Delicious!! It's a small little shop but very authentic... The people who work there are very nice and helpful! I especially love the banh mi and desserts that they make

There are a slew of Vietnamese Sandwich joints all over the city. Seeing as I was in the north end, I decided to give the place a try on the recommendation of a friend. The decor is dated and the place a bit run down, but clean. I was there quite early in the morning so they didn't seem to have all the to go items they sell out on display yet. No matter, I was there strictly for the Banh Mi sandwiches. The entire menu is in Vietnamese, but the lady at the counter was very nice and spoke English. Banh Mi is a Vietnamese Sandwhich in a French inspired Vietnamese Bun. There are many types, from assorted (deli style cuts of pork), to shredded chicken, to seasoned grilled pork chops. I kept my order simple and stuck to the classic assorted sandwich. The sandwich is layered with pâté on the bottom, butter on the top, 3 types of pork (sliced), and topped with a carrot and radish mix, cucumber, cilantro and chili peppers if you like it spicy. Like many places now, the radish all but disappeared from the carrot/radish mix. This part was a bit disappointing, but radish tends to sour more quickly, so if you're turnover is not high enough, there's a lot of waste. Vietnamese Bread is my favourite. Inspired by the French when they occupied Vietnam, it's light and crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. The crust is not nearly as hard as a baguette, rather it's thin and crispy. The inside is not chewy or doughy at all, just absolutely delicious! Over the years, Banh Mi has cheapened to the point that it's no longer worth buying, but if you have that craving, you're just going to have to pay the piper. Most places will allow you to double up the meat for $1 for all you carnivores out there. While the meats are pretty standard, and the ingredients of every sandwich consistent, the true rating comes down to the bread. The bread at Banh MI Que Huong is fresh and meets my standards for how Vietnamese bread should be as I noted above. 3,5 stars. However, as I've also mentioned above, over the years, the sandwich as a whole has degraded while the price has increased. Hence 3 stars overall for Banh Mi Que Huong. If you would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

Someone was extremely kind and bought us some banh mi from this store so this is for a take out review. Oh boy, there is some good banh mi going on at this Vietnamese store baby! I had the "Rotisserie Chicken Banh Mi" and it was fantastic! The bread must have been baked in store as it is so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. At some places the bread is almost too hard to chew... not this sandwich people! The chicken was nicely shredded and tender, the do cha (pickled vegetables) were beautiful done and tender along with the fresh cilantro and cucumber and red onion mix, but the butter mayo the highlight in my opinion. It was outstanding! Much richer and creamier then most places. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that in house as well. My only problem is this place is out of the way for me, but next time I'm in the area, I definitely going to seek this place out to try the other subs! What do I think about these banh mis??? Nom, nom, nom!!!

This place is a hole in the wall. I just read the review from yelp and decided to try the place. I ordered the chicken satay bahn mi and requested for more cilantro and peppers. I like my subs hot and spicy. It was good. But what's more worth mentioning is the shrimp paste with pork. It's packaged in a small container, so unassuming. Good thing I asked Hong, the lady owner. She said it's best to eat with rice and cucumber. I didn't have any cucumbers so I ate it with rice. I was in heaven. How I wish I had green mangoes to dip in this. Would definitely come back and try their other items on the menu. Next one: grilled beef bahn mi :)

I ordered the bun bo hue, pho, and spring rolls. The bun bo hue tasted more like a spicy pho broth, and the pho reminded me of the broth at the Michelin recommended restaurant on Ossington. Overall, the bun bo hue and spring rolls were just okay, nothing special. The pho was good if you're looking for something simple. They also put a large piece of beef tendon in the pho, which I loved! One thing I didn't like was that the owner seemed to be rushing us to order, which felt a bit off putting. I'd come back for the pho and spring rolls, but I'm not sure about the other dishes.

This really is soul food when you're feeling sick. My one quarrel with this place is the extremely small wide of their "large soup bowls" this is just terrible. I wish they would just go back to a regular large bowl of soup. This is the smallest "large" pho soup size I've had just about anywhere I've been. Honestly amazing place, but the portion of the soup really really irks me. Also the fried spring rolls are a must try! Incredible every single time.

The dry noodle dishes under the green column use egg noodles & those under the brown use rice noodles but the toppings & sauce are the same. The most pricey rice noodles are Japanese but otherwise the difference is width. Got the thin egg noodle version in large. It's recommended to add pickled garlic & red vinegar. The soup was pretty tasty with a natural sweetness, 2 springy half fishballs & a large, very fresh shrimp. The sauce was basically oyster sauce but pickled garlic, red vinegar, hoi sin & chili sauce were available to add complexity. The noodles weren't wet but were not dry either. Large was a very big bowl it came with minced pork, thin sliced pork beansprouts & greens. The pickled garlic was good. Also got a shrimp fritter on the side for $2.50. It was big with one tiny shrimp. The juxtaposition was comical but it was cheap. It was not warm but the fritter was crispy & tasty. Unfortunately the shrimp itself was dry & brittle. Service was good, especially for an Asian place.

Right down to the non-white washed clientele. I'd always prefer to dine where the "locals" dine, and being in a multicultural city like Toronto, it's difficult to fine a hidden gem that hasn't been invaded by foreigners (I'm laughing inside because I'm not Viet and am disliking myself for being that invader; however, I can pass for a Viet if I just point to the table I want and the menu item I'd like ). So, please keep this place to yourself as I would hate to line up the next time I come.

Got the dry pho with chicken - personally would prefer a bun (vermicelli) instead. The green onion tofu had a good flavour with the sauce but found it was fried a bit too much, making it crispier than I'd like (it felt more like tofu skin than I could enjoy the tofu itself). The stuffed chicken wing was my favourite of the 3, just felt slightly pricey for what it was. The mango sticky rice cocktail was delicious - would get again.

I really like the decor at Dzo, it gives off a cyberpunk Vietnam nightlife vibe. Here was I ordered: Bò Tái Chanh (Beef Carpaccio) - $21.95 - Thinly sliced raw beef with coconut leche de tigre, pickled onion, herbs, garlic, peanuts. This was served with a bowl of sesame cracker and prawn crackers - very tasty and a fairly large appetizer you can share with friends. There was definitely more beef than there was crackers but very tasty - 8/10 Pork Belly Claypot - $20.95 - steamed rice served with clay pot of braised pork belly, egg and pickled vegetables. This was really tasty, the pork meat was very flavourful. The pork meat had a little too much fat on it but overall still very tasty! 8/10 Overall I recommend Dzo Viet eatery, good value but a little more expensive for Vietnamese food, but there's usually a premium for restaurants within downtown Toronto Total spent was: $55.87 after tax and tips
