i usually go to the vaughan location but was in the area so wanted to give this a try. i got the assorted bahn mi and the garlic honey sausage bahn mi. both were pretty yummy :) the only thing was the store wasn't super clean so i think seeing that affected our appetite a bit :( the service was great tho, the staff was super sweet!

The staff here are so much nicer than at the Steeles location, and I personally prefer the desserts here to the Steeles location as well. Of course Nguyen Huong is famous for its Banh Mi, as they should be because their Banh Mi are delicious. However, they have lots of Vietnamese desserts and other pre-made snacks and meals. Their pandan honeycomb cake is amazing, as is their tri-coloured dessert (che ba mau) - if you're going to eat the che ba mau right away, let them know, they will pour it into a larger cup and add crushed ice to it. It is $0.50 extra but much yummier this way. But if you're going to take it home to eat later, obviously don't get the ice otherwise it will melt and water down your dessert. I recommend you crush your own ice and add it at home, and then mix everything up. It cuts down on the sweetness and tastes like Halo-Halo or Ais Kacang. They also sell Asian-style beef jerky, which I really like, but who am I kidding I like all types of beef jerky, lol. I've never had any of the pre-packaged meals here but they look appetizing and freshly made. I've had various snacks and desserts and they are all good. The plaza in which it is located is not the most aesthetically pleasing and going from one end to the other you will likely encounter at least 3 different panhandlers. The parking lot is pretty chaotic. In terms of location, I definitely prefer their other sites (they have 4 stores across the GTA), but for service and quality, I like this one better.

Ordered the pad thai and it's on the more tart side. Missing umami, could use a but more salt. On the other hand the appetizer: rice roll with mushroom with that fish sauce is perfection, highly recommended. Large space, too much incense smell so if you're sensitive, be warned. Friendly staff. Good price, large portions on mains, vegan.

It's very quaint and pretty standard for the area, nothing flashy, just a simple neighbourhood restaurant. We went on a Friday around 11:30 AM and were the only table there, which made for a quiet and relaxed lunch. We ordered the bún bò Huế and the pad thai. Both were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. They did the job, but neither dish really stood out enough to make me crave a return visit specifically for them. That said, this is very much a no-fuss kind of place. Prices were on the more affordable side, around $15 per dish, which is always appreciated in Toronto. The atmosphere is casual, the service was straightforward, and the food came out without much of a wait. Overall, it probably wouldn't become my go-to spot, but as a vegetarian-friendly option in the area, it's a solid and easy choice if you're nearby and looking for something simple.

I ordered the bun bo hue, pho, and spring rolls. The bun bo hue tasted more like a spicy pho broth, and the pho reminded me of the broth at the Michelin recommended restaurant on Ossington. Overall, the bun bo hue and spring rolls were just okay, nothing special. The pho was good if you're looking for something simple. They also put a large piece of beef tendon in the pho, which I loved! One thing I didn't like was that the owner seemed to be rushing us to order, which felt a bit off putting. I'd come back for the pho and spring rolls, but I'm not sure about the other dishes.

This really is soul food when you're feeling sick. My one quarrel with this place is the extremely small wide of their "large soup bowls" this is just terrible. I wish they would just go back to a regular large bowl of soup. This is the smallest "large" pho soup size I've had just about anywhere I've been. Honestly amazing place, but the portion of the soup really really irks me. Also the fried spring rolls are a must try! Incredible every single time.

The store front looks inviting and once inside the thought and details of the interior speaks to their experience in welcoming diners. Beautiful inside with a fresh and clean vibe. I had a fish cake with dill vermicelli soup which was delicious. It came with the usual side of sprouts and greens to use as toppings. My bill was $23 with tip on my card for the soup. Service was quick and efficient with plenty of staff around to help you enjoy the experience. The front patio is really nice! Will be a great spot to eat while people watching at this iconic corner.

I tried to finish the broth because it was so good. I would have given that first bowl 4 stars! Today was terrible! It just felt like a super water-downed broth that I didn't want to drink. Everything was just boiled and dumped in a water-downed soup base. The least they can do is use broth and dump it in the seafood tomato based soup. This was a 9pm dinner. They had their own family visiting to close up shop at 11. I tried asking them what happened to the broth today but they didn't speak English or just decided not to. It was disappointing for a bowl of $21 + tax noodle that was just pretty bland tonight even though it looked the part.... Sigh 2 stars today but couldn't average it out to 3 because now I remembered the spring rolls from the first visit were soggy Yes they are friendly but don't know if it's a place you should come before 7pm to catch the good broth?

The dry noodle dishes under the green column use egg noodles & those under the brown use rice noodles but the toppings & sauce are the same. The most pricey rice noodles are Japanese but otherwise the difference is width. Got the thin egg noodle version in large. It's recommended to add pickled garlic & red vinegar. The soup was pretty tasty with a natural sweetness, 2 springy half fishballs & a large, very fresh shrimp. The sauce was basically oyster sauce but pickled garlic, red vinegar, hoi sin & chili sauce were available to add complexity. The noodles weren't wet but were not dry either. Large was a very big bowl it came with minced pork, thin sliced pork beansprouts & greens. The pickled garlic was good. Also got a shrimp fritter on the side for $2.50. It was big with one tiny shrimp. The juxtaposition was comical but it was cheap. It was not warm but the fritter was crispy & tasty. Unfortunately the shrimp itself was dry & brittle. Right down to the non-white washed clientele. I'd always prefer to dine where the "locals" dine, and being in a multicultural city like Toronto, it's difficult to fine a hidden gem that hasn't been invaded by foreigners (I'm laughing inside because I'm not Viet and am disliking myself for being that invader; however, I can pass for a Viet if I just point to the table I want and the menu item I'd like ). So, please keep this place to yourself as I would hate to line up the next time I come.
