flooring etc. we were left with a empty room and several large Wall holes and huge chips to the wall. They were punctual (even early some days), professional, and very fastidious. In addition to a great paint job - on high ceilings, walls, stairwell, etc, Carlos removed the base moulding on my hardwood floors and cut new beautiful moulding, which he then secured and painted. I had a lot of difficulty (and ambivalence) about paint colors which Carlos also helped me with (i.e. painting samples, talking about the light, coordinating colors, explaining finishes, etc.) In a nutshell, Carlos and his crew did a fantastic job for a reasonable price. Tony from NEXXUS is fantastic. He's extremely knowledgable, has a TON of experience, and has a lot of great teams working for him. We hired Tony to paint our "new" (1911) house before we moved all of our possessions into it. I had not worked with a general contractor before, and all I knew was that they like to try to add, add, add to your project. Sure, Tony was no exception to this, BUT, the difference is that with Tony, he knew that there were things we would be better off doing before moving that we would never be able to do after - and there was not a single piece of work done that we would have been better off not doing. As a result, we ended up not only painting the whole interior, but also refinishing and re-staining the floors, re-sealing two exterior doors and replacing one exterior door, removing an interior door, adding crown molding details, re-plastered two whole walls and a ceiling, fixed lots of holes in the floors, replaced broken glass, and a lot of other miscellaneous this-and-that projects. I'm very happy that we went through Tony for all of this because done individually, it would have cost more, taken more of my time to manage, and not had our general contractor to back up the workmanship. Tony was on-site every day and picked up his phone every time I called. He is extremely responsive, which was very important to me. After bidding the job out to local contractors and not being happy with the price or the duration involved, I contacted Carlos as I read his great reviews in Yelp and I'm glad I did -- I've never met such a responsible and hardworking crew that does such great work. I needed to have my entire garage scraped and repainted (yes, including the floor and exposed ceiling pipes). I'm pretty particular about painting have yet to hire back the same painter so Carlos was one of three new painters I had bid on the project. He's a super nice guy and doesn't give you the vibe that he's trying to pull one over on you. I think Carlos excels at service - always on time, great follow up, etc. His crew did a decent job for the price. The price is what bumped the review to 4 starts.
