Cross-section of my combination banh mi
    Mary T.

Tips: - It's cash-only if you are buying additional items. - One of the staffers does not comprehend English. Luckily, the other one does! A Yelp experience late last year introduced me to Banh Mi Le Anh. I've been back for more ever since. I love a good banh mi. There seem to be more banh mi shops popping up in Markham. Bring them on! This banh mi store is located at Langham Square. This shop is between Hero Tea and Roji Monster Ice Cream if you are looking for recognizable businesses by this store. Parking can be crazy. However, I've done well finding parking after I'm done working from home. I tend to get here at around 5:30 pm. I've been lucky to find a parking spot steps away both times that I've been here. I then walked over to the store. There is one woman who doesn't understand English, but is versed in Vietnamese and Cantonese. Another woman speaks English, so I've been fortunate to get her both times. Otherwise, I'd have to break into Cantonese mode. My Yelp experience consisted of these items: - Combination sandwich with pork sausage, ham, and pork belly - Lime soda I've been back for the same order. I love this combination so much. Staffers here roll each sandwich in paper and put a rubber band around it. There aren't tables and chairs to sit down. I've always brought my items home to enjoy. I love the lime soda. It didn't look green as shown on the menu. Lime juice is naturally clear. So was the soda water mixed in. It was so simple seeing it made. I should make some at home! The baguettes looked yummy at the store. Seeing it as a sandwich made me so happy. It looked so nice with the score marks. I sliced this sandwich in half to make it easier to eat. I got a nice cross-section of all the thick-cut meats, veggies, pate, and buttery spread. The bread was chewy and crusty. The sliced meats were yummy and tender. The pate was rich, especially with the buttery spread. Heavenly! It's funny that I like the cheapest banh mi. I like assorted meats, so it made sense that I'd gravitate towards the combination one out of the bunch. I'm a fan. I'll be back for more. (39)

New bahn mi spot in Unionville near the Markham Pan Am Centre which I frequent from time to time. I initially had a bad experience during the grand opening as I called ahead in the afternoon to see if I could place an order ahead of time, and they said to just come in later and they would have bahn mi available. When I got there around 6:30pm they were sold out already and I learned this happened hours before, so I was kind of misled. I did try it out on a later date for the $5 cold cut special, which was $5 cash tax-in. It was pretty good and filling, with good seasoning with the spices, a slightly crunchy bread on the outside and fresh cold cuts. I also measured it and it was around a foot long. Not sure if they changed the bread but compared to some other reviews and photos it might have shifted toward a longer version like a baguette rather than the previous oval shape. Overall a great addition to the area for bahn mi lovers!

The food was good--I took my sandwich home and the bun was still firm, which was a nice surprise. However, the drink was a little small. They put quite a bit of ice into the drink, so it's really only half a cup. Service was okay. There were four staff members working and they were attentive. The main downside is that the place only accepts cash or e-transfer. If you don't carry cash and want to grab an extra sandwich, that can be inconvenient. As for ambiance, the space is small but clean. There's no seating available, so you'll need to eat your sandwich elsewhere.

Vietnamese Sausage Sandwich (no cilantro, no hot peppers)

Food: Vietnamese Sausage Banh Mi - I never had Vietnamese sausage before and the lady said it had a sweet taste. It definitely stood out compared to the typical banh mi with cold cuts. Their spread was very savoury and tasty compared to others. The only negative was the bread, it was slightly hard/tough. I opted out for their cilantro and hot peppers which they were able to exclude. Lychee Soda - Sweet and fizzy but personally I don't typical go for carbonated beverages. But I feel the average soda drinker would like it. Service: Staff were very helpful and friendly. Staff gave us good recommendations and told us what meat options they had. It was around 6pm and they were sold out of their coffee. CASH ONLY

Grabbed a classic $5 cold cut banh mi and quite enjoyed the sandwich. The bread was fresh and looked artisanal, but I'd say it leans a bit more towards French baguette as it's not quite as light as I prefer for Vietnamese baguette. The cold cuts were tasty and the vegetables were fresh and balanced, but wish they put more paté in it. The sandwich itself is relatively long and average in terms of the amount of ham you get. The space is bright and clean and staff are efficient. They speak Vietnamese, English and Cantonese from what I heard.

Opening special promo at $5 a sandwich. No limit. Cash only. Buy 5 and get a free sandwich of equal or lower value. The buns were super large, and looked to be 12 inches. It was good value at $5 each. Regular price is from $7. At the regular price, I hope that the sandwich has more vegetables included in it. There is limited outdoor parking in the plaza where the take-out is located. The take-out shares outdoor and underground parking where there is a popular Chinese supermarket T n T, and several other eateries making finding an outdoor parking close to the take-out spot fairly difficult but cars come and go.

Okay, I am officially obsessed with this Banh Mi spot. The store is super cute and modern, and these sandwiches are NEXT LEVEL. The bread is perfectly crusty on the outside, light on the inside, and tastes just like the ones you get in Vietnam. Everything is made fresh in-house, and the combination cold cuts sandwich is my personal fav. Each cut of meat was thick and perfect, full of flavor. I also ordered the spring rolls and they are so good, taste like home and packed with so much meat. Prices are insane for what you get, and the iced coffee is just the cherry on top. I live on the west end and would absolutely drive out here just for these Banh Mi. Totally worth it, 10/10 recommend!

NEWWW banh mi shop in markham and it's worth the hype. The $5 Banh mi special is amazing. Everything is made in house so you can really taste the freshness in ingredients Steven the owner was very knowledgeable with the menu and friendly. The spring rolls and viet coffee was also bomb as well! The service was fast and the ambiance is very clean and modern FYI cash only & parking might be hard to find at night.

I love a great banh mi, and this place seems like one I would love to frequent. Upon entering, it is warm and cozy, and it is clean & well lit. The choices on then menu and signs are easy to read. On the wall is some nice artwork depicting the story of the Banh Mi, which was very informative. Pricing is very affordable, and the service is very friendly. And last but not least, the grilled beef banh mi and fresh shrimp rolls I ate were delicious! All washed down with a lime soda! Thanks Banh Mi Le Anh!

For $5 ... inclusive of tax, you wouldn't expect too much. But, honestly this was a really good banh mi. The bread to meat ratio was really good. I liked it a lot and Will definitely come back.!!

Went back for another go and this time was not disappointed. Store is nice and clean. Same situation occurred as the first time I went, they ran out of bread. However, this time they were able to confirm a solid wait time and we got our sandwiches. We ordered a mixture of assorted cold cut, grilled beef, grilled pork and Vietnamese sausage sandwiches. We found the grilled meat sandwiches to be the most flavourful. The assorted cold cut and viet sausage sandwiches were oddly a little bland. This place is a good addition to the plaza, hoping their prices will stay reasonable as it currently is!

Grand opening promotion buy 5 get 1 free this weekend. It was not busy when I arrived early evening, staff already pre prepping some banh mi. The bread size is huge. Staff said sometime it bakes larger in the oven. Overall. Butter yummy and loaded , pate good no complaints, meats decent pickled veg daikon and cucumber very refreshing. Didn't see any carrots. For 5$ this apparently their standard price for the assorted regular banh mi. Good value. Larger size. Bread I liked more flaky crispy once reheat. Less of the inner bread part. Clean modern interior with a few seats. Plenty of parking in the T&T plaza. Try for yourself.

I visited Banh Mi Le Anh during their soft opening. It's a simple take out style spot with quick service. I ordered the Vietnamese Sausage Nem Nuong Banh Mi and it was made on the spot. The bread stayed pillowy soft even though I didn't eat it right away which I liked. The vegetables had a fresh crunch and the generous pâté with butter tied everything together really nicely. It was large, satisfying, and $7 during their soft opening with no tax. Very filling. I'd definitely go back and try more from their menu. Just note that it's cash only!

Staff were so nice and happy - always smiling at us whenever they brought anything to our table. The dishes here were great with some adjustments to their dishes, I think it could be a solid 5/5! Here goes: Viet coffee 4/5 - Love me an iced Viet coffee. Was a tad sweet imo, so think they could adjust their condensed milk portions for this. Overall was a great caffeine hit drink though. Banh Cuon 5/5 - Oh my goodness - must get! Chewy steamed rice rolls with a pork filling dipped into the fish sauce. Came with grilled meats which were to die for. Bun Cha Ha Noi 5/5 - Meats were very well seasoned in the broth like sauce. It's a dipping type noodle and was absolutely divine. Bun Bo Hue 4/5 - This was good but not too spicy. Lacked a bit of umami flavour and felt like it could have used a bit more depth. Pho Bo 4/5 - Standard beef pho that was comforting and delicious. Overall a pretty solid spot for Vietnamese food. I don't know if it was strategic on their part, but they have effectively undercut some of their biggest viet competitors by $3-4 on a lot of their items which to me makes this resto rank VERY HIGH in terms of value because of their also huge portions. Admittedly, the taste of their pho broth still doesn't beat Ngon Corner in Richmond Hill for me but they have some items that I can't find on a lot of resto menus. For example, the signature grilled meat platter is amazing. It says serves 2-4 ppl on the menu and I think that's pretty accurate. My friend and I shared one and we're big eaters so we shared it between the two of us and actually felt full! They also PACK the platter with ingredients and don't skimp on anything which is awesome. You love to see it. Also, I came with the gf and the curry is quite layered in terms of flavour. But for me, the most underrated item is the tomato beef brisket noodle soup. Damn, that tomato broth SLAPPED. Better broth than a lot of chinese soup noodle places I've been to and the brisket was also very tender. Even though Ngon Corner is still packing the most flavour in their pho broth, I found myself somehow gravitating to this place with more and more visits because of the sheer value and pricing (I've also told a lot of ppl that they're quite affordable compared to some of the other Viet stalwarts in Markham/RHill). Hopefully this continues and they don't get greedy and decide to increase the prices!
